Yup. Saw it on reddit a few days ago. Pretty awesome stuff. I like how he uses Nova/Spencer/Ironman. The secret best Nova/Spencer team.
Few things.
You’re playing the matchup wrong. VS Wesker, you need to be putting up a pulse, j.Ling his cr.L/Commandgrab attempts, and airthrowing those unsafe ass teleports he kept doing.
Work on your movement. Again this is the hardest thing about playing at a high lvl. Movement takes a lot of work. You’re way too stiff.
Work on avoiding his assists. There were a few times where you could have evaded Plasma Beam, but instead blocked it.
Decision making. There were a couple times where you could have x-factored Doom and left Raccoon alone. Doom should die if he has a shitty anchor.
Learn how to superjump airdash down j.H. It’s pretty effective at controlling space and stuffs Wesker trying to be overaggressive.
More throws man. Work on your ground game. Throw whatever you can. b+H on the ground. Don’t f+H.
Zoning can be better. You can put a put a pulse and you have time for two energy javelins before you put another. Work on your zoning.
Work on your incoming. Nova incoming was weak.
Stay on the ground more with Taskmaster. Stop jumping and shooting arrows like that. That’s unsafe and will get you punished everytime vs an experienced player. Every time your jump you’re opening yourself to another mixup. Taskmaster’s ground game is among the best in the game.
Play your matchups. You were most of the time just jumping around. Control the ground and control space. Start an offense!
There were a lot of dropped combos, but that happens. Laggy setups, sticks, and ps3 can cause that.
Besides that you’re playing decent. Work on these things and you’ll be in there!
Thanks! I will say a lot of my game play was uncharacteristic of me…i watched this match over a few times and picked up on some of the things you said so it’s good to know I can see that like a high level player.
That’s good to hear! Remember to play more by the books. Nova mirrors for example are all about punishing each other. They can get kinda nutty, but all Nova’s tend to jump and do boxdash j.H. Get in range to throw them. Nova’s susceptible to that. Pushblock the slide and incase they do cr.H, you can punish that with your slide! Also, Nova’s CANT pulse or javelin vs another Nova. Nova can speed tackle to punish both of those on reaction. Just something you guys should know incase you fight another Nova like you did in that set!
A good brunt of this I’ve made a case for in previous discussions, but there’s reiteration + probably one or two things I haven’t said before for why I wish I saw more novas use Grav H. If you guys like it/it helps you cool, if not I’ll just go back to being the crazy Nova who wants to play footsies in marvel =P.
Though that said while he was a little skimpy on the pulse watching Darryn play at NW Majors felt like watching my own Nova.
Very great overview Zansam. I still think that Wolverine beats Nova maybe slightly. Since once he actually does get in on you, it’s almost impossible to get away without risk. But whatever, agree to disagree.
I also recently started abusing using Grav Pulse L while I have an H pulse out. I figured that out a few weeks ago. I’ve been doing Pulse L + assist for a while, but not pulse L while having a H pulse out. It’s sooo fucking good since you can eliminate their durability just by shooting an L pulse so it saves your H pulse.
Also, Trish can slide under Pulses. She might be the only one though. Her hitbox on her slide is ridiculous.
Well, even if we’re agreeing to disagree we’ve still compromised; I agree he’s scary even though I think I can beat him and you’ve yielded from “terrible matchup” to “maybe slightly” ;).
I forget offhand how much I talked about this, but there’s actually a -lot- of normals that can low profile underneath non Red health pulse. Iron Man’s Cm, X-23s CH, Wolverine’s OTG slide, Magneto’s CM, etc etc etc. That said -very- few normals can low profile a red health one, and while they can get under it they need to hit you to remove the pulse; if you block almost nobody has a low profile move that won’t get hit by the pulse on the way back if you block (except maybe Magnetos c.M. That hitbox is hella dumb).
I love how I been doing some of these things Zansam and Marvelo are talking about when I play my friends already. I guess I should start playing on streams more because I think there are a lot of little things like using pulses that I do that other players don’t…hmmm…=)))
Nova isv such a versatile character that having mastery over all he’s capable of borders on impossible. Not to mention what you do with him also depends on Play style and preference. I just aimed to show people a perspective they may not have thought of much and rub off them a bit
Lmao! I haven’t confirmed it yet but I’m 80% sure I can get 2 supers and get about 950 solo. I am 100% sure that it does 820k solo with 1 meter though. Which isn’t a bad look because previously a SOLO NOVA COMBO capped at around 800k and with Insaynne’s combo I’m pretty sure we get about 820+ or so.
was wondering if i could get some feedback on my nova play. Havn’t had a chance to go out and play somewhere that’s streaming/recording in a long while.
The most I’ve gotten with my team is 900K for one bar using both assists. Also, it’s highly impractical and very difficult to time properly. I guess that’s a benefit to playing Nemesis huh? Big damage from the assist!
