Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

well I agree with u Samurai, I think the perfect fighter is one who can shift playstyles in a match.

People were arguing that using a super at the beginning of the third round is a total waste. However the way i see it, its actually a good thing:

Say round 3 starts, and I manage to hit my super, i have a good life lead, that forces the opponent to come to ME at this stage. And Fei definately has the defensive tools to back someone off.

I believe this is why Daigo doesnt mind using his super whenever hes got the chance. The average life lead gives him a great zoning advantage.

and really, if ure not turtling against chars like Gief, then good luck

samurai…that is so lame . But joking aside i think that is actually a pretty soul crushing tactic especially in a tourney situation where opponents are even more prone to losing their cool and end up becoming flustered , so in short yes if you are someone who can keep their nerve and comfortably sit on a life lead then more power to you it is a great tactic but i usually end up going for the kill once i sit on a lifelead as i do NOT want the opponent to perform some miracle comeback while im turtling my ass off . Turtling is a skill in it’s own right .

Its a bit of a 50/50 for me I can see where your coming from but… Giving players space and time to think in Street Fighter is a mistake IMO. Backing off and letting someone clear their head could (and should) be dangerous.

I find my game actually gets better when I’m the underdog. There’s no need for rash decisions and 1f links, you just knuckle down and look for your openings.

I actually use this very often as I have been on the reciving end of huge comebacks. Things like this DO get into the mind of certain players, as they are trying to space/get ready for you to come rushing in, they will without a doubt get flustered with the amount of time they have and the “Come on lets finish this” attitude. I mean you shoulnd’t be on the other side of the screen just chillin, you should be deffensivly spaced (but I’m sure you know this).

I have mixed reactions to that Samurai X. I can follow the logic of doing it, but in a tournament, I feel that I should leave no quarter to my opponent. I don’t want to give them any opportunity to come back, so if I can finish them, I’m going to finish them swiftly.

However, If they’re sitting on full super and ultra, I’ll back off just on principle of being less risky. I don’t think I’d ever intentionally prolong a match for the sake of prolonging it, and trying to fatigue my opponent. I mean, if you’re evenly matched, or even playing someone better than you are, I feel that needlessly prolonging the matchup is going to take almost as much of a toll on you as it is them. It depends on the situation and what have you, but I don’t feel comfortable letting someone who matches me in skill to hang around.

I also feel that a swift and crushing defeat can be just as psychologically guard-breaking as a long uphill match. You also have to think of it on a meter building perspective. If you prolong a round, you have to think about how much meter you’re giving them. If my opponent is a chun-li player, I sure as fuck don’t want that bitch with any meter whatsoever.

I also I don’t feel that landing Fei’s super is ever a waste. Damage is damage, and if you can punish someone with it, I don’t see how anyone can justify passing damage up in this game.

I think it depends on the situation/player/character.If you have a Ryu cornered and only with a jabs worth of life left, you dont want to back off and give them a chance to recompose themself, but at the same time you shoudnt be eager to finish them off.I think it should be a type of aggresive turtling, not putting yourself at a risk but still pressuring them.

Well I will enter Guard Crush tomorrow night but I am beyond unsure how I will do. My pad has suffered a set back last night that has me mind fucked. Dpad started to feel stiff, I open it up and 2 of the 4 directions have slight tears. This just fucked me over, I have been working my ass off in trainging stage hitting cl.hp out of the CW and now this. I have been landing it more often online now. No plinking as its pad, just looking at Fei’s feet as he lands to throw it out. We I will do my best no matter what. They will be many heavy hitters there, Art, Sandford, Dieminion, Auq, Rashaad, Henry Cen, Chris hu and many others and now I have my pad letting me down. Its bad enough I got duct tape holding it together at the moment. Firecat get that business open so I can get a deal on Hori pads

GL jason, i watch those streams all the time, itll b nice to see a fei repping it there.

GL man if your free hit me up if you want some warm-up before you go.

Thanks, I know I will be elminated in my 2 matches but I need to start facing the best to raise my game. I may steal a rnd or maybe win a match. I am not putting myself done but with tournament play and knowing I am playing a person whos videos I seen on youtube may put added pressure on me. In the end this makes it worst for me http://shoryuken.com/f177/replacements-parts-help-needed-256381/#post9779167

You know, the same issue happened with my Madcatz pads 3 times over. I don’t know if better quality/thicker rubber would solve it; it might be the amount of pressure you put on the pad itself. I always used to press deep on the pad and it would break in stages; first forcing me to press harder, then being unresponsive to certain presses altogether.

Yeah im so tight right about now. I have been hitting links with ease, I have a nice rythm and now this. I felt good after these fights I was hitting the link just by hitting hp once and no plinking. I have been at this hordcore in training stage. Oh well if the next hori pad I get fails me I will make the jump to stick. That will set me back a few months

Yea I know how you feel, I just got my TE-sey and dual shock boards today so I can enter a tourney tomorrow (everyone plays on “evo” set-ups…) which sux but luckily this just came out after months of testing so it should be easy enough to do (no solder FTW!) I’ll let you know how it goes for furture reference. But like you I’ve gotten to the point where I feel its better to go out and face people to get used to the pressure, meet new people, and get used to the pressure. Gotta level up!

Yeah it was cool the last time I went to meet Starnab but I didn?t get to play a single rnd. So all those excellent players and I couldn?t even get a feel. I hope the rubber I added will have the same response time. It doesn?t have the feel of a spring effect but if I hit my bnb and cl.mp/hp>cw I wouldn?t care. So if I make the live stream I hope I won?t get blown up too bad but I will do my best to rep for the Fei’s but its time for me to step it up a notch

Attention folks, Flash Metroid has announced in his blog Option-Select.com - Viper that he will be maining Fei-Long, with 80% certainty. American Mago? I know Flash is considered to have incredible execution; that may be to his advantage as far as excelling with Fei.

Yeah I seen some videos that he has been using him. Its no surprise after what Mago did eveyone will jump on the Fei band wagon. Even Art at the last Guard Crush said he is “training with Fei to main him” as well. We knew this was coming. But fuck flash he talks a lot of shit and try to play a friend of ours.

I’m ok with this. Flash has the execution.

Count me out of guard crush. My quick fix for my Hori pad didn’t work and I won’t enter a tournament without my pad. If the new pad I get suffers the same breakdown I will dust off the old stick and remember that Statnab blessed it by going 4-0 with it and also winning guard crush

I would save up for a nice fightstick man. I just think it’s less hassle than trying to track down the godlike pads that have graced us the past couple of decades.

why not just learn to play with the regular ps3 pad ,it’s pretty good i can execute fei longs motions with relative ease .

hmm so flash is picking up Fei huh …
