So you make a personal attack in the second paragraph, but hide behind the fact that you yourself recognize that it does not stem from any “valid points or concerns” and therefore unsound?
His daughter didn’t do anything that teenagers haven’t been doing since the dawn of modern humans. Teenagers will always be rebellious and resist authority just as the elderly will slow down and forget things. It’s a phase that all teenagers go through regardless of what their parents do.
However, if this guy believes that his daughter acting out is a serious problem, then it’s not hard to see where she gets it from. If it isn’t just teen angst and his daughter truly feels animosity towards her parents, then he needs to sit down with his daughter and possibly seek professional help to find out what the root cause of the problem is instead of acting like a petty and vengeful child himself and doing something to get her back. By doing what he did, he’s teaching her that when someone steps our of line and bruises your ego, it’s okay to engage in outlandish actions to show them who’s boss. This will do nothing but alienate his daughter from him even more, and if he keeps this up, I wouldn’t be surprised if he never sees his grandchildren.
I read a comment in the link in the OP that they talked it out and everything is fine. Just because he said she’ll never get a laptop again doesn’t mean that it can’t be negotiated. And maybe now she’ll go out and find a job. Maybe now she’ll realize why it’s important to keep your living space clean (I know waaaaay too many people who live like pigs. I mean really what’s so hard about a single man keeping his bathroom, kitchen, and bed room clean. If you spent an hour a day cleaning your place should look great). Maybe the next time she wants to act out what her hormones are telling her she should she won’t and just approach the issue like an adult.
Not to mention that even bad publicity is good publicity. This girl’s dad calmly went HAM on her over the internet (and clearly spent time discussing it with his wife so he didn’t come in like some raging sociopath). Even if she does end up looking like an idiot at school she’s going to have so much more popularity now.

His daughter embarassed him online, he did the same to her. At least he didn’t personally show her picture or say her full name or anything. Sure he went a little over the top, but who cares, what’s the point of making a youtube video of him taking away her laptop so she gets it in the future.
She basically slandered a handful of people, and thought she got away with it. He made an awesome punishment out of it, and got some media attention out of it.

If you want to know why his daughter acts the way she does, then look no further than her egomaniacal father and his anger issues.

You know, the likelihood of one of those bullets ricocheting off a rock or some other obstruction and hitting one of those cars (or its driver) is about as likely as if he hit the laptop with a hammer and the battery flew out of it and hit a car (or its driver).
