Favorite KOF boss?

For style, nobody can top Goenitz. Guy is slick as fuck, even if he’s kinda easy to beat once you learn how to react to his tornadoes. He and Dudley should have a GENTLEMAN FIGHT in CvS3.

As a character all-around, none of those '99+ chumps can ever beat Mr. Bernstein. ‘98 Omega Rugal didn’t play none of that bullet-hell/platformer shit, he just read every switch you hit and fed you a faceful of Genocide Cutter, Gigantic Pressure, Dead End Screamer, and THAT GODDAMN FIREBALL. He also had an awesome theme song and stage. Black metal grating with grotesque statuary, a Jacuzzi full of human blood, AND a hungry-ass shark outside waiting to eat the loser? Shit is no less than BANGIN’.

I wish they’d bring back Adel for the home version of XII so that he could carry on his father’s legacy. (Although his pale skinny ass will never be nearly as cool as his dad.)

True dat. Adel needs more muscle, tan, and porno stache to stand to his dad.

Mukai was an awesome design and not a bitch to play against

and yes Kain, fuckin pimp

I liked Krizald’s play style with emphasis on how he used his long legs. That one throw where he picks you up with his foot and then slams you down. That always hit a cool zone with me.

Shion was kinda fun to play as with all her options and styles though admittedly cheap.

pss…Shion is a dude…

everyone is saying krizalid:confused:

igniz is indeed one of the top3 best kof bosses

I had a really hard time beating him I once thought he was unbeatable

and he gives me that feeling that i’m really fighting against a God

Hell yes. Once the music starts (I know it’s 2K1’s shitty music, but whatever) and that outfit expands and starts moving, you know it’s on. He also has the best supers of any boss, hands down. Ignetic Shockwave, the 4-point explosion, and the mother of all SDMs, Brutal God Project. Even the HSDM they gave him in 2K2UM is badas. HE BLOWS UP THE GALAXY.

Yeah, I know but that fact slipped my mind having not played XI in a while and just being tired I tend to forget.

Mukai. He wasn`t cheap and i like his design.

I liked Orochi and Goenitz, just for their design and story relevance.

nooo why people just ignoring Orochi :(:(:frowning:

he is so cool and he looks the strongest (even if he’s not) he got an awsome voice and some “unhuman” moves!
but he’s the worst if you manage to play him, he got no combos and no useful moves:(

KoF 2000 and 2001 are my dark areas of KoF. I never have truly played them. So the bosses of them don’t mean much to me. And then 2003… I dislike the game overall, though I really liked Adelheid, his sister (Rose?) and Mukai…

I guess, overall, as a character, I like Goenitz best. That annoying, “Holier than Thou” attitude is so perfect for a boss. He gives off this feel that he REALLY thinks he’s in the right, and the way he talks and poses even kinda makes him look like a good guy… Then he starts tossings you around in wind, draining your body of an unsightly amount of blood, and pretty much beating you around in such casual, simple ways… “Soko desu ka!”

Orochi wins for a character I don’t LIKE as much, be he FEELS like something Japan would throw at us… a Deity-level opponent who can destroy reality around your ears. He’s so much the basis for Magaki… I think Magaki went overboard, and really kinda spits in the face of skill, and fun… Orochi already perfected the cheapy SNKboss style.

Honorable mention to Rugal, though. “Kayss-KuTTA!” (Well, it’s Genocide cutter now, but was it Chaos Cutter once, like in 95 or something?) He’s the ultimate “Games with no plot!” boss type, he blows himself up, trying to take you with him, it’s like he’s every “Evil badguy at the end of a series/movie”, rolled into one jerky, muscular frame. 98UM/DC Kof 98’s Omega Rugal’s “Dash right through you!” move was so cocky, it ranks as one of my favourite boss moves ever.

So, are Duke and Jivatma in in the running here, BTW? I really liked the fight with Duke. I felt he was the most sensibly-designed “KoF” boss, As if he was more STRONG than CHEAP. I felt more like I was fighting a really good player, rather than some super-npc.

My favorites are Goenitz and Omega Rugal. Both have really awesome music and stages, and I really like their designs.

'96 Goenitz, by a long shot.

Also, I agree that Magaki was an awful boss.

Every if not All versions of Rugal 94, 98, 2K2 and CvS2

Also Mukai I know most dislike KoF 2003 but it isn’t that bad, true there are some things they need to fix up but, its still fun.

EDIT:
Crap how the Hell do you HighLight on here?

Goenitz is the shit. Throws his tornadoes and asks if it’s okay like he really cares. Rugal is great too. Who doesn’t like someone that would rip the skin off their own chest.

I think Goenitz was the first KoF boss I actually beat, so he’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Plus he’s just pretty badass, and he actually had plot.

Rugal in all his incarnations is great, but special mention to his first appearance back in '94; Original Rugal always left you with the feeling that you could get him if you tried one more time, no matter how many times you lost.

Orochi was awesome up until the fight actually started. Gameplay wise, it was a pretty anti-climactic battle even if he did beat you.

But (and I’m probably the only person in the world with this opinion) Magaki is my favorite. He stands in the corner firing projectiles at you that seemingly come from every angle, totally negating your own projectiles, and if you manage to get in close he’ll just turn invisible to avoid your attack and blast you away in an instant. He’s really more of a Shmup boss than a fighting game boss. The only videos I’ve actually seen of people defeating him are people who lowered the difficulty. So after all that, why do I like him? Because he has made me suffer in ways that I never thought possible from a fictional character, and it’s just hilarious the amount of hate he inspires in people (myself included). Plus, he has one of the best boss battle themes of all time, and there’s the fact that he looks like the craziest thing ever.

i didnt really like rugal in 94, but his 95 version and later itterations are really nice. from a design standpoint, i really liked mukai, goenitz and especially igniz. the worst kof bosses are zero (both versions) and magaki imo. orochi was a cheap design but really cool in the powers he used. kirzalid deserves to be mentioned as one of the better bosses in the game.

Rugal. Dude was just … butter, nigga. Like, smooth as shit, but will DESTROY YOU UTTERLY.

Best SNK boss, though, is GEESE. REPPUKEN! DUBBO REPPUKEN! PREDICTABO!

Tie between Geese and Goenitz for me. But Goenitz was just cool as hell overall. His style, his Desperation command grab “Yami Doukoku” I think its called is just tight as hell where he pick you up from you head.

Also might i add he had one of the best themes for a snk boss. IMO
