who is it that uses that color remy? i can’t remember.
Fran, I was in total agreement until you called uraken a jungle player
I’m actually more curious what some of the Japanese players think. would be cool for the guys studying abroad in Japan right now to ask them this kinda stuff over some beers.
The Engrish just made it so much more epic had it been in Japanese.
when i first discovered 3s i use to watch FFA matches and watch every video theShend uploaded people keep saying this game is dead and for some reason i still play it time to time but havent unsubscribed from Theshend either.

So to be serious and actually try to answer your question cong…
No, players never live up to the hype. The hype is overblown and almost always created by fans who barely understand what those players are doing. They tend to be only mildly interested viewers/fans to begin with. What most of us have for those players isn’t hype, but respect. That doesn’t mean we’re not fans, but we don’t really tend to over-represent the players abilities (except when we’re playing around/teasing/trolling). The people who do over-represent (hype) players or become super emotionally involved are typically idiots or those mildly interested fans who aren’t really interested enough to bother respecting the actual player, their abilities, or the scene. You shouldn’t pay attention to them really.
Do these 3S players live up to the respect given them? Very often, yes. The hype, no (Exceptions: Higa, Dander). The respect, yes.
Also, don’t think of players in an ALL TIME sense. That’s cheesy and disrespectful to the scene around them, to the scene before them, and to the scene after them. There’s too many factors that limit a person’s peak play to a small amount of time already and there’s no way that we can account for how they would have done had they simply been born and grown up 3 to 7 years later or earlier. Different mentalities, different opponents, different experiences, different access to information regarding the game itself, etc.
For me, I don’t think any of the players you listed in the OP are undeserving of mad respect.
If you’re not in Japan playing against these guys (in their prime), you really can’t tell how good they are/were. Some of the comments in this thread are just as bad as what you can find on youtube…
I am still a hardcore fan of Hayao
This is the Fan Boy thread. I think we’re allowed to claim supremacy based on sheer fanboyism and idiocy, while calling each other stupid poopyheads if we disagree. Is it as bad as Youtube warriors? Yes. But we have cong to blame for making this thread…
ps deshiken rulz diago is a fucker
aku is the best photographer (x translator x cheer section)
Dander is the best parappa the rappa cosplayer, erryday (DougFunnie?!)
I’ve tried to be both of those things, but I can never be on their level of mastery.
The one off youtubes/streams/flv nico videos we all should be lucky for, again seen of any players is not indicative of their total play. Who are they playing? When are they playing but you aren’t watching them encapsulated in one match or group of matches recorded? How do they fare then? How do they do when the stakes are high? What do their peers think of them?
Some tough and not so tough questions if you’d just consider them at all and not get caught in the wide world of youtube and it filtering down into here.
I have a cool comment from a fan boy, when I lost to Q. “Blinguo was kicking your ass, you just got lucky” or when I played some japan dood, probably… some 10 yrs old kid with my Q “i like how he’s playing like its ssf4 dumbass should go back to that game.” Harsh.
TRUE DAT
NEVER BET AGAINST JUSTIN (except at SBR that was sers bs how could he lose to neo and fanatiq lol)
any link for that?

I think I’m a bit of a Vanao fanboy. I think 3S Ryu is the funnest version of the character in any SF game and his style shows why.
Oh snap this american player just beat this Japanese player first to 100! (any game)
Fanboys: well you see here, that japanese player usually only does good at first to 110 games… so this really isn’t a fair match.
End of thread.
3rd Strike is the best and we’ll jerk it to our own exaggerated expectations of our favorite players all we want.
Thread keeps going.
Oh yeah, i love dander
Dander was mad in this old thread (searching where matt says pherai) that Matt likes pherai.
Well, see, only one guy can be the “ilovepherai” club president. There is nothing you can do about that if the length of his term is absolute and forever and he’s never stepping down. So you just need to get your fanboy card # lower than anyone else.
Aku, president of the Dander club!?!
