If this a super tourney I’d be down. Im new to ND in general but im in minot right now. how far is that from fargo?
YO HAWK im try to make out there. 21st is the date right?
To those who showed up for the event today, great games, and I am really looking forward to doing it again, hopefully sometime soon. Sorry to anyone who missed out, we should have checked in a bit closer to the tourney date with further updates. The bracket/results can be found here. As far as the portions of the bracket that were not completely filled out, Adam Stastny won against Dropped Links in Loser’s Finals; Adam then faced off against Slitz in Grand Finals, but Slitz proved to be too tough and took home the top spot.
As always, Mike and company (myself included) will continue to run Sunday afternoon casuals, starting around noon at the Park Ave. Apartments Community Room.
Hey guys, I’m one of a few MSUM players looking to check out the FM fighter scene a bit. I’m a recovering member of the msum brawl crew, we used to have a fairly active scene down at S9 but that sorta died out last year after the results started turning up the same for half a year straight. A few of us picked up SSF4 in august and a couple of our most dedicated players have sticks on the way as we slowly get a little more serious about the game. We’d love to drop by for a sunday casual, pads in hand sometime just to see where we stand, and sometime next year we’d be interested in tourney play. If I were to make a blind count i’d say we’d have 3 or 4 players drop by for a casual this year.
If you want to get ahold of me before something starts, do so at three two zero, four two zero, three four zero four, spoool will do or Dustin if you must.
Soooooooooo, I’m a little bit late for this thread I’m sorry
My name is Ben! I’m from Fargo and I play viper on laggy psn. Add me and we can play a set from time to time.
PSN= PK_fire
We need to get more Fargo-Moorhead peeps in on this thread. Also, I’m an MSUM student and fighting game lover. I’m on MvC3 and SSF4 for XBL as K0LD X.
Also, I’m looking at holding a tournament or two in the next month. I’ll keep people posted.
How about make this an ND thread?
Grand Forks representing!
I’m a brawl player that finally turned over to the dark side.
For those interested the Twin Cities scene, and WI’s Focus Fire, are going to be hosting a 2-day tournament gaming event over the first weekend of April. Details at http://shoryuken.com/f7/games-n-go-presents-combo-breaker-april-2nd-april-3rd-mounds-view-minnesota-266057/ or GNG Championships: Combo Breaker.
We’re going to have tons of setups, side tournaments, casual gaming, a bowling alley, pinball, bars, after hours parties, mashing, and more.
I hope to see some of you guys make it out. Show the scrubs a good time and give our elite players a challenge.
Looking forward to seeing you guys.
I’m a native Minnesotan, so I’m hoping I can make it back around then and get some good tourney time in. I’ve been to other GnG tournies. (Only for Brawl though)
One thing I would like to ask though: Are all of the other fighters run at GnG tourneys seeded as poorly as the Brawl ones have been in the past? I mean, I’m a no name at any of the games I’d bother to play at GnG this time around, but back when I played Brawl I noticed that the seeding was absolutely horrid.
In the past all titles have been seeded by different individuals. I haven’t heard complaints from most of the non-smash titles. Regardless though, with the new venue and increased presentation quality we’ve got a greater focus being put into judging and seeding with Combo Breaker. While I can’t guarantee that friend A won’t face friend B in the early rounds (as the amount of entrants will effect the bye structure, etc) I’m trying to make sure our bracket runners apply regional seeding to the brackets.
Hope that info helps and I’ll look forward to seeing you make it out. If you’ve got anymore questions or concerns please let me know.
Hey guys, figured I’d float this along since we’re getting things finalized for it. But Section 9 will be holding a MvC3 tournament at the end of April. You can find all the details here.
Just a quick reminder that after a brief hiatus, there is a small group of players that still meets up Sundays at noon here in Fargo. We play primarily SSF4, but we also throw in some HD Remix and 3s occasionally. If interested in attending, please hit me up via this thread, PM, or email sirbleh a t sirbleh d o t org.
I’d be down for attending. Sundays are my day off for work, and I’ve been looking for a group I can practice with.
For the interested the Combo Breaker venue has added discounted food, discounted cosmic bowling, discounted rooms, and drink specials for our event. Figured every penny counts and I’d let y’all know.
and I would also like to say that if somebody needs help finding housing, I can help with that if people aren’t feeling the whole getting a hotel room business.
So far I’ve got 2 guaranteed from the GF area and a possible 3rd. I’ve got room for 4 in my car, so don’t be afraid to hit me up gentlemen!
Hi I’m new here to ND, just got stationed on Grand Forks AFB. I was wondering where the nearest competition is. I play mvc3, tekken, and blazblue.
I live down I-94 about 90 minutes or so, over the summer anyways. If there’s any SSF4 or MvC3 tournies or anything over the summer, I have a friend of two who’d totally be for making a trek up there, schedule permitting. Never been to a tourney, and I live in a farming community. And getting to Fargo/Moorhead is much easier than the Twin Cities.
hey Viciou$ I’m a student at the University and I wouldn’t mind making a trip over there or having you over here for some gaming. I’m also going to the cities for GnG Combo Breaker if you would want to hitch a ride haha
Looks fun but I gotta work that Saturday. We can get some games in tho, I’m free Friday evening, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t have a system atm, it broke at Final Round XIV and Im sending it to Sony for repairs. What’s your cell number?
