I hate the characters too but how the fuck would it be unnecessary?
Their best friend got killed, and they potentially find out that it was planned. It’d make no sense for them to go “Oh, whatever, we’ll just stay here”.
The only way they’d have no reason to show up is if they didn’t know about it at all, which would defeat the purpose of Dom being in Tokyo to begin with.
But the right thing to do would’ve been to completely render Tokyo Drift out of canon, or at the very least not connect Han’s death to the real main characters.
I mean, why the fuck did that shit have to be planned? The way we initially thought he died was fine. Desperation trying to escape cost him. It was simple and made sense. They could’ve had the next Big Bad go after the group in a different way. Lord knows that the main squad has PLENTY of characters to kill off for that.
The scriptwriters have to realize not EVERYTHING has to be really connected. But if they’re going to go out of the way to retcon Han’s death like that, it means they probably plan to use at least one or two of the TD cast, regardless if we want them to or not.
Would you even say its a retconned death? Nothing about the scenario changed and upon watching Tokyo Drift, we never got a good look at the car that hit him. Its a genius reveal personally to have Statham’s character be the one to take him out like that. Wouldn’t mind seeing Lucas Black and Bow Wow come back if only because they had a friendship with Han just like Dom and Co. did.
Sounds all too convenient for Statham to have taken him out. Like he knew they where going to ave a car chase that would be using that road, crossing that intersection at that exact moment?
Lol. So I wasn’t the only one who was taken by surprise by Vin/Rock wire-fu and the villain with random martial arts. Definitely a wtf moment, but it didn’t hurt the movie, I just ran with it.
No one pointing out the fact that Statham tosses Letty’s necklace on the ground towards Han as the car is burning? Basically implying that she was brought back and once again killed off in the span of one movie.
Letty never got the necklace back. She just gave it to the bad guy and said “all yours”
Big bro probably went to the hideout, scoped out shit. Failsafes and all the files on dom’s crew.
Again statham could have been paying the overemotional japs to get han into a specific area and blam.
Seriously, you saw how stupid the japs were portrayed in td, would make sense for a black ops connected and smooth talking merc could use them to take out his target basically.
Everyone but Boss Takada (it’s Takada right? I honestly forget) was indeed stupid but he was the one that pointed it out.
And if you assume that the Yakuza were so terribly stupid to not notice then how were they smart enough to run Han straight into the perfect trap?
And the Yakuza WERE terribly stupid to not notice. But I do like to assume that Takada notice a skim was happening for a while but tried to give his nephew a chance to take care of shit on his own, which he of course failed to do.
i was kinda pissed…if he was such a badass kicker…id love for him to display it alot earlier. instead of a cramped spot…lol. everytime i see a kicker in a movie i think drunken master 2 with ken lo.
