It feels more and more like Nova is just handicapped without Doom.

Well yeah, Team Nemo would be the obvious exception. Didn’t really think of that. So I should say Doom or Strange+Spencer.
Moons needs a cheaper Nova team 
or better yet, make the switch to point Modok
I’m convinced Bolts is the strongest assist for Nova, but Doom has his benefits!
Don’t be convinced his team isn’t cheap. It isn’t S tier, but it’s still good. MODOK’s blaster assist is pretty decent for Nova since it hits at that space (similar to bolts) that allows Nova to establish control of that part of the screen. Also, MODOK serves the same purpose Doom does. TAC’s, rawtags, etc, but MODOK’s DHC gives Nova some fairly damaging combos because of the extensions he gets after. Also COLD STAR.
I mean it’s all pros/cons. Doom would probably be better for follow my lead, but his team is still decent.
Nova in general without Spencer or Vergil will struggle with TOD. That’s the biggest weakness probably.
Yeah, I play a Nova/Dok team too. Blaster doesn’t hold a candle to Bolts or Plasma Beam, unfortunately, and Doom does all of those things better than Dok (which is kinda what I meant originally, sorry). Dok’s got some other advantages, but Nova/Doom is so much stronger.
Plus Doom+Ammy is waaaaay better than Dok+Ammy.
But I hate Ammy so I would want him to drop her if anything lol
It’s a good Nova team, just not a good MODOK team. He doesn’t get enough from just Ammy and that shell is way inferior to Doom/Ammy or even Strange/Ammy.

There’s a match before the timestamp where I go a very close 3-2, but that was definitely tournament nerves - in an MM afterwards, I went 7-0 against him.
Ah…you gotta give me the time stamp…when you post vids here, for some reason time stamps dont work. I just been skipping through the video and watching all your matches.
My biggest complaints are you box jump too much and your assists calls are pretty bad (mine aren’t the most amazing either, but I can give a few tips). You don’t spend enough time on the ground relaxing and playing neutral. Remember what @Marvelo said
In all my recent sets, I started doing this and it was so mind blowing how much you see and understand when you just…do nothing. I improved a ton from this alone. Just stay at the other end of the screen and chill sometimes. You will kinda start laughing to yourself when you see other people going nuts moving around…calling assists and just…DOING STUFF when you’re doing absolutely nothing to really justify most of their decisions.
It seems like that’s pretty much a general problem with your scene though. It looks like people are just, once again for lack of a better description, doing stuff.
My suggestions:
- Force yourself to not box dash (just to learn discipline).
- Learn how to wave dash. Preferably forward and back.
- Spend more time just watching the opponent. How are they calling their assists? How can you punish/avoid? Where are they placing themselves on the screen?
- Train yourself to think before calling your assist. Make sure every call you do was with a purpose (assist punish, bait, lock down, etc.). Call your assist mindfully!
