VF4 Evo, although I have never played VF4 Final Tuned or VF5 R.
Agreed. It be nice if most games featured a tutorial that great. While at the same time, the fact that most games don’t should be incentive for players to help each other out in learning fighters.
Yeah, alot of people were like “HUH!?” on the bouncing. Then again, it’s not the first time. I thought I read people went “HUH!?” on VF4’s introduction to stuns and crumples, but then people got used them. And VF3? That was just something else. Also interesting that I have a friend getting into VF5 and he used 4 Evo’s tutorial to practice and just had to incorporate all the 5 stuff afterward.
I like VF4Evo and VF5 mostly equally. Granted, VF4Evo was the first VF I played hardbody, but VF5 is definitely a tiny, tiny bit faster.
Yeah. You’re not the only one shocked. While VF has always had retarded damage and sure a good bit is situational, 5R just makes big damage happen more often now.
Funny, I can agree with this statement, while at the same time, coming from a guy who doesn’t count frames for everything and go abare with gut instinct sometimes, I can have just as much fun playing it like any other fighter and that’s kinda the cool thing I notice with VF sometimes, in that there’s is no set way to how you approach the game, although it’s not an excuse to go mash happy either.
Gotta compete with tekken in the big damage dial em up combos.
This is the one this im starting to hat about 3-d fighters get, but i guess thats what people like juggling.
It’s more like they want more chars to have actual juggle damage. I remember the best dmg Jeffry could get off a CH knee or windup hammer was just another jab more than his normal juggles.
It’s outta 2 or 5 for me.
Got the chance to see VF2 in the arcades but never really played it.
I always ran into and end up playing VF1…so, VF1 is the best for me.
VF4FT for me, though I admit I enjoyed VF1 &VF2 quite a lot
most likely VF4 Evo because it introduced me to Chibita, thus giving me a style to bite
although, now that a VF is out where Lion is finally top tier, it must be some weird cosmic joke that it seems stuck overseas and out of my reach ;_;
Virtua Fighter 2 and 4 evo, Jackie and Sarah FTW
VF4/EVO: It taught the basics of the VF system in lamens terms ON THE DISC. Not to mention it went back to VF2 speed. It didn’t look arcade perfect, but it played better than anygame out there at the time and even the current games
VF5 ver.C - At fist I wasn’t too big on 5 after playing it, but once I got a little better and the fact that I had(still do thanks to Live) comp that knows what the fuck is up, I really started to enjoy it. Whoever thinks El Blaze sucks can shoot themselves.
VF2 - It’s what got me into VF 'nuff said.
I don’t see R coming to the states which is cool, because I have a feeling VF5:FT is gonna drop in the 6 months and I would rather have THAT then R and being left out of the FT version. I just hope they keep R’s soundtrack for the FT console release.
This coming from someone who just found out how to SRK in a SF game at the Evo before last…yeah…
Virtua Fighter 2 vs Tekken 2

The best thing about it is that you can jump backwards forever to stall because the stage goes on infinately
I’ve only played VF4 once.
How is VF4 better than VF5?
I’m curious because that is my least played VF.
I have 5, I like 3, and I like 2.
I was never an expert in any of the VF games, I thought they were great fun.
Honest to god, the biggest turn off for me with VF5 is the look. Everything looks plastic and sweaty and leathery. Just hate it. I also think Goh in Evo/FT looks badass… but in 5, he just looks stupid. Same with Shun Di. Looks just plain stupid in 5. Plus, not a hell of a lot was changed from FT to 5 except input commands that totally threw me off. I just don’t care for the hole thing. The two new characters are also a big turn off (could they have found a shittier voice actor for El Blaze?).
VF4EVO for the training mode.
VF5 for the fact it’s been the only one that’s playable.
Dumbing down the VF5’s fight mechanics was a smart move for the franchise.
Turned out good.
Kinda hard to break new ground with the current state of 3D fighting games out now. Maybe in the next decade?
Which VF showed Sarah’s perky nipples? Was it VF4? That one was my favorite.
Not really. VF4 and doubly over VF4Evo were fucking huge. VF5 lost a lot of popularity. The only reason VF5 is more popular than VF4 here is because you can play it online.
I can understand them losing popularity in the states thanks to the recent wave of popular western games dominating the market around the same time, but I’ll be surprised if they lost any popularity in Japan. Wasn’t the online experience another reason that VF5 lost so much popularity in the first place?
I doubt the reasons for the game’s decline was the dumbing down of the mechanics.
I just figured that if some random beginner could finally pull off an Akira juggle with easier commands, that would spell something good for the game’s new accessibility to the average player.
Dude everyone in Japan hated the shit out of VF5 when it first came out. A lot of people quit and went to Tekken. Compare this to the VF4Evo era when it was always #2 behind whatever Gundam game was new at the time. Now it’s not even close to that spot. VF4Evo was HUGE. Even for a fighting game it was big.
