Exactly, with my first character I leveled lockpicking and speech, those two alone gave me so many options. My second character I’m leveling Barter and Science. FO3 you just needed lock picking, the other skills didn’t give near as many bonuses as FO:NV.
You can definitely take on Deathclaws with Unarmed. As I said, I took on plenty of them.
The main thing is you need to try and keep them in front of you and get your blocks up. You can also parry and counterpunch off of blocks and that helps, similar to real life it seemingly stuns them and you get a couple of free shots that can put them away. I also have Slayer perk.
Unarmed against Deathclaws was hella fun for me. I had to carefully block, use stims(food works too, just do it early), and attack when I had openings. I essentially could only attack when they couldn’t hit me during my attacks. Serious fun.
But yeah, not the best thing for your mortality. Those Deathclaws can all one shot you on Very Hard even with my ridiculous armor…even though virtually nothing else can scratch me (exception is the Mark IV Turrets, which can wipe out 5 Brotherhood soldiers by themselves as well—hint to other guy, hack terminal and set brotherhood as the target!). Deathclaws should be badass, but I guess they die easy to range and sniping. If I could turn around I’d use my Gauss Rifle and try that. But I might jsut give up on the game instead.
What I used to do in Fallout 3 was cripple deathclaw legs with the dartgun in that one, and unarmed used Paralyzing Palm and then the shishkebab. I guess in this game, if you got a cleaver and the guts, you could hack at the legs real quick then kite. I haven’t fought any deathclaws yet in New Vegas.
Head east from goodsprings, then north at the quarry; then you’ll have all you can handle : O
Is there a good mod to strip away some of these obnoxious invisible walls? Really hampers exploration =/ And I hated that I had to go around the entire map to get around Primm Pass because I wasn’t beefy enough to take on the deathclaws there at the time.
The slaves are spreading rumors about the “Burned Man” again…
real talk i’m going to be disappointed if there’s no burned man in this game. i was looking forward to finding him
Well, I got this game the day it came out, and I like it, but I keep getting the feeling it doesn’t like me that much.
I swear the game became LESS stable with that patch. I, noticed less choppiness and slowdown, but now whenever I die the game crashes and I have to reset the system. This+trying to get into Nellis AFB=lots of wasted time.
You guys explore dead wind cavern yet?
Are there any “essential” mods for pc already?
So far all I did was the frame rate fix and its been awesome on high settings.
My companion Lily just dissapeared last night, she hasnt come back, she isnt at her spawn point, yet I still have her perk…hopefully I will get the message she has left my side and returned to Jacobstown. I really hope I didnt lose all the stuff I let her carry, I use her as a pack mule lol, she has my fatman!!
And Rex, the cybernetic dog, he just runs and runs whenever there is an enemy, I have tried every single option on the character wheel, and he just runs away or in circles at times from enemies, I have noticed a lot of people have complained about this all over the internet, and many people say it is a bug, which sucks. Damn these Fallout games and their massive lists of bugs!!
Some times when I think my companion has disappeared, they are really just sitting at the lucky 38 and forgot to make them follow me (i’ve done this about 8 times). But when they do actually disappear I notice if I quick travel or load new areas enough they will suddenly return.
As for rex running off, a lot of companions do that and it’s obnoxious if you are trying to be stealthy. I wish passive made them not attack anything until you’ve been attacked or at least noticed. Nothing like trying to line up a headshot when all of the sudden ED-E starts blasting music and charges in for no reason.
Stabby, is that the cave with all the Deathclaws?
Yup they auto stop following you at the lucky 38 if you go to visit houses floor, thats always the first place I check if they’re not with me anymore.
On the exterior at least. They swarm me when I quick travel in.
I have no clue how I discovered it in the first place.
I managed to get through it. You should probably be at least in the 20s if you attempt it. There’s some good loot in there if I recall correctly.
I was taking my sweet time going to Vegas. Just did quests as they came. That fucking Cowboy Robot gives me the creeps.
Though, the game now freezes every time I get near Vegas. It is maddening! Come on, and give out the new patch. I want to play!
With new games yet to play (2 sitting on my coffee table unopened) and Black Ops in a couple weeks I’m killing everyone/auto failing quests trying to finish the game. So fun… no pressure to finish or find everything.
I finished the story today.
Took 14 hours or so total time. Now it’s time for a playthrough with a different character and some different quests and all that.
I’ve observed that followers sometimes just get “stuck” when you zone. It’s a good idea to keep looking around every time you fast travel to make sure your companion is with you, otherwise finding them later will be a real pain.
I visited the casino in Vegas and had my weapons confiscated. When I left, I didn’t get the majority of them back. Anyone else have this issue?

how can i get the NCR and the Brotherhood to ally each other?
Edit: Nevermind, just go it
