Favorite Fighting Game Voices/Voice Actors

“Hadoken!” “Shoryuken!” “Powah Wave!” ect…

We’ve heard them a million times, and we still hear them to this day. Hell, some of us still quote them on occasion. So, this thread is dedicated to those character voices that spout out our favorite war cries in the heat of a battle!

I’ll list three of my favorite voice actors who’ve grunted, screamed and laughed for our enjoyment:

Daisuke Gori
Notable Character Voices: Heihachi Mishima from Tekken, Bass Armstrong from Dead or Alive and Raiden from King of Fighters(XII)

This guy’s got such a commanding voice. Can you imagine Heihachi without the deep, gravely voice that he’s had ever since Tekken 3? Mr. Gori’s also had a pretty storied career in voice-acting, providing his roles in such anime as Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam and Kinnikuman. It appears that he’s still keeping busy with recent appearances in KOF XII, so he should continue to provide his fierce tones in fighting games provided there’s a tough old guy in it.

Norio Wakamoto
Notable Character Voices: M. Bison/Dictator in Capcom vs SNK 2 and Street Fighter 4, and Johnny from Guilty Gear

Mr. Wakamoto has also had quite the career in voice acting, providing his smooth tones in what seems like hundreds of video games and anime. This guy has such a smooth way of talking, and it shows in pretty much all of the roles he has took on, particularly Johnny in GG. Also, he voices the best Bison that I’ve ever heard. Ah…I could listen to this guy talk for hours, he’s that good.

Satoshi Hashimoto
Notable Character Voices: Terry Bogard and Kim Kaphwan of the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series.

To me, Terry Bogard is the voice of fighting games. There’s no character quite like Terry in the way of quotable catchphrases. From what it seems, Mr. Hashimoto is pretty much only known for voicing Terry and Kim. If you ask me, that’s a huge honor. Mr. Hashimoto’s been voicing Terry and Kim for years, and is still rocking that awesome voice to this day! There will be no better voice for Terry, if you ask me. So, keep on “Burning!”, Satoshi!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. So, how bout’ the rest of you?

Harumi Ikoma - King)
Also the announcer of The King of Fighters '98.

Come on baby!

The voices of Kakyoin, Dio and Young Joseph in JJBA were exceptional imo.

Samples conveniently featured in this video.

Awesome picks, The Ultimate. To add to your list:

Masae Yumi - She voices Vice, Leona and Kasumi in the KoF series. Quite a variety of characters, eh?

Jouji Nakata - He voiced Kiriya in the Fate/UC (as in the anime), Nero Chaos in Melty Blood, Sol in GG2 and Goodman in NGBC. Of course outside these, he’s best known as the voiced of Hellsing’s Alucard. Perhaps his best feature is his deep voice, which is perfect for villains with class.

Akio Otsuka - He voiced Amano Hyo in Last Blade. Interesting to note that he also voiced a similar character in an anime/manga series; Shunsui in Bleach. There’s a lot more stuff the guy has voiced, amongst them Solid Snake.

Wataru Takagi - Would you believe that he’s the only one who voiced Zangief, Gen, Adon, Sodom and Birdie in the Alpha series? That’s how amazing his vocal range is. For you Ippo fans, he voices Aoki and is also known for voicing Onizuka Ekichi in GTO.

Eiji Yano - Another guy with a wide range of voices - Brian Battler and Kensou in KoF; Amakusa and Ukyo in Samsho and Freeman in MoTW.

Noboyuki Hiyama - Who can’t love hearing his hot blooded yells? Joe in KoF, Batsu in Rival Schools and even Isato Kaiza/Gowcaizer from Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer.

Takehito Koyasu - Usually he voices malicious evil guys like Eddie in Guilty Gear, but I always like hearing him as Shingo in KoF.

Good choices here as well. Dio has the more prominent FG voices; his VA (Chiba Isshin) voices Kyosuke in the Rival Schools series, Jin in Tekken and Rei in the HnK fighting game - after his original VA, Kaneto Shiozawa, passed away.

Interesting to note that Kaneto was the original voice of Zato-1 (whom changed to Eddie in respect of his death) and also Hyo in Rival Schools.

Whoever plays the English versions of SF4’s Dan, Rufus, and Balrog. All great, dripping with character, and hated by fools who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Ike and Wolf O’ Donnell’s English voice from Smash Bros. Brawl. Surly scouter-totin’ anthropomorphic bounty hunters are hot.

As for Japanese VAs, I’d say my favorite is probably whoever does Kyo Kusanagi.

I have to +1 this, Boxer, Dan, Rufus, and Bison are my favorite english voices.

Ken and Ryu’s english voices are weaksauce though, so is Rose’s.

I find that most of the japanese voices are just cooler sounding…Japanese is a more intonation heavy language than English, so maybe that is why.

Whoever does Alex’s voice in 3S should do more fictional characters from Manhatten. It’s spot on.

Seconded. I hate that they changed genjuro’s va to Toru Okawa (3s Ryu voice).

I gotta mention Tomomich Nishimura, the voice of Akuma/Gouki for a hella long period of time. He doesn plenty of Anime and also voiced Dictator in the Alpha games.

Toshiyuki Morikawa: DORYA!! This guy does well to convey the character of Kazuya in tekken. He also voices the JP Mitsurugi and did Ryu in the alpha days iirc.

Those three were great, especially Rufus. He’s got his character downpat and excels his JP VA by eons.

My only problem with both is how they sounded a bit awkard during their winposes; especially Ike with the “I fight for my friends” and Wolf with “I will be the one to abrupt pause take you down”. Otherwise, they’re good.

If you ever played Samurai Showdown, you’ll find it interesting that he voices undead goth Kubikiri Basara as well. When hearing Kyo and then hearing…that, I was wtfed.

She’s my favorite also

Voice of Blue Mary, Nakoruru, Charlotte as well

The entire English voice cast for KOF: Maximum Impact and Maximum Impact 2.

Every fucking KOF game…no, every FIGHTING GAME should be dubbed this way. I am not even kidding.

I just listen to the character who gives the biggest lulz when they do moves. Like Tizoc in MOTW.

BIGGG WHOREEEE

Isshin Chiba

He did voices for Jin Kazama since T3. He also did…believe it or not, Sean of 3S.

AND RAOH FUCKING RAOH HOW DID YOU MISS THAT :annoy:

Good thing I read to the end of the topic, or I would’ve posted the exact same thing.

And Wakamoto is probably the best voice actor ever, so naturally, his Bison is completely amazing.

That’s why I love Fighter’s History and World Heroes’ VA-ing the most out of the classic fighters. “BAKED POTATO!” (Ray) and “ACCENT SPEED!” (Rasputin) never gets old.

IIRC Chiba only voiced Sean in New Generation and 2nd Impact. Mitsuo Iwata voiced him in 3S and he also voiced Kusanagi in KoF '02/'03.

Angel from KOF has a real cute voice, if I remember correctly.

I like Orochi/Mizushi in NGBC(I think) too, especially when he says “Tenjou tenge…”

That’s all I can think of in the time I’m prepared to waste on a topic such as this :razzy:

Calm down.

That’s included in the “whole mess of anime” and this thread is about VG voices. He’s done so many memorable characters that it’s hard to mention any without derailing into a whole list.

One that surprised me was voicing Apollo Creed in the Japanese dubs of the Rocky movies.

I love her voice, especially when she goes “WINNAA”

I had to think back when i read this, and laughed
Used to play this at our local arcade which is long gone.
