Suddenly the game went from having fun to…
Maj has been in the community since forever. Though I disagree with his statement, you have to respect it.
My favorite part of this thread is where no one points out that Bala is the favorite seed to win and he ALSO random selected. For him it’s ok because he’s the favorite to win? If that’s the case, shouldn’t HE be yellow carded since technically he’s the one sandbagging? No one’s going to say that though because Bala is SO GODLIKE at KOF (yes he is). If people want to compare the Justin/Noel situation to this then saying that Bala should get yellow carded makes much more sense since he’s the top seed just like Justin was therefore by random selecting HE was sandbagging, not Chris. Not saying I want him to get yellow carded because I don’t, but if Chris does then so should Bala.
Who are you guys to say just because Chris random selected, he’s automatically sandbagging? The implication of sandbagging often refers to a player hiding his skill level to gain a future handicap or to actively try to change the results of a tournament - neither one of these applied to this situation. People are forgetting that this is GRAND FINALS, results were going to be the same. The only thing affected by THEIR choice to random select was the entertainment value for some of those watching them play <–last I checked, tournaments are for the players not for spectators.
Chris G random selected because Bala’s knowledge/experience with KOF is immensely higher than that of him and he probably figured out his team before GF. By random selecting, it places Bala in a position where he doesn’t know what Chris will do because he is unfamiliar with Chris playing those characters. This GF actually helped Chris G examine and assess Bala’s skill plus to my knowledge, Chris barely loss those matches so please let me know, HOW was he sandbagging? Oh btw, people who want to talk about spectator’s entertainment, SPECTATORS AT THE TOURNAMENT were actually asking for random select in GF of KOF XIII so there goes your argument.
That’s not Maj, (Maj is Maj on SRK) that’s some dude’s alternate account used only to throw bitch fits.
Tweets from Chris G to accusations that his actions were similar to Justin’s:
@honzogonzo The only reason this is an “issue” is because Bala was the favorite to win.** No one mentions that he also random selected. We had fun with it, people need to deal with that.**
[S]@[/S]JWonggg I never gave up. In kof I just wanted to please the crowd cause I can’t beat bala. End of story. U of all ppl should know. [S]#[/S]NEC [S]#[/S]3S
[S]@[/S]honzogonzo [S]@[/S]jacarandas ok and? Of course I can’t beat bala. No1 there can.** But the crowd wanted it, so I did it.** Problem? I don’t see one.
[S]@[/S]iShffl [S]@[/S]honzogonzo stop being wrong. I don’t like that. Justin “apparently” wanted Noel to win cause of friendship, not skill. Idk bala.Lol
[S]@[/S]iShffl [S]@[/S]honzogonzo Well ur off on that one buddy. I tried my best, and** there were no bracket fixing**. Hold that yellow card monsters.
[S]@[/S]OhVorkosigan [S]@[/S]honzogonzo it could look like however u want it to look like. I did good, I had a laugh, and it was fun. To me, its all big2.
Justin Wong himself:
[S]@[/S]BasedGodJonny [S]@[/S]NYChrisG [S]@[/S]skisonic I don’t think he should get yellow carded. Its not as bad since Chris and Bala aren’t friends like that
Everyone claiming it’s akin to the Justin situation, hold dat.
Everyone saying spectators were cheated out of a “show,” hold dat.
I have a couple of questions:
If ChrisG felt that he had no chance to beat Bala and decided to straight up forfeit, would that have also been “breaking the rules”?
Are players required to play through a match that they believe they have no hope of winning?
I would have let out the same heavy sigh, but no, I wouldn’t have made this thread. This is if it had happened to ANYONE, not just JWong
The whole draconian thing might have worked when the scene was smaller. That attitude won’t fly when you’re trying to turn FGs into a legitimate scene though, and thats what some people are trying to do.
Seriously? What are you, 12?
bala picked his team, he never randoms
you got some information. you learned that chris g felt like he didnt have a chance against bala, and that picking random also took some pressure off him. you can learn something from everything
If you really cared about this you’d stop being bitchmade and post on your real account instead of trolling on a sub.
Nobody plays anymore. They make threads and argue on forums about over rated players that gave up at grand finals.
I WAS TROLLED!!!

Ok then nevermind.
To the OP, you need to hold dat. Shut up and if the Cannon brothers and Mr. Wizard decide to yellow card him, which will be stupid IMO, they will. Stop arguing and let them decide.
What’s with all this “was” shit?
i have a clone??
Yes, because my age should be called into question to see how anyone truly benefits from losing on purpose with no prior agreements. It wasn’t like there was a betting pool on GF and for some reason everyone, ignoring any conventional wisdom, actually bet against Bala besides Chris G, who bet against himself then walked away with everyone’s money cackling in the sunset. Do you really benefit from “saving face” and not going all out in a futile attempt to beat a vastly superior opponent? Do you really benefit from all the unnecessary hatred you bring about yourself from picking a random team? Do you really benefit for settling for second place?
In all honestly, the only person whose age needs to be called into question is your own on account of your obvious sidestepping of well-stated contradicting arguments (internetmemesftw) and your witless retorts such as the one I’m now responding to.
Since we do not have any clear evidence of collaboration between players, we can only penalize the player whose performance reflects intentional underperformance. - Tony Cannon
What’s funny is that the EVO staff may not have even considered yellow carding Chris G but becomes stream monsters are salty about the way GF of KOF was played out now it may be taken into consideration because of all this bitching.
People say there’s a “standard” and disciplinary actions must be applied consistently but how about the tournaments themselves? Shouldn’t there be an EVO standard for tournaments and they way they should be ran? There was so much bracket running/seeding failure throughout many of the EVO seeded tournaments this year, a few of the tournaments have been known to have a shady history, I don’t see the EVO staff dropping these tournaments from their lineup.
No action will be taken. End of thread.
