well Ive known JS for a long time, and we are good at getting in each others head.

In the Canada Cup stream, I was arguing that the match-up is 5-5.
I can understand why peeps would say 6-4 due to Rog s fast ground game. But there are things u can look out for.
Anything he throws out is beat by simply blocking. A lot of people lose patience vs Rog, when all u got to do is block most of the time.
For one, u absolutely can NEVER let him jump in on you, because you get frame trapped into grab or counter hit setups. Now its easy to say this, but Rogs jump arc is an annoying one due to how low Jump Roundhouse hits.
I was catching JS a lot with Jump straight up roundhouse whenever i saw him building up a charge, to punish his dash punches. U got to be carefull with those, cause if u just randomly jump straight up, its a free head but.
Of course FA is ok to catching sweeps and rush punches, but TAP and Smash hurt. So mixing it up is good. Cr fierce, standing hp and Cr mk are very good as well to counter pokes.
its a hard fight. but ALL of them are
But watching Mago play, i feel he isnt ready for charge chars at ALL. So I retract my statement that he is the best Fei right now. I think Match up wise, StarNab is better
Rog/Bison/Guile are all difficult matchups for Fei. When Rog has EX Meter, Fei gets fucked with armor absorb rush punches. Rogs footsies are godlike. Bisons stHK/Mk and Scissor kicks beat out Fei very well. Guiles booms recover way to fast for no reason so getting in is a pain. Pretty much what Fei can do is take alot of risk.
I’m sure the Mago [male appendage] riders are/will be claiming Mago sandbagged, or something to that effect. Mago has been getting the “Daigo Treatment.”
I almost wish Fei Long never attracted this sort of attention due to Mago. :<
Hey man I notice in your videos when balrog backdashed at certain moments you always hit him with a cr.hp…is that an option select? can you give some details plz
I agree with freddy about the blocking thing. It took me a little while to figure out effectively how to play these match ups, but giving charge characters a dose of their own medicine works surprisingly well. Try taking a 400ish life lead on Guile and then sit back, If you can avoid the EX booms, watch him run out of ideas. You can then predict booms easier and save for EX CW. He can’t jump and you can then catch him going forward with rekka.
Same goes for Bison, good rogs still give me trouble though, I find I have to spam Cr-Hp and CW then hit the 1f to get a head in that one. Rog has the best pressure of the 3, IMO.
Edit: all this is providing you can get that life lead of course.
One further thing to add. If you get a knock down go for cross ups or standard safe jump overs. They will lose their charge On wakeup and you can then apply some extra pressure or force them to use meter to escape.
Why would Mago do this? From what I’ve seen he’s a player that is very confident in his abilities and isn’t afraid to let people know. Seems very out of character. First the conspiracy about Daigo/Tokido RPS at SoCal and now Dagio and Mago are splitting pots? I have a feeling every time two Japanese players go against each other with money on the line this theory is going to pop up.
Although I wouldn’t condone it, I don’t think it’s an impossible scenario. I’ve been at the poker table many a time and openly done the same thing. When you’ve travelled a few thousand miles for a tourney it’s probably quite attractive. Remember these guy’s have absolutely nothing to prove, they’ve done it all 10 times over.
I wouldn’t believe that either would deliberately lose though. More of a we’ll fight to the death and we can both come out on top, mutual respect thing. Nobody plays to lose, period.
I noticed this is coming up a lot recently. I first heard of it with the MLG and Wii game but now in Street Fighter? If this is the case it kind of sucks. C.R.E.A.M wins over again.
I seriously, seriously doubt there was any match fixing or pot-splitting going on. From where I sat, Daigo just realized that Mago had no real game plan for Guile and saved that shit for the end of the tourney. Then Mago tried to counter-counter-pick with Boxer, thinking that maybe Daigo didn’t have a plan to deal with him. When that didn’t work, he went back to what he knew and couldn’t quite clinch it. It’s pretty simple, really.
Mago should have stayed with Fei, IMO. He did take a game in winner’s finals and kept it close with Fei pretty much the whole time. A jab xx EX tenshin could have won the last game in grand finals. But eh, we’ll never know.
Nerfs for Honda, Rose, and Ibuki. Big buffs for Gouken. Thoughts people?
I think the Honda nerf is going to make the match easier to win (despite us already having a match advantage, technically speaking) and less of a chore overall. The damage nerf is meh, but the U2 nerf is pretty significant. That was a really solid shenanigan that’s going to be made much MUCH more difficult to implement–no more Hands> FADC> U2 for instance.
Gouken getting a 3f cl.MK could benefit him in teching throws overall maybe, but I’m not seeing much that will change the way we approach him. I think being able to combo into his Palm from light attacks was a needed buff for him, but I doubt that will matter considering his lights didn’t get buffed and hasn’t posed a threat previously. Demon flip shenanigans are there, but thankfully he doesn’t have the palm still so it should be easy to pick the right escape option.
Rose Soul Satellite… I don’t know what that nerf means. It’s still a 0 frame Ultra isn’t it? {edit} Wait no it’s not. It’s 5 frames activation, so if she pulls this out say, in between combos by way of mashing, we’d still hit her and combo into something or we could just mash jab. That’s a really big nerf! Yikes, I’m not sure she needed that one, but hey that makes it easier.
