Fallout: New Vegas

Just had my first corrupt save game. This happened to me once or twice on FO3 as well. I lost a ton of progress, I had pretty much gotten my character where I wanted to and was working on several achievements before the crash.

I bought this game today, but I will probably wait on opening it until all this retarded shit gets fixed. FO3 was fucked up but New Vegas sounds even worse.

Eh, New Vegas has lots of freezes and bugs, it’s kinda disappointing. My shit freezes at LEAST once or twice every 2-3 hours. It’s mad annoying. One time I was unable to load the strip (and I restarted 3 times) Thankfully I had an earlier save. That being said… always have 3-4 save files if you can, they’ll come in handy.

The game is pretty sweet so far, I think it’s pretty equal with FO3. I hate that you can’t max out all your skills and become a God (FO3) but then it adds to re-playability. Also, I wish I would have known that # of implants allowed = your base endurance. And I only started with 4 endurance arg…

But the game has been fun so far. Who also shot the Lottery Ticket winner to steal his ticket? lol

Haha, but do you realize what the lottery was?

Lottery

Spoiler

Legion comes in, gives everyone a ticket. They start pulling tickets, if they call your number you die. Last person left wins the lottery and gets to leave alive; second to last person gets to live but gets their legs broken; Last few before that taken as slaves. everyone else dies.

So that ticket won’t do you much good : P

I had a save going into that town where I was dressed as NCR and they all fought me, I used my incinerator and killed them all kiting with stimpacks after like 15 tries. Used up a ton of supply, got a cool chainsaw knife from the leader guy; then I realized it wasn’t supposed to go down like that, so I restarted from an earlier save and completed that section like normal. Now I miss my chainsaw knife.

Yeah, of course. that’s why I asked. haha. I actually loled in real life when I found out. Kudos to the writers for that one.

Yeah it it glitching on me now, my follower is stuck in a tower in The Old Mormon Center and will not move out of it.

Yeah I walked into the lottery town and had the Vexillarius or whatever tell me to spread word of the legion. i was like, you’re monsters! and he’s all, if you don’t like it, kill us.
so i did.

chugging vodka, stimpacks, stuffing my face with med-x and food. brought them all down.
asked the wrong wanderer to be a witness, ya fucks

Seems like the autosave and quicksave issue has been. I’ve been playing it again.

Good news. The in game bugs I can kinda deal with, but when my saves are compromised I don’t want to waste my time.

u mad.

imo.

I updated on Xbox too and it does seem to not be as bad. Pathetic though that it wasn’t beta tested. Absolutely no excuse.

I don’t know if they think it’s some sort of anti-piracy or something. I pirated the game and I’m glad I did. It sure as hell didn’t stop me from hopping on Live and downloading the patch, just annoyed me is all that I had to do it, since I had to use my laptop and bridge my wireless connection to do so.

This game was good enough to be the GOTY, although I can understand those that like Mass Effect 2 more or another game. But with these bugs, and they’re not even harmless, excusable bugs, but game breaking huge obvious bugs that were corrected within 2 days of release, the game is mediocre at best.

If you can “fix” bugs 2 days after release, you should have noticed it before you submitted it for finalization for console, or released on PC period. You obviously fixed the problems easily, and you obviously realized there was a problem. The only way you can act that fast is if you knew ahead of time what the problems were and had the fix ready. Which means it should have been in the release period.

Ha. Consumers in this thread acting like they’ve ever been involved in actual testing.

Like someone mentioned earlier, it’s all well and good to say there’s a bug, but if the programmers don’t have proof, you don’t get anything changed.

The fix was probably being made around the time the game was sent off for the initial press run - fixes don’t just MAGICALLY appear the instant someone raises a defect in a system. It’s just the way that a development project works. Sometimes you have to accept some faults and go live anyway, whilst working on fixes that can be deployed at a later date.

All in all, yes, there should have been a beta, but get the fuck over it and play the game.

Haven’t encountered many bugs with the PC version so far despite seeing all the posts bitching about them on line. Only experienced a couple CTD’s but nothing really noteworthy. Downloaded a couple graphics mods and tweaked the .ini file, the game’s performance has been running pretty well since.

I think people’s first mistake is getting the game for console instead of PC, especially if they already had a good enough computer to run it. The Gamebryo engine might be dated, and the bugs might be due to the engine unable to handle all the objects and scripting Beth/Obs puts into their games but it’s also really mod friendly. In which case the pros outweigh any negatives.

I’d love to see the next TES or FO4 use CryEngine 3 or id Tech 5 however.

I seem to be one of the lucky few that hasn’t had many problems with the game. It’s only frozen twice (still more than other games but no where close to game breaking) and a couple of weird animation and clipping glitches. I have noticed some people claiming glitches when it’s really just a poorly written event script (for example you’ll have to find an talk to someone even though the quest says to talk to someone else). It can get a little frustrating when you’ve done everything the quest said to do and you have to figure out some way to move the quest along.

I left everyone alone. I’m staying pretty neutral so far. I just don’t care about either faction. wonder whats gonna be up with mr. house tho.

also picked the cherchez le femme perk instead of black widow. Probably wasted a perk but o well maybe SOMETHING will happen.

The guass rifle and anti materiel rifle combined with high sneak and a bunch of bonuses to crit are OP as hell. I can drop Deathclaw Alphas/Mothers with a single head shot. If you use energy weapons or guns you need to pick one of these up.

did anyone play this through the main quest only and not get a single bug? i only got one lockup thru a hardcore playthrough helping yes-man. 25 saves, mostly auto’d the whole way pre-patch on 360. when people talk bugs are they mostly talking the corrupt saves, cuz i don’t remember anything beyond a few lockups and stretchy models in fallout 3 either. is it a pc thing?

You know honestly i’m gonna do like i did the preview Fallout game and wait till ALL the DLC’s come out in like a Game of the Year edition.

Don’t be a fucking idiot. If people pay 60 bucks for something, they’re expecting the product to work properly and not impede their enjoyment by having a game be glitchy as fuck.

So I’m about to set of for Nipton, to see what the fuck is up, sans Ghost’s request.

Up to this point, I’m only villified by the Powder Gangers on account of … killing them all. xD I don’t know if it was a wise decision or not though. I went into NCR Correctional Facility and immediately got attacked by everyone though, so I didnt’ really have a choice. Though, it was probably due to the fact I was wearing an NCR Bandoleer Outfit. Then again, I got shot at by them before I even did the mission in Goodsprings and on the map randomly, so maybe they’re just jerkfaces like that. It told me I failed a mission during the course of the killing though. I don’t know what mission that could of been. : / When I do a second play-through, I’ll probably be an evil character though, and I’ll try and just be cool with them. I guess just wearing a Powder Ganger outfit will let me get in their without having to shoot the place up.

Who are the NCR’s enemies other than Powder Gangers and Caesar’s Legion? I don’t want to get instantly shot at for wearing NCR armor (even though it’s so good right now) so I kept my Leather Armor on hand to switch off to.
