You don’t have to be a fan boy of the best though. I have no idea who the better Ken is but Deshiken is very entertaining to watch.
Sames goes for Mimora. Most amazing Makoto matches i’ve seen in recent years but it’s hard for me to say he’s the best…or anyone else is.

Spellmaster J won more when it mattered though. Solid play over crazy execution matters.

poor general deshi from kyushu could never count too much on his troops
spellmaster himself,when he “retired” in 2006 or so,said :
“nowadays,the level of the game is too high for me”
but things are obviously way more complicated than that (x is better than y)
spellmaster had little talent but he could play all day,and for years,against the best players in the world [tokyo]
i am sure kyushu had and has its fair share of good players but it is hard to improve if you can’t play stronger people
kyushu had goemon,ushi,mokomokofu but…little else

you play at monkeyhouse and your local chun is kinda meh,then you go to tokyo and you have to play nuki,mov and rikimaru

when i was just starting with third strike,i thought spellmaster was ok
i thought sugiyama was a sick necro and rx a monster
i have changed opinion on many many players because now i pay attention to a lot of stuff
most people just want to see who wins the match and the winner is automatically the best
some of the players i used to like…i think they are not very good at all
they just auto-pilot all the way or,even worse,play the japanese version of jungle strike (uraken)
in other cases (rx) i can’t say he’s not “good” or “strong” but i simply prefer a different style (pierre)
but,again,very complicated…
i think rikimaru said "rx is not very good,all he does / wants is a low blocking so he can start the combo video"
or something similar along those lines anyway

sure nobody likes ume ken (or maybe ume in general, but i can say i am a fanboy), but it’s very hard to say he wasn’t strong. added to the fact he wasn’t entirely devoted to 3rd, because simply put he knew how to play street fighter, like nuki and tokido, etc.

I used to love boss…not so much these days, he is still beast tho.
its becoming more clear to me every time I’m watching 3s footage as to what style I prefer.
also I really dislike tominaga, complains about chun, but then watch him play nuki, all he does is jump tsurugi or j.mk
