Where is a good place to stash items? Im rolling a Hardcore Unarmed file and was wondering if there was a spot where shit wouldn’t get jacked.
I’ve been using the hotel in my room at the Dino Dee-Lite motel in Novac, since that’s a secure place. You could probably leave stuff at Doc Watson’s too I’d imagine, if he was a cabinet or something, or maybe even Victor the creepy robot’s shack in Goodsprings since I don’t think things would get stolen from there.
Isn’t it one of those reload every shot weapons? I’m not sure how DPS is calculated for those, but it always seems off to me. It makes it more of a long range outside of VATS mode weapon, whereas for Unarmed you can run into a swarm of Cazadores or any other non-Deathclaw enemy in close range and take out a few in VATS alone and then swing for the rest.
I was planning on using long range for Deathclaws only, and short range just attacking with Unarmed. Also I think Pushy is a bit better than Ballistic, despite the lower damage stats listed for it. Keep in mind also that Unarmed perks include lower AP costs, special moves, DT ignoring perks, a DAM modifier based on strength (I believe 5x at 10 STR, which would increase it by quite a bit) and a speed perk (Slayer). If you spot someone really far away and get the drop on them, which is what I’m hoping to do on Deathclaws, one of the sniping type long range non-Vats weapons should hopefully be good enough to do the trick.
The problem is that’s pretty much it in terms of good weapons, and in only those situations. In a close up firefight, which is how I’m usually playing, I haven’t found anything to be really useful for Guns or Energy at all. Also even explosives, as I always wind up hurting myself more than the enemies.
I just got to Novac and got a room, thanks for the tip. Didn’t even think of that before.
Without even realizing it, I separated all my items. Food in the fridge, caps and other important items in the safe, etc.
I had two other places where I stashed goods, the gas station in Goodsprings and the Hidden Supply Cave northeast of Nipton. I moved everything into the room in Novac though, doing just what you did Negrotron. I just keep every item that has no weight with me though and stash unused guns and other items that weigh a pound or more.
Boone’s Beret + Bladed Gauntlet = Everything Dies with an Uppercut
Is it bad that I have more trouble with Golden Geckos than I do anything else?
EDIT: Vault 34 is a little bit messed up man, everything is tough as nails for a level 13. Got radiation poisoning, low health, every limb is on it’s last little bit of health etc.
This is fun
The voice acting in this game is dope as hell so I looked up some of the voice actors and found out that fucking Matthew Perry voices the man in the checkered suit.
Chandler Bing FTW…dig?
You need to post up all the voice actors, I remember there were a lot and a lot of big names, but I don’t know who to match with anywhere anymore. I just remember Quaigon Jin was the Father in FO3 lol (Liam Neeson).
I thought Chief Hamlin’s voice actor absolutely stole the entire game. What a great voice actor. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but stumbling onto Camp Golf and then listening to this guy’s war stories was my favorite part of the game. I wish this game wasn’t so buggy, and I don’t care at all for the combat in it either, I just like the voice acting, the factions and the freedom and exploration in it.
Wayne Newton is Mr. New Vegas on the radio
Fallout: New Vegas voice actors - The Vault, the Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more
We got Wesley Crusher, Worf, Ron Perlman, Chandler Bing, Codex, Chuck, Kris Kristoffersen, Machete, that dude from HTTM…
Jason Marsden as Boone tripped me out. That nigga went from Max Goof to bad ass Sniper.
agreed, agreed. the scene where he confessed to the men was pretty powerful, i liked it. favorite VA of the game for sure.
Note to self: When trying to sneak up on someone, make sure the radio isn’t on.
I’m on my third playthrough.
- Sneaky Sniper, Boone + ED-E and later Rex made this too easy, went the independant Vegas route.
- Unarmed Brawler/High Charisma, Veronica + Rex on hardcore and was affiliated with the Legion - this became pretty difficult at times as I really wanted to keep my companions alive. After painstakingly keeping them alive to near the end, Veronica left me when I blew up the bunker even after she left the Brotherhood. Pissed, I never even finished this playthrough.
- Energy Weapons guy with Raul and random robot companion. I think I’m going to side with House on this one, but I’m not sure yet. I have to say, Raul definitely has the best lines so far-
“Sure thing boss, this old man will roll around in the dirt for you.”
“This crouch-walking is hell on my back, Boss.”
“Don’t worry boss, with my cataracts, you only sort of look like the bad guys.”
“Hey boss! I may be ugly, But I am on your side.”
“I wouldn’t mind this so much, if it weren’t for the maniacal gleam in your eye.”
“I’m an open book, boss. Granted, the book’s in Spanish and some of the pages have fallen out, but I’m an open book.”
Im so used to listening to the in-game radio that I forget how great the score is. Sometimes that shit is legit creepy especially when shit is just rolling up on you.
Also, I must say the Fallout Wiki is much more helpful than the strategy guide. If I would have paid for my limited edition guide, I’d be pissed haha.
I started going through these voice actors. It’s funny how the guy who voices Caesar looks like him in the game. The Doc Mitchell VA looks like Doc Mitchell too!
I think Kris Kristofferson is who I’m talking about. It’s Chief Hanlon on the wiki, I’m pretty sure that’s him.
Felicia Day(The Guild), does Veronica. But I hear that Veronica looks nothing like her though, because there’s already been mods made that makes the character look like her
You can always get energy ammo from the van graff’s in freeside since they specialise in energy weapons, or waste the place and loot the ammo.
Also, someone managed to find a cool exploit to make your character as godlike as on F3 using the respec option when you try to leave the goodsprings area (also works on 360): The Exploit within the Exploit (Pre Patch) - Fallout: New Vegas Message Board for PlayStation 3 - GameFAQs
I have yet to test this out, but here is the summary version:
At the start of the game, agree to kill Ringo for Joe Cobb. Go and kill Ringo. Go back to Joe Cobb. Tell Cobb to shake down the store owners in Goodsprings. Then kill Cobb and those other guys, so that you fail the quest.
Now go to either Chet or Doc Mitch and shake them down. The speech option won’t disappear. Doc Mitch is probably a better bet as you get medical supplies too, and they don’t weigh anything. Level your character up (I suggest taking 3 levels of Swift Learner, conceptually).
Now when you go to leave and get to re-make your character, choose to do so. All your perks will remain, but your level will apparently be reset to 2, so you can regain everything while keeping your old perks.[Edit–apparently not all perks remain, and it might be random, we will probably have to further test this unless it’s in that gamefaqs thread]
The skills you need are 25 in either Barter, Speech or Medicine. I’d say go Medicine, and probably tag some combat thing. Set your SPECIAL such that you can get every perk you want, or rather, every perk you otherwise wouldn’t even get either. Off the top of my head, that’ll probably be a SPECIAL of 7.6.6.6.4.7.6 to get all the perks. I haven’t checked but I believe you can get close to that, or even get that if you take that AGI trait Small Frame or something. But you won’t have to get all of the perks anyway on one run through, so this is somewhat moot.
I will try this probably after I get back from work. Yes I started playing this again I believe yesterday.
I am now using This Machine, it’s a pretty good weapon that can get you about 6 shots in VATS. I believe it has the highest damage per AP in the game right now. You’re still better off just shooting outside of VATS usually, I will be using the Gobi outside of VATS then switching to This Machine closer on depending on the enemy (i.e., probably Deathclaws). I don’t have the Gobi yet however.
Double Edit–To save SRK time since I read most of this thread. Looks like most past level 4 do stay. So it’s probably a good idea to take Swift Learner the first couple of times. You will level up after recreating your character. I’d say get them to about 20 or so then play the game normally. I’ve already finished this game with everything except Legion quest, on Very Hard and Hardcore with pretty much everything tried out. I got annoyed with all the crashes so have kept it on Normal and no Hardcore mode, but with this I will probably keep a save around here and ramp it back up, since even if it does crash again I would have a decent character again.
Powder Gangers will not like you, but I hate them anyway so that makes no difference.
