Feel my Power! The Nova Video Thread

I just wanted to weigh in on the Centurion Rush M resetting the ground bounce. Dante has something similar in that he can do Skyfall and cancel it to beehive before the opponent hits the ground and he gets another ground bounce. The way this works (to my understanding) is that you always have a ground bounce counter of 1. When you use say Nova’s fH it uses your one ground bounce. When you use Centurion Rush it checks if you have your one ground bounce, if you do, it uses it, but if you do not it adds a ground bounce and then uses it. So if Centurion Rush hits it adds one to your ground bounce counter, but then the move does not ground bounce so you keep your ground bounce. If you look at the video posted above you will see that CR hits during Vergil’s SRK+M and never bounces, that is why it resets the counter. So for someone like Frank, he can reset his bounce likely by having it hit during a move with good duration such as his shopping cart super.

With my team, I can call Nova during Dante’s Beehive and also get the extra ground bounce. I’m sure it’ll work with Frank somehow. I’d love to see what you can come up with.

You can do it with something like Tools H (uses bounce ) >> call Nova >> standing H >> nova hits during it >> S, it’s just somewhat fickle that sometimes the bounce will still connect before you S. That said it does allow you to tack on a bit more damage than using it at the end of a combo, and offers a bit more versatility since it’s easier to otg with a tools H/falling tools H at the end of a combo rather than roundhouse + centurion M at the end. Either way, level 4 Frank should be doing 650-700kish pre meter usage and building about 2 bars with Nova on pretty much any hit confirm, and more in 5.

You can use it to get 900k+ off a Knee Drop, Tools H, Call Nova, MHS, the fact that you can do M before the H straight off a Knee or Throw means that there’s no finicky timing with preserving the bounce.

Also just a thought, but it probably means you can get significantly more damage off a super jump confirm with MM Knee Drop instead of MMS

Edit: Actually, i’m being an idiot, you can get it off MMS anyway, much bigger deal that it’s being made out to be IMO.

My Nova combo video

Yeah, I think flyingve made a correction in the video after a ton of us told him that it can be done midscreen. I didn’t think about airdashing diagonally like that though! I usually just airdash down, whiff a normal, then ground dash + otg. Nice…

Man, pretty fucking sick. After I saw that guy Drakengard’s first vid, I was trying to find a way to get double supers normally without doing the TAC glitch. I couldn’t really get it too consistent with my team’s assists, but it looks like you kinda nailed it. Awesome stuff.

How does Ryu keep getting hit at the end that allows the supers to connect twice in a row?

H Pulse. It’s slightly offscreen to the right.

I see it now. Ammy was throwing me off initially.

Nova Spencer Frank instant lvl 4, 1.125M, 2 meters

That’s not a very useful Frank combo. You only have two places to bring in Frank for leveling; after the H strike crumple and at the end of the combo. After H strike you won’t even have level 3 yet, and while Frank can probably follow + do a double snap to get to 4 any damage he contributes will be level 1 damage and not be very good. Bringing him in at the very end of the combo (which with this order/combo/config is the only other spot) is no good because the overwhelming majority of the cast will already be dead and then you get no snapshot. Whereas if the goal is damage there’s plenty more efficient ways to maximize Nova/Spencer damage.

This combo was just for style, shits & giggles, and proof of concept…if someone wants to level up Frank with this team order then can do a raw tag combo into Spencer, end with a Spencer super DHC to Nova and then DHC to Frank. I can post some more helpful combos later on. I just felt like styling.

Well I told the FGTV Stream that I would try to beat Jwong… Failed… It was a fun match though, just wished I stop dropping my stuff… -_-

I really HATE Zero’s hitbox… But yea a video just to entertain the Nova’s if interested lol.

Good stuff man. One thing I can tell you, is I can tell you’re unfamiliar with the Zero match-up. Nova I feel goes 5-5 with him with the proper assists. You gotta cent rush him in the face so for that matchup it might be better to get Plasma beam. That way you can confirm from CentRush L+M much easier and you don’t risk being thrown. Cent Rushes are key in that matchup. I’ll probably write up someting in the match-up thread regarding it since I know it so well. Being that I play Flocker and Tayson so much.

Thanks for the tip. Yea… Norcal doesn’t have many Zero’s so I am definitely unfamiliar with the match-up. I’ve lately been practicing Plasma beam more to help with certain match-ups… Sadly I need liberation assist instead of dark hole to extend combos >.<. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, I figured as much. Champ even struggles with the match-up as far as I’ve noticed. Like in the Video, you hit him out of lightning really easily at one point. That double lightning shit they do is mad unsafe and you can easily punish it. Once they do lightning in the air and shoot their buster, be on the look-out for another lightning. If they do it mash st.L. You’ll punch him out of it real quick. Justin kept doing it. Also, Zero since he’s so tiny is really subsceptible to cross-up overheads. You can tapdance all over his head was he’s blocking your assist. Liberation is the better assist anyway. I’m sure you can do some cool THC type shit with it since it gives you Stalking Flare.
