It’s mid page.
You can do safe jump j.mp and buffer flame kick before you touch the ground, if the j.mp hits the opponent, flame kick wont come out. It’s good vs certain character where all their options are beaten by flame kick, like honda.
i’m new to fei long and i can’t seem to land my rekkas consistently what’s the secret? i can link into the first rekka but the followup i fall apart
Its basically just getting the timing right and making sure you do the motion correct. Or instead of a Quartercircle motion you can use a halfcircle motion. Just keep repeating it in trainingmode untill u get the timing down.
Now for a question of my own:
I was wondering if someone wants to get a few matches in and/or watch some of my replays to help me step up my game. Ive been playing for about 4-5 months now. Im from Holland (europe) and Im on Xbox. So if someone wants to help me out just let me know.
Stick your vids on the vid page mate, new matches are always worth a look.
Here’s a quick question regarding spacing:
I played quite a few matches last night where the opponent literally stayed on top of me and pressured with cross-up jump ins. If I got a FK off, it would whiff since the opponent crossed over. I had a hard time handling the pressure.
I found that a jump-back roundhouse helped counter that, as well as a close standing fierce for AA. Any other counters out there that I don’t know of? Maybe backdashing to help reset Fei’s most effective range?
I’m guessing they do some sort of blockstring that ends on + frames, giving them the edge to jump to cross over you. One response which is tricky, but easy to do on floaty jumpers is to forward dash. I would’nt say this is the best response since it forces a side-switch, though it does get you out of that sticky situation. Blocking would be best, with a Flame Kick to interrupt pressure if you have the meter to cancel it.
You can also try spamming backdash in between his blockstring to see if that will throw off his jump spacing.
Sweet. I’ll give it a try.
Ahh nosone, your still here mate! Thought you’d went AWOL!
Don’t be afraid to throw out a mashed Flame kick in the blockstring either if you think its got gaps. If your sitting taking pressure, the guy will continue to apply the pressure. You have to fire off a warning shot now and again. Did you read the article on the front page about mashing? Very good read.
I’m not condoning mashing, but there are certain situations and patterns when its legit. Look at Poongko, he’s the mashed DP king. (even Daigo sometimes)
Not everything in the game has to be prim and proper, being unpredictable will win you more games.
If they always go for blockstring crossup…just back jump hk or hp. Or you can just walk forward when they do crossup and throw them after.
Lol yes, I still check back in to see what the latest buzz is about. You guys have all been doing just fine answering questions and such while I was away, so I never really had much to input :razzy:
Work is rough now though. I wish I could spend more time playing again; I really need to shake off the rust.
Ok im learning back dash ultra 1 os, i can do the basic version which is just cr lk qcf x2 ppp but that only works on characters where st lp hits crouching so i wanted to learn the OS that Neville told me which was cr.lk QCFx2 lk+PPP. but when i do this i get a grab the inputs im doing are correct what am i doing wrong?
try to: db, df+LK, d, f+3P+LK
In all instances where you create blockstun/hitstun with the cr.LK, the OS input should cancel into a st.LK. This will override the throw input, even if a LP+LK command is superior to normal attack commands (the hierarchy would be: Cancels > Throws > non-canceled normals). If you are consistently getting a throw to come out it just means that you’re delaying your OS input too long. It really has to flow together as if you’re doing a slow Ultra input outright with LK’s snuck in.
Been poking around with a few characters with a friend lately, and I REALLY felt food about my footsies with Fei Long (as good as I can without knowing him in depth). Just wondering if there are any notable Fei Long players out there with a very conservative play style? I like to be able to slowly poke at my opponent until I can either score a knockdown, or they screw up and I can punish with whatever is appropriate. I’m definitely not the kind of player who’s going to try to get in my opponent’s face and force an opening. I’m perfectly content hanging back and shooting out a low forward every now and then instead of trying to go crazy.
Yeah thats how you should really play Fei and try to punish all your opponents whiffed moves with rekkas.
I’m not sure if others would agree, but I think the man of the moment - Fuudo, has a pretty conservative play style. His decision making seems very simple, never really putting himself in real danger of losing a chunk of life bar. He’s pretty much playing Fei Long perfectly at the moment.
From watching him , he loves to back dash and punish hard. Of course it also helps when you’ve got every option select in the Fei handbook ready at your disposal, which … I don’t!
I’ll add starnab to that list.
What should and shouldn’t I be doing against rose/bison and Ken. Also how do I stop some Crouch techs
Well, I think st.MP is a good crouch tech buster. Don’t remember how for the life of me…haven’t played SF in a while. Try searching around here I’m sure you’ll find it. Look for some frame traps and such. As for the matchup, I’m sure the Master Guide has that
