“Hadoken!” “Shoryuken!” “Powah Wave!” ect…
We’ve heard them a million times, and we still hear them to this day. Hell, some of us still quote them on occasion. So, this thread is dedicated to those character voices that spout out our favorite war cries in the heat of a battle!
I’ll list three of my favorite voice actors who’ve grunted, screamed and laughed for our enjoyment:
Daisuke Gori
Notable Character Voices: Heihachi Mishima from Tekken, Bass Armstrong from Dead or Alive and Raiden from King of Fighters(XII)
This guy’s got such a commanding voice. Can you imagine Heihachi without the deep, gravely voice that he’s had ever since Tekken 3? Mr. Gori’s also had a pretty storied career in voice-acting, providing his roles in such anime as Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam and Kinnikuman. It appears that he’s still keeping busy with recent appearances in KOF XII, so he should continue to provide his fierce tones in fighting games provided there’s a tough old guy in it.
Norio Wakamoto
Notable Character Voices: M. Bison/Dictator in Capcom vs SNK 2 and Street Fighter 4, and Johnny from Guilty Gear
Mr. Wakamoto has also had quite the career in voice acting, providing his smooth tones in what seems like hundreds of video games and anime. This guy has such a smooth way of talking, and it shows in pretty much all of the roles he has took on, particularly Johnny in GG. Also, he voices the best Bison that I’ve ever heard. Ah…I could listen to this guy talk for hours, he’s that good.
Satoshi Hashimoto
Notable Character Voices: Terry Bogard and Kim Kaphwan of the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series.
To me, Terry Bogard is the voice of fighting games. There’s no character quite like Terry in the way of quotable catchphrases. From what it seems, Mr. Hashimoto is pretty much only known for voicing Terry and Kim. If you ask me, that’s a huge honor. Mr. Hashimoto’s been voicing Terry and Kim for years, and is still rocking that awesome voice to this day! There will be no better voice for Terry, if you ask me. So, keep on “Burning!”, Satoshi!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. So, how bout’ the rest of you?
