Newegg’s Wanfest starts tomorrow and I’m up against cheapocrespo, an A-Rank Fuerte player of all characters… FUCK. Could use some prep definitely. Fuerte’s such a wild card.
Any word on who you guys may be facing in the brackets?
Im going against a person named Cherrymountain, never heard of the person, and did a search and didn’t find much of anything. But good luck man, Elf’s U2 is such a game changer… that’s one of AE changes I can’t wait for
Also for anyone that is interested I should be on about 630pm or so. Hit me up for some practice before it gets started, could use some warm-ups to get in the right mindset.
Definitely could use a ton of warm-up; I’ll be on a little later, maybe 7:30 or 8:00. Good luck to you too Higgs. Just remember to play at 100%. There are no loser’s brackets for this unfortunately.
Awwwwwww man, I was afraid of that, but at least it is best 3 out of 5 matchs and 3 rounds, but most deffinatly thanks for the reminder. Also I didn’t relize its 8pm CST, which is awesome gotta get some studying in! Anyway, when you get on ill send ya an invite. gonna try to get Mac to get in the room with us.
Apparently EX Rekka x2 is safe on block, which, if going strictly by frames would mean that it’s +0 at worst in order to be truly safe. Assuming they did nothing to EX Rekka #3, that should still be the same… BUT if we follow the frame data pattern for normal Rekkas which goes:
I like it! will be interesting how this and the other frame data changes will effect fei. Just saying though, have you seen the changes to geif/guile/deeay? They look alittle more intimidating now. Looks like our difficulty with charge chars/geif is only gonna get worse. But I hope there is something that has been left out of these write ups… like that TT speed on tenshin, that would at least help with the charge chars.
Making 2nd hit of ex rekka(or first) +3 would mean 300+ damage off a hit confirmable move that comes out twice as fast as most overhead and goes almost halfscreen.I dont see it happening.Safe on block sounds interesting but you can pretty much do that with all rekka and i dont see a use for it at pointblank.(maybe punishing fireballs on reaction with it is viable now lol?)
I am really liking the arcade changes so far, most bullshit is being removed and shit characters are getting good(ish).
Well, assuming you can get in close for cl.HP, the max damage you can get off of a loop would be about 462 if you cash in 3 bars and an Ultra–less if you decide to extend the combo and use an extra bar. I don’t think that’s too insane considering characters can do this much with less meter. For fewer bars, lets see the combinations:
1 Bar:
EX Rekka x2> cl.HP> HK Flame Kick = 308 damage
2 bars:
EX Rekka x2> cl.HP> EX Flame Kick = 350 damage
3 bars:
EX Rekka x2> cl.HP> MK Flame Kick> FADC> HK CW = 392 damage
3 bars and Ultra:
EX Rekka x2> cl.HP> MK Flame Kick> FADC> HK CW> Ultra = 434 damage
EX Rekka x2> cl.HP> MK Flame Kick> FADC> HK CW> Ultra x3 = 462
Damage-wise it’s not so ridiculous, it’s just the fact that it’s safe to pull off. Now of course, that’s assuming you can get in close enough for cl.HP with EX Rekkas. If you’re forced to use cr.LP the damage goes down by 64 for each combo. For those damage values it still may be a long-shot, but something to think about nonetheless.
thanks, na the only thing that gives me real trouble with this match is a turtling honda with a life lead. I just hate fighting charge characters especially ones that hit like a train.
I lost to the Fuerte player, as expected. At the end I did friend request him hoping to get some practice afterwards, so maybe I’ll learn a bit about high level fuerte play from him.
I mentioned it in the Fei AE changes thread but, with EX Rekka being safe, if you land a HK CW and you’re worried that your nerves may make you miss the 1 framer, by using EX Rekka you can take one element of risk out of it.
On top of that, if you only need say, 100 more damage to win and have 1 bar left, it has good chip damage compared to their total remaining life, very good speed and it’s safe most importantly. For very little risk and cost you can possibly close out a tense match; I think that’s a pretty darn nice buff if you ask me.
Yang is apparently +10 on hit with HP Mantis Slash x2, and +6 on block. Mago tested this and was able to FADC into Ultra from 2 hit confirmed HP Mantis Slashes alone… That’s gotta be what, 400+ damage from a FAST, SAFE, and METERLESS poke??? And with solid mix-up opportunities on block!
Considering this, I don’t think Fei at +6, +4 on EX Rekka 1 & 2 would be completely unlikely. Given that his max damage potential can’t meet his full Ultra 1 and to reach that maximum would take a full Ultra and 3 bars in itself. Yang can do this with 2 bars and an Ultra, and combo from 2 normal Mantis Slashes without EX.
By Tokido and Mago’s descriptions of these characters, they’re looking to be extremely solid. If they think these characters will fall into mid or high-mid tier by now, we’ll just have to imagine where they stand 6-9 months later when people actually start finding new things for the twins. God, that’ll be a nightmare I bet.
We dont really know how much damage yang does on average for his basic punishes and hit confirms,or the properties of his rekka so its not really a fair comparison. Also he is able to combo into his ultra from tenshin so…
But i agree that feis ex version being able to combo afterwards is a possibility. An interesting buff for ex rekka imo would be to give the 3rd hit untechable knockdown.
Yang looks to be a really fun character.
