One thing good about fei getting tweaked in AE2012 is that he got considerable attention from the devs; all in all I have faith in Capcom.

Exactly, you can see Fei Long’s fist hitting, but it doesn’t count. So stupid.

I think the s.lp hitting crouchers would be really good, as we could always go for it instead of c.lk and link with cl.hp or something.

Instead of hoping for them fixing things, I’d gladly settle for them not messing things up. A lot of the stealth changes with some characters that showed up in AE were really bizarre and unfortunate.

Good footage of AE2012. By the looks, Fei looks the same minus the damage output. Rekka doesn’t seem to be much of a problem so long as you can hit confirm.

Last matchup with Ken was winnable. Some bad reads lead to big punishes.

A good video showing 2nd rekka being punished by Guile. This matchup will be much harder for sure.

Yeah, I’ve watched pretty much every V2012 version video. I haven’t spotted anything worth while, the Fei’s are pretty average, couple of good ones though.

Not really spotted any new tech at all for any character. Dee Jay seems to be getting used a bit?

There’s a Fei Guile match on one of them, looks to be the same pain in the ass as he alway’s was, but well winnable. Pretty sure that one will prob go 5-5.

I think Cody and Oni (the latter at least online) are going to be tough.

I can’t see Cody getting any harder, he still has shit wake up and has to come to you for the fight, which is exactly what we want. Oni, not sure, played a couple of good ones, with his fireball not going far enough and his non FADC SRK (has this changed?), I’m not sure if he can effectivley zone Fei as well as Sagat or Guile.

Only obvious matches that I see will be a problem are the same olds really. Akuma, Vega, Chun, Honda, Bison and also maybe Adon might sneak in. Sagat will get a bit harder although not enough to swing it to his favour, same with Guile. Yun and Yang pretty much as is, Viper not much of a problem, Ken probably even.

Good thing about Fei is sans Akuma, he does well against the big guns. Even then Akuma is well winnable.

It’s still not FADCable - but it has zero recovery. Very hard to punish online.

Maybe I am not playing against good Fei player, but I always win if I stay far from Fei, throwing rocks, AA and Bingo Chicken Wings.
If Fei gets close … well, it is usually game over :).

Yeah but rocks are shit house, they are just a form of somewhat crappy zoning. Fei can just focus or block them all day. Anyone can win against Fei by backing off and reacting but sooner or later he’ll get in. Only thing I ever have to worry about when playing a Cody player is not falling for his counter hit/throw 50/50’s.

They’ll eventually walk themselves back into the corner then it’s GG. Even if your rocking some shenanigans, EX CW will blast right through it for 280 Damage. That and most of his specials on block can be jab xx rekka.

Not really read over the Cody changes, he might get a little harder, not sure if it’ll be enough to make it a hard match though.

Retreating speed increase is a significant buff depending on just how fast he can walk back now; it improves footsies and makes it hell for Fei to space properly. Cody can zone Fei well, especially with his 3-frame cr.LK that can punish just about any Rekka, making corner pressure more difficult. The thing is that he doesn’t have to be the one to chase at all in this fight and he’ll get away with quite a bit doing that.

Fei getting close won’t be an auto-win with the loss of his sweep combo now and he does have to worry about the footsie game that Cody brings. Rekkas are still boss when they hit though. I can see this being close to even.

Ya, I think your right. Most people could punish the second blocked as it was, they just didn’t do their research. I Lost count the amount of times I could have just been Dp’d but the fear factor and the S tier smack talk froze people up.

You’re right to an extent. However, in the video the Guile was not down back charging when blocking the second rekka as he was in the standing block animation.

With AE2012, its a for sure punish regardless if he has the proper charge or not.

Cody will be top 10 from I was told this weekend while at NEC. All the players I spoke to said “Cody will be a beast, with his improved walk speed he can apply tons of pressure with his frame traps. Think of Balrog and Sakura with jab pressure” Thats what I was told. They dont care about his wakeup game as again he deals out big damage for comeback factor as well as he has Zonk punch which have inv frames at start up.

Cody can punish Fei because Cody has 3 frame normals with good range. So this Matchup from what I was told will start off as 5-5 until some Cody player shows some new tech against Fei.

Why should there be any new tech (there is more than enough already)?
Improved walk speed and knife buffs will not change the way match is played.

Cody has good option selects to beat all of Fei’s options.

Regardless of his buffs, I still can’t see it being in Cody’s favour. More annoying maybe.

There’s nothing in his character design that give’s Fei Long particular specific trouble over any other character.

I guess we’ll find out soon. When is this available for update?
