I’ll find out about the Thor stuff at LA fight club too. I’ll try some stuff out.
Yeah, in other vs games you could buffer air throws at the end of air combos. I used that for Charlie if I happened to be playin low tier. I eventually began to do the same with Gief. I just wanted to see if that worked with Thor’s command throw.
Hey, if you guys could test some of the following, I’d really appreciate it:
-
Mighty Smash/Strike: Safe on block? Good priority? Good for pressure? Good for GTFO when being rushed down?
-
Mighty Hurricane: Is it really practical to use now? How easy is it to use at the end of various combos for reset?
-
What are Thor’s best and worst normals now? Does he have any good pokes? I hear his low string is much better than standing, and that he’s got a could good jumping options.
-
What’s the damage like on that shockwave hyper?
-
Does he have any good approach options at this point? I’ve always sort of figured that combining his Mighty Strikes/Smashes and his air dash is bound to make him better in the air than on the ground.
-
How is his flight? Worth anything?
-
Can you use his mega taunt (d, d, C) to build a little meter if you cover with the right assist?
-
Mighty Spark: I hear this is actually better than a lot of people think. Does it beat a lot of other projectiles and such? How about something like Storm’s whirlwind?
Thanks!
Is that bad? He is known as The Mighty Thor afterall
Only so much Mighty I can take. Especially with everyone whiffing Mighty Thornado.
New random gimmick :
:l: Mighty Spark xx Mighty Punish grab
Premise? Most of us know that Mighty Spark can be ducked by a shitload of characters, so use that to your advantage and buffer his super grab while they are ducking in front of you. Probably need to buffer a single hit attack into spark, like cr.:l: or something. Main thing is that you use it in a block string and since most people block low the Mighty Spark will whiff over their head and thus avoid locking them up in block stun.
Can’t take full credit cause I saw UltraDavid do something like this in a recent vid, although I dunno if it was intentional(?)
What does it mean to have a character on point?
To have that character actually fighting. Some characters aren’t that good on point, so people use them mostly for assists.
Well, his flight isn’t Mighty.
I know right, when will they realize its not a projectile?
It should pull people in like Rufus’s ultra.
So it’s basically your main fighter while the other two characters are meant mainly to support the character on point?
Thanks for the help.
He worded that kinda weird; a point character is the character that is currently in the player’s control
Once that character dies or you tag them out; the next character is considered the point character since they are now in your control.
On the other hand what you stated is actually how some teams are constructed; some teams consists of 2 characters that are ONLY meant to support the other character who is always meant to be on point.

0:20s into the vid. Any idea wtf happened after Cap tagged in Thor. What the hell was that attack that stunned Viper and sent her into that spin? He was able to hit her again (for a combo) after he landed.
Looks like he tried for another air exchange but it whiffed.
I’ve seen that before
Seems like you might be able to purposely miss an air exchange and get a relaunch
I’m really looking forward to learning Thor. His Mighty Punish looks so good for well… punishing. I just need to find the right characters to pair him with.
Honestly I think it was just his tag in attack that did that. I think it may have something to do with the state she was in. I watched it in slow mo and it’s definitely his tag attack. He hits again when he lands but she was already spinning before that.

Lots of decent combo examples, like the corner combo on Ryu at 1:00, and the last combo which features air Mighty Strike xx Mighty Tornado.
I’m not entirely sure how useful that would be unless Mighty Punish does a massive amount of damage to make it worth using the two bars for.
However that idea does look useful with hypers that provide a lasting bonus.
So right now I’m thinking that’ll work best with:
Ammy (Slow down)
Henisin-Ko (Dark Force)
Arthur: (Power up)
Maybe others, can’t think of any right now.
Just watched some videos from the london fight club and it turns out the hulk has super armor on some of his normals, now im really curious as to whether or not thor has the same.
Oh btw heres a pick of thors alternate colors for the OP. http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/190882-/thor-noscale.jpg
