ugh, WTF do most unarmed perks require melee levelups first/as well? fuckin lame.
custom bullets (hand loader perk) = awesome!
I just need to find an AM rifle in hardcore mode. modded hunting rifle/sniper rifles aren’t enough to take down most deathclaws yet even in sneak critical. I think I just need to tap all critical bonus perks so I can do one shot kill. Once they are aware, it takes forever to kill them.
Now that I have some time I started playing again. Got the mod manager off nexus and started installing shit like crazy. Pip boy readius + colored world map + fallout 1/2 theme = awesome.
My understanding at least for the first DLC is it has to be done PRE-FINISH. It does not extend the game after the ending.
I can’t speak for all faction camps, but Cottonwood Cove for instance, I destroyed every lousy slaver there and they haven’t come back, but I did get a unique set of dog tag knuckles there, recompense of the fallen or something… they’re pretty damn good, even with my 10 unarmed.
Alright. Hmm that is kinda disappointing, because while dicking around with the Legion quest for Caesar I destroyed them all without much trouble. I didn’t want to hand over my chip so I was fuck that noise punched Caesar in the chest.
I think I’m going to try and just wipe out every single establishment during a play through. Empty map play through - lol. It’s gotta be possible, it would just take a lot of time and bullets. I wonder if you could fuck yourself over, so that you couldn’t finish the game if you killed too many cities. Hum …
It is kind of lame that the faction camps don’t ever get new troops shipped in, but at the same time it’s kind of cool to see that your actions actually have permanent consequences. Since I totally wiped out Forlorn Hopes a few NPCs have been mumbling about the Legion wiping out the camp. ^o^ I’ve had those douchey Rangers come up to me and tell me to ‘Raise my reputation with NCR or else’ but I think that’s glitched now too. lollll Like, she told me it’s my last day to live three times now I think. Next time, I’m just shooting her in the back of the head afterwards.
In the very beginning of the game when you run into the legion at Nipton, I blasted those fools with a flamer. It was stupid since I was only on level four, but the fuckers chased me for a bit and I could not kill them so I escaped with a Stealth boy. However, the stealth boy eventually gave out and the legion dudes just stopped chasing me even in plain sight. I could talk to them and the no longer showed up as red on the HUD.
New Vegas was one of the Treasure Hunt Achievements for steam today, good thing too because they didn’t put it on sale or anything. Course I’m only going for 15 achievements for the TF2 hat, but the more games I own/achievements I already own the better.
I think the game is easier on the PC version. The bars go up much slower in hardcore mode. On the Xbox if I ran around for 10 minutes dude was dehydrated, and it got pretty annoying. If I slept for any amount of time he was dying of thirst and hunger (lol).
But the problem for me on PC is that this game is coded so badly that it’s not working well for me. There are some various fixes that people came up with but none work too well. I have a GTX 470 and it should play anything that I can throw at it right now, and it does…except this, because somehow it gets only half performance and there are bugs with NPCs and turning. So I’ve just been playing Dragon Age while hoping there are better patches for New Vegas and newer drivers for the vidcard that fix all the problems. Right now I think Dragon Age in general has better mods anyway, as I thought it would.
How is New Vegas easier on the PC version? All of that stuff should be the same, unless it’s a bug. Right?
The game’s timescale setting would determine how fast you getting dehydrated and hungry, that should be exactly the same across all platforms, with the PC having the ability to change the settings via console ~
Just started playing on PS3. Plan to get NCR and BoS rep. Anything I should know, like point of no return? I’m going to try to platinum this game, but I dont’ want to do multiple playthroughs, just multiple saves.
The point of no return is very clearly stated. Unless you go out and kill the head of a faction or something.
You will have to very carefully manage your saves if you want to do it without playthroughs, you only get 100 of them (on 360 at least) and there are quite a few things that can be done multiple ways.
New patch fixes a ton of issues for me, the game plays fairly well. I still crash at some point, and I’m not sure why. I thought it might be the CPU but my CPU is actually pretty cool, and NV doesn’t even use it all that much. My vidcard doesn’t look like it’s taxed either really. At some point though GPU usage jumps to 99 and it just crashes. Strange because I’ve used Kombuster to test for about 20-30 mins at 100% CPU and there’s no crash. I guess I could lower my OC settings or test for an hour one day, but it’s not like NV would tax it that much. I think it’s probably a memory leak problem or something.
Dragon Age actually crashed even more so I gave up and erased it. I’ve actually played the hell out of both games on Xbox, and due to crashing issues I’m not even sure it’s better for PC overall. I’ve read these issues don’t happen outside of Windows 7, which makes me think I should have just stuck with XP Pro SP3 still. I might wind up doing that anyway, although I’d probably format the drive and I don’t really want to do that either. I knew I should have put XP Pro in but I wanted to test out DX11 and I knew a new OS would have most of my drivers for my hardware. Oh well, I still have my XP disk so it’s still an option if it really annoys me. I might just stick with XP Pro for the rest of my life at this rate.
Well you could always create a dual boot XP / 7 system and use that as a workaround. Personally, I’m not going back to XP after using Windows 7 since the Beta than RC and now retail… But I also haven’t had the same problems you have with games crashing and such.
Might be your drivers. Try a clean install (uninstall drivers + CCleaner registry clean twice + delete folder, both under main drive or program files folder and under User/appdata folders as well + reboot, then install). Also run windows update, it actually fixes things now. lol.
New Vegas is shittily coded though. Crashes a lot less for me compared to FA3 but the gameplay is buggy.
XP offers no advantage to 7 in terms of gaming unless you are playing really old games. memory caching, better memory handling, etc.
That’s definitely another possible option, but I feel XP is a far better OS. I don’t like most of the Windows 7 changes. Also, yes, in terms of older games, I wanted to try out the Knights of the Old Republic game that everyone loved. I don’t think it is compatible at all in 7, so it’d be another draw for XP.
I have 2 games I want to finish on 7 before I go back to XP. But there is a very high chance that I will just use XP. Also Windows 7 doesn’t have good wireless support right now either afaik. A game like New Vegas doesn’t even use DX11…almost nothing I’d want to play does. Civ 5 does but I can’t even tell the difference lol.
I might give 7 another shot at some point, but not for a few years. I doubt I will like it until at least SP2 and very likely an SP3.
