Favourite Fighting Game Story

Yea i was just reading the stories for some games their all pretty much very good stories.
Was just wondering what people out their thought of them and which ones you like the best.
My fav’s are the Orochi saga from kof and mostly all of tekken problay between tekken 2 and 3 being the best with the devil gene and Ogre etc going on.
Lol not sure were their going with tekken 5 with Heihachi’s dad showing up :wow: i didnt expect that.
Here are the links to the stories their all offical.

Im sure their is one for GG#R i dont have a link if anyone knows of one plz post, im sure GG has a good story.
Ahh while im @ it you can add the links to SC series and VF series if their is a story to that? im not sure with VF as that dual or watever shes called is always the boss.

Also i know CVS2 is a dream match of sorts and doesnt belong in the cannon, but i thought it would be cool if it did have its own seprate story, if anyone is interested in writing one let me know.

off topic here TAS what happened to the bison orgins?

Also any1 who feels this thread is lame dont post here if you feel the need to flame head over to General or fighting game Discussion, were you can find great threads to your taste such as:

“whats it like to be gay for the day”
“X game is way more balanced than Y game”
“I hate fighting games so joined a forum with that theme”
“I hate everybody i disagree with everthing you say”
“I’m a assclown post here thread”

Well you get my point n it.

I’ll bite.

  1. SF

  2. Fatal Fury/Mark of the Wolves

  3. Darkstalkers

  4. KOF

  5. Guilty Gear

  6. Samurai Showdown

  7. Rival Schools

  8. Tech Romancer

I can only think of 8 right now.

The direct link to Samurai Showdown’s plot guide is not working right now for some reason. You can find it here along with Mortal Kombat’s.

Def Jam: Fight for New York.

Fightin’ Spirit !!! Jenshi is recruiting the strongest fighters in the world for his criminal organisation by inviting them to fight in the Supreme Warriors Tournament. But little does he know that most of the fighters have joined the tournament to bring him down…

AH! AH! AH! (badly translated laugh)

mortal kombat and guilty gear storys are pretty good.

Street Fighter has a story?

  1. KOF
  2. Rival Schools
  3. Soul Edge/Calibur
  1. Dead Or Alive, even though it is becomming more like a soap opera I always felt that it has always been the best fighter to possess the Story Mode feature. I basically like all of these rivalries going on, especially family scores to settle.

  2. Tekken, what did I just say on families? This game is full of family grudges and revenge plots ever since Kazuya threw Heihachi into the gorge. That’s why I like it.

  3. Street Fighter, it’s all about rivalry, honour and the way of the warrior, that fascinates me a lot.

I dont think I have a overall favorite, but

Its like in terms of storyline to me

Street Fighter - A jumbled mess, although in the recent years Capcom released books to set everything straight so that people could better understand everything. It has a good story from SF1 to SF3, but not going by the games, only through the books that Capcom released (which were only released in Japan)

Darkstalkers - Really unique, but has an insanely detailed backstory, which can be hard to get into.

Rival Schools - Has a really great storyline thats easy to follow, due to the fact that you’re basicly kept up to date on the story as you’re playing through the games.

King Of Fighters - Very easy to follow if you follow KOF, as a new game is released every year.

Samurai Showdown - Has a pretty good storyline throughout the series, however it can have a serious lack of info at times, and/or you need to read stuff not found in the games to understand it.

Tekken - Great easy to follow storyline, thanks to the intros and most notably the endings. May not be that clear to those who have only played one (or none of the) game(s) though.

Virtua Fighter - Never really got into VF, but VF4 seemed easy to follow and also had introductions about the character’s stories from past games.

Mortal Kombat - Good and easy to follow if you play all the games, however there are quite a few things not stated in the games that you’d have to read about to know the full story.

Soul Calibur - The first game (Soul Blade) and third game (SC2) have alot to them in terms of story (if you want to read it) but can be pretty boring to read, which is basicly how you have to view most of the storyline, through reading.

Dead Or Alive - Geez, what story? One of the most popular fighting franchises out there and it basicly has no story, or one thats really hard to follow, not to mention final bosses that always seem really out of place.

I didnt think DOA actually ever had a story, just various things thrown in for filler, ie could someone even make a plot guide for DOA? Cause Id really like to see one for it if its even possible to make.

Yea i kinda lost track of mortal kombat after MK3 i know alot of characters were killed off i think the orginal sub zero is dead right? i know theirs other so called sub zeros i dunno ill check up on that.

Yea with tekken i like the feuds between jin and kazuya and Heihachi i like how now in T5 jins devil power has manafested like his father.

I thought they would leave Heihachi out of this game but they anit dont know if its actually part of the story or what.
As i would like to know who sent in the army of jacks lol perhaps Heihachi himself ploting some scam.
But now his dads out thats another problem for him.

the other characters have decent plots as well i think like bryan nina etc.
Sometimes the mid tier characters stories in fighting games are pretty pointless i mean fighting just to get your car back?

Im wondering if namco are going to continue with this storyline for the entire tekken series depending on how long it last as namco dont really have any other fighters apart from SC.
I mean the fighters are getting on a bit, i think thats why this tekken 5 is set right after 4.

Also i heard a rurmor that the next tekken is going to be zero like before all this happened maybe thats why Jinpachi is in here (T5) so we will see him again but younger perhaps, if that game actually happens.

DEF JAM FFNY hmm yea i watched my m8 play that the story is ok taking over snoops clubs and that, your tipical thug storyline.

1st Tekken

2nd Kof

4th Fatal Fury/Mark of the Wolves

5th Street fighter

6th Soul Calibur

7th Guilty Gear

8th Samurai Showdown

9th Mortal Kombat

10th Guilty Gear

Actually good point i think tekken by far has the best in game stroy telling.
It has the best intros and endings CG id put them on level with square stuff compared to any other fighter i cant think of any to match problay only another namco game SC.

Plus i luv the in game art for the storymode who is the artist by the way if any1 knows tekken 4 is what im thinking of i dont know if its the same in previous as i wasnt into them back then.

with other games you usually have to go of and do some extra reading to know whats going on e.g SF which endings arent that great although i did like what udoneko did with CFE endings you guys should get SF4 endings i dont want CVS2 one lineres even if that was a dream match those endings were still lame.

I wouldnt mind short anime clips for 2d games i think GG does this i dont know, never finshed any but from the intros i guess it has.

KOF has decent in game stories as well i think they could be better though, like how they did the intro for rebout and also how they went through the Orochi and Nest sagas on that dvd using the actually gameplay and screen endings added with extra voice overs for the characters,

not sure but i think they used the actual voice actors of the games.

Its all in jap so im not sure i havent seen any translation but if you havent seen it its on the rebout disc.

Unfortunately, someone has yet to make an accurate Tekken plot FAQ. There’s one called “Historicum Tekkenicus” and another one you can find at Fighter Mania, but they’re both more than a little off.

The plot has plenty of holes I’ll grant you that, mainly what is so significant about Raidou? But a lot of the plot is explained in the Instruction Manual just as brief character profiles. But for the first title it was generally all about character histories which were very vague and participating in some kind of tournament, DOA1 was the most unexplained, pretty much how I suspect people saw Street Fighter II back in 1991.

As always it’s all down to preference.

SF is a convuluted mess that gets retconed a lot but the reason I prefer it to all other fighting game stories is the themes that run through it.

  1. Winning isn’t everything in SF. People loose. All the time. It’s weither or not you do your best that counts.

  2. Revenge is a bad concept in SF where in most Fighting Games it’s a positive reinforcement that allows you to do amazing impossible things for the sake of the hero winning the game or good triumphing over evil. Guile has to let revenge go and not kill Vega(Cape). Sagat has to let it go. Ryu doesn’t want to fight Gouki fro revenge anymore. Chun-Li has to let it go. Gill has to let Alex win and so on.

  3. Capcom doesn’t tell you who wins every fight, but when they do it makes sense allowing us to figure out the SF Power tiers within a very good estimation.

  4. You get to see some of the characters age/grow/evolve. That’s why I ranked FF as #2. Sam Sho’s future is incredibly depressing so I didn’t rank is as high. I stopped playing after Tekken 2 so I feel it’s unfair for me to rank them, but the characters evolve there as well.

As for KOF, it has more of a story, but there are things about it that stop me from ranking it higher than number 4.

A. It’s outside of SNK continuity. It’s not connected to AOF, FF, Samurai Showdown or anything else.

B. It features teams of three and all three have the same exact goals most of the time, there’s very little reason for some of these teams to show up year after year and loose to the hero team.

C. People don’t age, but since it’s outside of SNK continuity they don’t have to I guess.

D. The Nests storyline never lived up to the Orochi storyline.

I think SNK’s best storyline is the Fatal Fury series. You get to see the evolution of Terry, Geese(Through his son) and the fate of Southtown plus Kim’s sons age. They still need another MOTW to show more of the FF characters to flesh it out though, but lots of fighters are in dier needs of sequels.

I don’t want to drag this out since I don’t think any fighter has a rich engrossing story like RPGs. All of them are simplistic in their own way.

Anyway, arguing about storylines in fighting games is like winning a handicapped race. Even if you win, you’re still retarted.

KOF 97, close the thread

Why is it Shoryuken members almost ALWAYS post that
