FEEL HEAVEN'S WRATH: Thor Thread Reloaded

well the mighty smash H makes the tech (usually back) midscreen so you jump airdash and MH and it grabs, or if you think they’ll mash you can do jump m to try and tag them with another combo.

Could you explain this a little? Is this just the H smash corner reset then j. S? What are the options/does it lead into a combo?

its J.S xx Mighty strike M, if they try to tech out of the corner or mash they’ll get hit and you can start a combo. Also air M strike has advantage on block so if they do block it you still have the upper hand and should be close enough for a ground H mighty hurricane. If it does hit i would suggest going into mighty strike M right after MS, it’ll add more damage and will bring them down to the ground to avoid launching them up too high when you use S.

But you have to do the J.S as soon as you can or it wont work.

so “instant overhead” jump s - that’ll work on some of the taller characters, but a lot can duck under. not trying to take away from it - just making sure people know that wont work on the dog or something.

i think you misunderstood what i meant, after a Mighty smash H in the corner immediately neutral jump and do J.S while they’re in the air, it doesnt whiff against anybody. That being said the mighty strike is extremely hard to land against the dog, its still possible but the timing seems to be very strict, on block there’s no difference though. I would personally avoid using this reset against ammy and stick with the normal mighty smash reset, if they try to tech out of the corner and you do a neutral jump thor’s body will block the air tech.

Just as a random note after Mighty Smash H in the corner I use jump S to mighty strike H, mostly just preference to not put myself directly in the corner.

I have a hard time depicting what you guys are saying. I only really get something unless I see a visual depiction of it.

Anyways I like the way FMR runs his thor, makes him look mid tier. Watching his match with his thor against doom when he won had me like “wtf happened”.

OH after a mighty smash LOL I thought you meant just straight up on a standing opponent

I don’t see it… just a classy ass cobra.

I get the midscreen reset and then go for the corner reset in this video, one right after the other, to try and kill for no meter. The corner one gets push blocked, (should have just gone for reg mighty hurricane) but at least you get the basic Idea behind the setup. So if they mash the S into mighty strike hits allowing for a free combo, if they block (no push) you drag them to the ground with you setting up for a high low throw mixup. If they push your best bet is probably just to go for like dash forward st.m (major range) + assist xx mighty smash H just to keep them locked down.

Very good video. I really liked seeing the movement that you were doing. I need to utilize his air specials for movement more. I was very impressed vs that Taskmaster.

Try scrolling past it really fast. Looks like one of the destroyers legs, but only a little bit.

Thanks for the video video explaination FMR. Your thor is sexy, I’m downloading this video for reference. A lot of mind games with your thor. Am I the only one who finds thor somewhat meter dependant?

he’s not meter dependant at all, he’s actually a good battery character because you can build good meter + do a lot of damage through his resets even without using hypers. Thor can kill any character with below average health with 1 reset and no meter.

Not to mention that he doesnt have any hypers that you can keep throwing out whenever you want like beam hypers, so other than the occasional mighty punish you shouldnt be using hypers outside of combos.

Thor can generally build the meter he needs, except for when trying to DHC trick. I agree with Neo Artisan, you’ll almost always have the meter he needs, so he’s not really meter dependant.

he’s especially not meter dependent because of how crappy his hypers are if you dont combo into them LOL

Valid points I retract my statement. Guess I just need to step up my reset game with the Odinson.

Is there a particular timing for the midscreen reset otg smash>jump>airdash up/forward MH? I tend to get jump M instead of the dash. Do I have to wait until I’m at the peak of my jump before doing the airdash?

Having said that, I’m trying to incorporate some of your stuff from that last vid, FMR, and I must say it’s already made a difference in my game.

that happens to me sometimes too, Im not sure what causes it, maybe just flubbed buttons? When i do it I jump up forward wait just a split second and then dash.

Also I hope to have a Thor tutorial video out sometime, covering combos, resets, other random stuff.

its because thor’s air dash is different, its not like magneto/doom who can dash at any point/height, a minimum height has to be reached before you can air dash so if you press the 2 attack buttons before that you will just get a J.M or H. You could always super jump to reach that height faster and get out a quick air dash.

So with the midscreen mighty smash reset its usually Mighty Smash > Jump > slight pause > Dash UF > MH. Do the MH quickly after the dash, if you wait until the end of the dash it will be too late.

Although I haven’t tried out FMR’s reset. I can tell you based off tri-dashing and IAD, that you have to wait for a certain point in your jump before you can dash in any direction. Doing it too early will lead to you doing a normal instead of a dash. You have to almost get to the peak of your jump before you can dash any direction.

Hope that helps.
