Nos, hit me up when you see me on again, I have dropped horribly in points as well but now in a fuck it mode. Although it looks shitty on my stats to have a B+ and be below the quota but goddamn MvC3 and other shit i’ve been doing lately has thrown me off, I lose matches to horrible players but able to beat decents one lol think it would be the other way around. oh well i’m down for games hit me up guys.
What are we thinking regarding PP now knowing AE is coming?
I’m tempted to just go for my life and do a bit of experimenting with my alts in ranked if our points are about to get potentially reset.
I guess it depends on a couple of things - if it’s DLC or a Disc, and if the system will follow the AE style (can’t see why not).
Personally a refresh might be good for me mentally and I’d also like to see a better reward for winning, but I’m not sure about that if your up in the 4000PP territory. It’d probably piss you off.
Also I think the scoring system should take into account :- Win streaks, Perfects and Round wins (did it take you 2 or 3). But also in the reverse if your on the losing end.
Going into a match knowing your potential gain is 1BP and 1PP doesn’t really give you anything to play for other than not getting beat.
Thoughts…?
@TC and Higgs: I’ll have to take you guys up on that offer. Late nights of this stuff isn’t helping me to get any sharper, especially without the feedback to tell me when I screw up royally. I’ll send you guys an invite when I see you.
@ Highland: you’re absolutely correct about PP. It’s even more worthless now than it was when Super first launched. Still though, I hold it as a track record of how good or bad I’m doing personally (in regards to wins and losses in the current day and time). While my win record might show me as a player throughout my career, nothing is more up-to-date than PP/BP rankings in regards to how capable you are of handling fights today. Sure the scene is dying online, but it’s still good for telling me when I lose a lot or win a lot. And it still has some effect on motivation as well (at least for me).
I’m all for a reboot of the system though. Like Vanilla’s system, this one’s getting dry. It’s still challenging, but there’s not much else to do except improve as a player once you hit that plateau. I don’t covet my points to the point where I’m blinded to that ultimate goal though. I just really appreciate having a solid measure for my personal record keeping and for the social aspect of being able to find people within the same skill level as my own without having to aggressively search for them. I think that’s a key point to the next system (if there is one) and I really like your ideas for the new system too.
lol I’ve not played in like 3-4 weeks now because of uni so I’ve been taking it easy playing CoD because it’s a rediculous amount less effort to play and win than it is in SF. Think I got to like 3,800PP before stopping to focus on working, so I deffo wouldn’t be able to sustain that after coming back in a week or so, so I’m probably going to lose that anyhow.
Reset or no reset, I’ll have to work hard at it again
Since i’ve got my A rank I keep losing BP, and very quickly. PP stay the same, always around 3500 but BP lowered in the 12k zone. I guess I’ve hit my wall and I need to level up my game ASAP. Not that motivating when you get only 25/30 BP from a victory and lose up to 70 from a loss. It will be VERY difficult to raise again over 15k.
Hey anyone still alive around here :)?
I started giving Fei some love a fair while ago and never even thought to look around Srk.
yup we are still here, just been kinda dead since AE is slated to be released
Yeah it’s been slow as hell for a good while now. I’ve not even touched a fighting game for like 4 weeks now…
I challenge you guys to a first to 100.
hahahahaahahah
I’m picking Ken with the 1 bar connection!
Oooh well thats kool. Im still trying to improve whilst juggling loadsa games which usually ends up making me get worse at SSf4 but im kinda starting to dedicate
I really dont have a craving to play ranked to be fair. 95% of my games have been in the endless lobby since I can fight better people and friends there. I have like 300 pp and 150 bp with Fei, (I have points on dudley too) and I think that is from maybe 10 ranked games altogether between the two. I watch the replays of my ranked and the inputs of the other guy is just total mashed inputs usually … dunno if I wonna do ranked to get through with fighting newer players (I only have around 200 online matches played so Im not trying to look down on anyone or think im some sort of veteran :L)
I seem to like spending time in practice mode than anything else.
Since I’m back to Fei, 4180 BP, 15638 PP.
lol, is BP and PP that important? I think too much emphasis is placed on that stuff. its all about you and not about points. anyway its good to have a measuring standard though. since I havent played Super online much its a shame I cant play any of you. so anyone from the UK that still plays vanilla on PC?
I don’t think many of us here consider BP+PP “that important.” As you mentioned, it is some sort of mearure of an individual skill, though even then it’s still not all that reliable.
While BP and PP may not be the best indicator of skill, and very skilled players can sit there and play with no points what-so-ever, there’s a noticeable skill difference between a player who reaches A rank and drops back down a few thousand points and a player who reaches A rank and keeps on going and winning (or anyone higher than that for that matter), as you can’t grind anything after A rank like you can through B+ to A.
That’s in my experience anyway. lol @ me, I daren’t touch ranked because my precious 3,870PP would drop like a sack of spuds, haha, I’m such a puss.
I dont think it will matter anyway, im sure that the points are going to be reset when AE drops.
yes, besides it doesnt take long to get to where you used to be. maybe a week of beating some ppl senselesss. snoootch will dominate. hey snootch can I have your youtube matches
They can’t reset my pride!
My PP was like 4600 or something ridiculous, then I ran into a runaway Seth player, and learning the matchup and adapting to him cost me quite a few points. I agree on that, but I’m determined to grind with A rank and keep it going until AE drops! Fuck Guile/Seth, I think these are the two most annoying matchups.
