I seriously doubt kara-grab will be as difficult as they are in SFIV. Marvel has always had very large cancel windows.
I’m on board, was looking at Thor and Haggar to begin with, but HNNNNG. Thor looking so Godlike.
Well im not gonna act like I always had faith in thor cause thats bullshit. I was worried, kinda still am, that he will just not be good enough to cope with the other characters in this game, but that ripten video did a lot to alleviate most of my fears. My only worries now are twofold, one is that his seemingly slow normals will get beaten out a lot(thus my constant cries for super armor) and that he might stink a little on defense due to said slow normals. But I do believe with all the tools capcoms given him he has some serious untapped potential.
Plus did you see the range on that grab? I thought it was the kara grab at first until seth was like it was simply his regular grab range.
I’ve been on Team Thor since his announcement trailer
Gotta have faith niggas
Like Seth said, he’s not saying Thor is unbelievably sick but if you give the man the right support he is gonna be wrecking ppl’s shit
You saw the damage he did to another Thor off the reset, now imagine the rest of the cast sans Hulk and Sent.
does his normals have decent reach?
I need new pants…these ones are soiled after watching that video…
Now everyone wants to try thor…
I think its safe to say if you dont go threw the whole cast your not gonna know what your missing with every character
But also if others dont play your character you wont know the true potential of it.
Honestly, other than like 5 or 6 characters that simply do not interest me I can see myself playing a vast majority of this cast extensively. Particularly since it seems the characters are very easy to pick up.
Btw your sig is absolutely hilarious.
It’s the new YouTube generation. It’s like no one ever sees or even thinks about a something’s potential until they see a video. I really wonder how well most of the newer post-2007 players of MvC2 would’ve done back in 2002 before Youtube could spoonfeed them teams/strats. And this applies to all games and genres.
But anyway…
I’m still not liking the whiff recovery on Thor’s normals. Even if it’s not gonna make Thor bad, it’s certainly gonna make him a little harder to play.
Think about it though. Prior to CES build, Thor WAS trash, or at least glitchy. Even with news that he got better in the CES build, we didn’t really have any visual evidence.
I didn’t need to see the resets, honestly, I just wanted to see visual proof of his new Command Grab range. That enough would’ve sold me.
Yes! I knew a few tweaks and Thor could rise up to competitive play! Dude’s been my hero since childhood, so I was sort of dreading having to play him if he was crap (though I was still planning on it). While I think he SHOULD be faster (and should definitely have a GODDAMNED HAMMER THROW!!!), I’m definitely digging what they’ve given him to work with.
@above: I agree Thor’s normals are still too slow (especially that ridiculous jab), but they look pretty good in other ways. They seem to have good range, nice hit boxes, and strong priority–especially his crouching and jumping sets (standing set seems kinda crap). The dropkick, hammer spin, crouching hammer sweep, jumping hammer swing, and jumping hammer/elbow drop all look really good for different situations. I think the keys are going to be (1) know your damned spacing and (2) be ready with an appropriate cancel any time you’re throwing out normals outside a combo.
All that said, those resets are sick! They’re gonna be the total bane of twitchy mashers online. Gonna have to practice my kara’s, though.
I’m not sure I agree. Really, the worst thing about Thor before was his command throw range. And the fact that he still has some pretty slow-recovering normals. But every other vid/report, we got someone saying his tri-dash was bad… because they were trying to use him like Iron Man. And how many months was it before we actually got to see someone actually using his Mighty Strike at all, let alone as a distance closer?
Thor may have been bad before, and I still have a little worry that his whiff recovery is gonna hurt him (I heard his normals have loads of active frames, so I hope that helps). But even before, the small potential that he had had been overlooked plenty of times.
Its not like people just jump on whats popular, people can’t start assuming a character is good when 1. they haven’t played that character and 2. everyone who had played that character said he sucked. How am I supposed to argue with insert name when he has played the character and I haven’t? At this point in development we can only go with what people show us.
I don’t think I ever said Thor sucks! I was playing Thor before it was cool (at CES). As for the whiff recovery on his normals, that’s not really whiff recovery you’re seeing, it’s really long active frames on his normals, which is not bad at all.
lol no you were just an example, you were the first name that came to mind.
Just curious: Does Thor have a lvl 3 hyper? I know he has 3 hypers, but are they all lvl 1s? If not which one isn’t? Thanks, in advance.
I believe Thor has three level one’s. Imagine if he had a level three. It would take off like three quarter’s health. What a tank. lol
His super grab used to be a level 3, thank god it isn’t anymore because I see that beinga source of really easy damage on incoming characters that he may end up needing.
Anyone gonna watch the new thor trailer during the superbowl tomorrow?
man this year thor makes his debut in mvc3 and gets his own movie
