Yes, that’s true, but if you talk to everyone in the Mojave and NV, including NCR citizens and troops, there are more than enough signs that there are problems. Also make sure to check Freeside, the Thorn and do the Remnant quests. I am convinced that Caesar is the exact person that the Fallout world needs. At some point they can move on from him, but as Caesar says, the bombs essentially set Civilization back to zero. Rome was one of the greatest advances in civilization, and it’s what he based the Legion off of. If you took Rome out of the history of the world, who knows where we’d be.
So after reading Absolute Steve’s guide a little, I (think) I have a better way to allocating my SPECIAL stats and I came up with this.

There is an STR requirement for most weapons, also it affects Unarmed damage.
I am about finished with this game. All the bugs, freezes, and gimped combat just kill the replay value for me. I’m pretty sure Unarmed is the best now outside of situations where you can snipe at a distance. Explosives don’t really work as well as I had hoped, especially since you need to reload for so long and usually between each shot.
I only have the Legion quests left, but I’m lost in Vault 34. Vault 34 is really lame because iirc you need to find a tiny keycard somewhere in there to advance forward, but the entire time you are being bombarded with radiation. I know I’ve completed it at least once before, I believe you get the Pulse gun at the end. That’s par for the course with this game though, lots and lots of, at least to me, annoying things that aren’t difficult but just aren’t fun. If it’s fun for you don’t let me dissuade you from playing it, it’s just my opinion on this.
I have to go check how to get through this now. Actually for all I know maybe it bugged up and that’s why I can’t get through, that wouldn’t surprise me as that is common as well. I’m waiting for my char to die of radiation now as I type this, I’m sick of looking for the stupid keycard. You need the keycard because they won’t let you pick the lock.
What’s worse is the NCR Rangers are after me. The first time, I told them we should finish it right there, but they threatened me with death while fleeing.
The second time I didn’t wait and just killed them all. This was pretty tough because the computer gets to cripple headshot you all the time now and do lots of damage, while your ranged weapons generally don’t do much. I lost most of my food in this fight. Wasteland Omelettes ftw. With explosives, I cripple myself even if I attack them all the way across the room. If I get much further of course I can’t really hit them because it’s so far. But somehow I get crippled and they are barely damaged with 100 Explosives skill. Brilliant game design.
Oh look the game just froze again before I could finish my post. This has been happening frequently lately.
Anyway now when I exit, while riddled with radiation, they will attack me for the third time. Somehow they resurrected themselves. That is stupid. I gave them the slip before by jumping off of a cliff, but somehow they have GSP and can follow me deep inside, while being immune to radiation of course themselves.
I wanted to like this game, I really did. But once I clear these last couple of achievements and get the Legion ending I might destroy the disk. It’s still playable on PC because people have fixed a lot of the problems with mods, but if you are thinking of getting this on Xbox or even worse PS3 (they’re even worse on bugs for PS3 for some reason), do yourself a favor and don’t. Go get Fable 3 instead.
i am currently playing fable 3 and even with all the bugs i prefer new vegas. fable 3 is so simple and easy. every fight is a cake walk, the gnomes are way easier to find than the old gargoyles, and fuck getting exp for talking to god damn npcs. if i have to see my character dance around with another male npc and kiss his hand at the end, or play patty cake again (linking exp to npc interaction sucks (why do i make less exp for killing a group of mercs than talking to one single npc!!!)(and relationship quests…forget about it))…jesus. no minimap whatsoever, constantly lost, gold trail fucks up all the time(that’s not where my destination is), repairing houses one by one is a pain…the humor is what is keeping me in, and i feel the combat is the worst out of all the fables. vortex+force push and then shoot every body laying down = dead everything. even the weapon upgrade system is a pain imo. i have to kill 300 hollowmen with this gun? finish 30 quests? kill 5 spouses? kick 100 chickens? wtf? they really dumbed this game down a lot imo. i like fallout 3 more than new vegas though.
I haven’t played Fable 3 yet, but that or Force Unleashed II was next on my list. Eventually I have to finish Castlevania LOS as well.
I want to like NV but these bugs are just too much for me. This thing obviously was not play tested and is not a complete game. I don’t care how good the next game is, if Obsidian makes a game I will never buy it.
Played the game for 10 minutes, tried to play caravan with the dude in the gas station, it wouldnt let me place cards, tried a couple times and the game crashed

Well I’m done. I was only about 15 minutes away from clearing achievements, just had the assassinate Kimball one and the final for Legion. I rigged something to explode but apparently walked too far before Kimball died. On my reloads, all my saves were corrupted (missing DLC data lol) and it won’t let me reload. This happened once before but I only lost an hour due to having a backup save. Apparently I need what, 10 backup saves to be safe? Give me a fucking break.
Unplayable, absolutely fucking unplayable. It is a crime that this game was sold in this state, for $60 no less. How do you release something like this? How did MS let this get through?
I was scratching my head how you could be having so many issues until I realized you were on console, because I’ve had very very few issues with the game on PC. All the freezes/crashes I can count on one hand, and only a few bugs were so bad that I had to revert to an earlier save to complete a quest

I use a laptop and I don’t know how advanced it is, but I just got the game for PC. I will be installing it in a bit, playing Force Unleashed II right now. Rather…watching my brother play…I don’t actually want to play the game, just watch it.
I got it setup. I’m on low graphics settings but it seems to be running okay enough, so I guess I can’t complain too much. I dunno if I should buy a new computer, but I might consider that depending…

Yeah money, and mostly what I think I’ll be doing in the future. Since I have plans to travel around and don’t really stick to one place that long a laptop is probably a better bet just because it’s easier to transport. But laptops generally aren’t too good at gaming, and I don’t know if I really want to shell out for a PC just to game with it since I don’t know if it’s really worth it. I prefer Xbox just because it’s so cheap for what you get out of it. An equivalent PC would cost me what, $3k or so? I mean I have the money, but I prefer to stick it into investments for the most part. It’s hard for me to justify that much just to play a few games.
But I’ll see if I really enjoy a few of these games, I have NV, Civ 5 and SC II to mess around with, if I really, really feel like these 3 are worth it and I’ll be on the PC a lot to game I guess I’d just get a minitower and just keep the vidcard updated.
I’m guessing a PC equivalent would probably just cost you like $5-700, probably a lot less than that if you built it yourself.
If you go this route, you’ll realize that most games that come out on both 360 and PC, are best on PC due to community support alone. New Vegas eye opener for you this time, mine was Left 4 Dead 1. Add to this, Steam and the deals on steam, you pretty much end up spending less gaming on PC. And with support, some game’s mileage goes very far. The cost of game’s are generally less, and steam deals make games cost less than meals.
I should end by saying this is pretty much my opinion on the matter though. Before I got my new PC, I was using laptops for a while that were incapable. I had Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, and Mirror’s Edge, on my 360. When I got my PC I got that Valve pack that had Left 4 Dead on it, and then I would sometimes get on my 360 to play with some buddies that still rolled with L4D on the box, but then I ended up selling all 3 games and getting them on my computer.
A PC equivalent of a 360 would cost like $350 nowadays. A high end gaming desktop can be made with $1k easy. If you want to just play recent games you dont have to spend more than $600.
Yeah $600 could get you a decent setup, my coworker spent like 700 and got a really nice gaming rig
3k would be like… top of the line everything plus Alienware tax
