First match of the set me and Saitsu just had. Pretty even set overall. I have 7 videos to upload total… need to get some sleep right now though I will wake up early and upload some more. Overall it was pretty good shit.
Wow, man. If that first vid is any indication, you guys have really improved from the earlier set we saw. Kudos! Sad to see Thor have to face Dorm at the end there, though. Gotta be one of his worst possible matchups.
Thanks for spelling out how to do the Kara Throw I finally got it to work when I wanted (needed) on a fairly regular basis, I think all Thor players need this move it helps alot.
Really good stuff, seems like the only thing thats missing is the same problem I have with thor is tri-dashing online is hard for whatever reason. so you get alot of jump medium randomly and stuff. I think against another thor it can be good to also try and meet them air to air and just go for an air lmh into launch, its a pretty strong way to get a low anti-air, can work if you do it right after a dp+h reset as well.
Yea online is ass. I never noticed how much online was garbage until I really started getting better. Not being able to block low even when you are holding down back on the stick… moves coming out as something totally different… random shit coming out. Thats why I put the Megaman X soundtrack on the vids so you guys wouldn’t have to hear me complain like a motherfucker about online haha.
But yea I would say we have both gotten better but the thing with Thor is I have dismantled entire teams with him and sometimes I can’t get anything going for a couple of game. Last time we were just unfortunate to not get anything rally cool recorded with Thor because hey that sometimes happens.
Also, if there are any video game soundtracks/music you guys would love to have playing during these matches let me know. Im trying to find the Super Double Dragon OST somewhere right now because I love that soundtrack.
Very Impressive matches NissanZaxima, we should defiantly hit up some matches as well. I rarely get to fight any Thor players, it would be an honor to fight another impressive Thor player such as yourself.
Ah I see. I have my assists set as they are mostly because of my 3rd member, Skrull. Sparks allow for dirty and safe use of meteor smash/ j.2H, along with really making Skrull’s throw game scarier.
Same goes for Modok on the barrier assist. If I can get that out, then when using Skrull, I’ve got a little bit more of an opportunity for the throw mix-up, or to counterpoke somebody trying to hit me through the barrier.
I’d say Skrull is kind of central to my team, though I often start with Thor and have Modok as the anchor.
Still not sure which Skrull assist is most complementary to both Thor and Modok, but I’m thinking either orbital grudge or stone smite. Anyway, I know this should be in the team building thread, so Imma stop here. Thanks.
Well, I’ve been outta the loop for a bit. But after reading that brilliant idea to kara the hurricane with :f::df::d:+:h::db:+:l: and spending a couple evenings in the lab, I’m actually starting to feel somewhat comfortable that I can reliably pull off the triangle-slide grab when I want to. Kudos to Nissan for saying something, because I, too, overlooked the obvious on that one. Now I’m sort of returning to my pairing of Thor on point with Hulk’s Gamma Wave backing him. When you call the Wave, it pretty much wipes anything presently on screen and clears the way for your slide. I like to think of it like Hulk setting out a landing strip for Thor.
Still having trouble thinking of a good third for the team. I’m thinking I really need a GTFO assist. Hsien Ko’s assist is awesome, but she hasn’t lived up to my expectations on point. Haggar’s too limited. I’m kind of leaning towards Tron at this point. I think I can get good DHCs going with that team. Anyone care to offer suggestions, though?
What do you guys think of a Punish thread ? Might be a tad tough with push block and all that but with our collective brains we should be able to compile what works.
Thor (Mighty Spark) / Hulk (AA Gamma Charge) / Arthur (Daggers)
I like Hulk Gamma Wave as an assist, but Arthur Daggers are much more practical. They lockdown for longer, start up faster, and you can combo off them much easier. Yea they don’t have the priority of Gamma Wave but put Arthur in Gold Armor and they are really really good. I stopped using Wave and I don’t miss it at all. Hulk’s AA Gamma Charge has super armor so it’s a very good GTFO assist. It’s great for both Thor and Arthur. Also Mighty Spark assist can benefit Arthur when he needs to have more shit on the screen. Arthur daggers are great for both Hulk and Thor for getting in.
That does seem like a sound setup. Unfortunately, I just can’t seem to get into Arthur that much (which is a shame, because I like him, but his style isn’t clicking). I think it’s probably because of his mobility issues. While I don’t really gravitate toward rushdown, I do like characters who have a variety of mobility options (i.e. - Spencer, Dormammu, Wesker, Skrull, Ammy, etc.).
Don’t laugh but I finally have figured out how to use the recording feature in the training mode. They didnt make it easy did they. Anyhow I was wondering if someone has already done this but is there a list that shows what projectiles the mighty strike goes through (the reverse dragon punch move)? It would be helpful to know how his specials effect or are effected.
As far as I can tell, Mighty Strike goes through damned near anything that isn’t a hyper. The only thing you have to be careful of is that the animation outlasts the hitbox on the move, so while you are nearly invulnerable during the active frames, you make think that’s a longer period than it really is.
You need to set 2 of your buttons you don’t use… 1 to record and 1 to playback. Yes go to your control scheme set up the record feature is not in the general training mode options anywhere.
Once you set the buttons hit your record button… you will now be in control of the Dummy AI for up to 10 seconds. Input what you want the dummy to replicate then hit the record button again (to stop recording, it will automatically stop if you go 10 seconds). Then hit your playback button and the dummy with replay what you just told it to do.
