Fast Food Strike in 50 Cities

Yeah I’ve changed my stance on the whole unionization of walmart. The thing is, these shitty companies are using taxpayers like me to subsidize their low wages (and subsequently record profits). All those government handouts going to poor people are a result of mcdonalds and walmart not paying enough. those corporations reap all the profits, while I am on the hook. I hope the workers unionize, negotiate much higher pay, force them to give paid sick leave, and all that good stuff. i now see unions as the best way to stick it to those rich fucks that are taking advantage of me.

Best case scenario walmart goes out of business, and the mom and pop stores that they ruined come back. Unions AND giant corporations like walmart both die off in one fell swoop, best case scenario.

Anyway from what I’ve been reading, minimum wage increase does not cause too much inflation. I’d be much more worried about helicopter ben and his quantitative easing.

here’s an interesting article on bloomberg, which is pro capitalist and anti liberal self entitled handout seeking communists:

Some seriously out of touch with reality looking mother fuckers in this thread. Must be a bunch of Engineers and tech guys…

Good thing I am not a fat ass that eats this shit otherwise I might care…

These people are funny. If they get that through, they’ll be unemployed and Foxconn will have to supply US with burgerbots. Also kids on McJob wtf. Unionization is fun for the educated, less so for the poor.

nigga syntheisis…

I agree…fuq a call center…lol

People should be able to support families on part time jobs meant for high school students looking for some extra cash.

Word? People don’t want to work? I’ve been looking for a second job and I HATE people anyway so this seems right up my alley.

$15 is not enough money if you want to become Union. I work grocery at ~$20 an hour for not doing shit, and Im glad we aren’t Union.

But who doesn’t love unnecessary complications and inflexibility? I mean, better to get fired, no?

I just called my Mcdonalds & they are open…She sounded kind of pissed off at me…“yessssss, we are open” Might stop by get one of those chocolate chip frappuccino today…

I’ll mak

What chain do you work for?

Whats really sad is how apparently shitty paying all lot of peoples real careers are in here that they’d consider a 15/hour fast food job. Not commenting on your shitty jobs, just the overall state of low wages

to provide a bit of perspective to all the people posting in this thread.

50 years ago in 1963 during the march on Washington one of the things they included in their request was the enactment of the minimum wage, then set at $2 an hour. Adjusted for inflation that wage would equal over $15. The gradual destruction of smaller businesses and unions has been the major factor in the squeezing of the working population of this country, during the last 30 to 40 years measures of wealth in the country and in corporations have done nothing but increase, gdp, profits, worker productivity, costs etc. the only thing that hasn’t followed that trend has been worker pay. The reason for this is the types of short-sided opinions being posted in here now of “if they get paid that much i’m going to leave my job and go do easy work” doesn’t really account for the increased economic activity of suddenly not having this entire block of citizens living below the poverty line WHILE working full time. Also i think a lot of you are underestimating what those positions entail, while they may not be anywhere close to skilled labor, you would be on your feet almost the entire day moving back and forth from stations to grab things, clean nasty shit etc all while in hot environment and probably burning yourself every once in a while… something tells me a lot of you that are so outspoken would work that type of job for maybe a week and starting looking longingly for your desk job back…

upwards mobility in this country is down significantly as are average wages for everyone except for the top 10% (and even amongst them the advantages as you go to the top 1, and then the top .1 etc is incredibly staggering) and they have accomplished that mostly by convincing the rest of the population that we havn’t kept up with the other economic gains of the system because of the lazy people at the bottom, or perhaps certain union workers in the middle when if you look at the situation objectively they have done nothing but extract from this entire nation for a long time.

but if you guys want to continue subsidizing each and every piece of shit employer that comes around wanting workers to be available full time, while working a second job and taking food stamps as well as other government assistance? oh hell no.

highlulu probably works at Mcdonalds…

Or doesn’t have an asian wife

statistics say that 50% or mor of us employees make less than or equal to 35k a year. as “low” as the cost of living is in tx, that’s not even enough to live alone.

Holy shit my sides

I make around 50k and I’d be stretched way thin if I was going it alone.

IMO, I hope this dominoes into something larger. Ever since the bubble burst, everyone has had to work harder, longer, and with the same or even less pay while the rich continue to give themselves more money. Fuck the man, give the burger flippers a raise.

juJu

Won’t spell it, out but we aren’t that big, but trying to be. We have a corny Hawaiian theme, and our product sells itself, so I can tell people “don’t buy that it tastes terrible” and get a “thanks for letting me know” from the customer, and a “oh Femto, is there anything silly…you won’t say, lol” from management.

incorrect, i’m a sys admin… but i have worked at mcdonalds and 2 pizza places during highschool and college.

correct.
