Favourite Fighting Game Story

Actually sano they are conected its starts off with FF,KOF some were in their AOF is inbetween yea its all kinda messed up.
Yea it was actually geese that started the king of fighters tourneys.
And since young geese is in AOF you’d have to put that in somewere.

Yea this is the main reason things are messed up totaly i mean we have characters from MOTW showing up in KOF2K3 which is just wrong i mean rock being in their is stupid that would mean kyo was and still is in high school for ten years lol.

Yea i agree with that.

The King of Fighters game series is unconnected to normal SNK continuity. Geese was young when he appeared in AOF, he’s older when he appears FF (AOF happens years before FF) and in KOF you have AOF and FF being their respective ages which is wrong, Ryo, Yuri, Robert, King and everyone else should be older. (AOF storyline has never been retconned to fix the age difeerences.)Geese is still alive in KOF, he’s dead in FF. Southtown gets destroyed in KOF, in FF it just falls to financial ruin.

KOF was never intended to be part of continuity. It was just a crossover of a bunch of their games put together. Think if how Neo Geo Battle Coliseum becomes popular. It will spawn it’s own series but that doesn’t mean Haohmaru is still alive.

And yeah, it being unconnected to anything is the reason characters like Athena never age. It’s an out of continuity crossover, it doesn’t matter. Think of how Sakura is frozen at 16 in every crossover she shows up in but if she were to show up in a SF game she would obviously be older.

Here’s a post from Southtown Kid from the snk-capcom forums.

"Here’s a little fact people who think AOF was “revamped” seem to be forgetting. AOF2 came out the same year as KOF '94. In KOF, Ryo and Robert are the same age as Terry: 24. But AOF2 takes place more than 10 years before Fatal Fury 1. It’s no revamp. They just didn’t think it was important when they first created KOF.

It’s like NeoGeo Battle Colliseum now. Everything about it looks like a dreammatch… characters from different time periods, etc… But what if a series develops from it? What if a storyline develops? All of a sudden, people will try to make fit things that don’t fit. KOF started that way. It wasn’t serious, and it didn’t have much of a story. Of course, that changed when they made the first sequel… It just started as a fun game where you could play as your favorite SNK characters throughout the ages against each other. Just enjoy the game for what it is.

I’m pretty thoroughly convinced that most of the people who claim AOF story was later changed to fit KOF (at some unspecified time, and with no proof to back the statement up), are mostly people who weren’t big fans of the AOF series in the first place, which makes it easier to write off.

According to “All About SNK Head-to-Head Fighting Game 1991-2000” book, which is made up of all OFFICIAL information, Geese was born January 21, 1953. In AOF2, Geese is 26 years old, which makes the year 1979. There, official. In Fatal Fury 3, he’s 42, making the year 1995, the year the game was released. (By the way according to the book, Real Bout Special takes place in 1996, which completely shoots down the fan fiction theory that Real Bout Fatal Fury takes place in 1998.)

Conclusion: AOF takes place more than 10 years before FF, and was not changed to fit KOF. KOF just exists in a world where things happened differently. For people who still maintain KOF is the new “history”: how can every character be the same age in 2001 they were in 1995? In every FF game, the characters get a year older… why not in KOF? Because in KOF, it doesn’t matter."

ahh you are right i know kof94 did not have a story its just because it became popular so they gave it one.
I surpose thats a good and bad thing as they can use anybody they want unlike say tekken or SF i hear many times ryu and ken were not even meant to be in sf3 they must be old.
the bad thing is like you say no real continuity going on.

To be honest i think with most fighters namely snk and capcom they just make shit up as they go along i think only tekken had some kind of plot from the start.

SNK and capcom games coming from the 80s early 90s didnt really have stories cos to be honest who cared back then lol SF FF kof were just good games thats all you needed.
Now we live in a age were everygame needs to have some sort of story.

Hell i didnt know contra had a story and bill rizer had some kind of mad past lol his not even the real rizer if you take neo contra story into account, even though i feel thats a total parody of the other games.

Another case of stuff they just made up, yea it wouldnt surprise me if SF4 didnt have anything much to do with sf3 or the next new KOF since its lost its yearly title.
