Fallout 4: FINALLY REVEALED! OFFICIAL TRAILER JUST WENT LIVE (IT'S BOSTON, BABY!)

The two negatives I have so far is those annoying “somebody has been kidnapped” or “raiders/ghouls/super mutants are fucking with us” missions that settlers give you, as well as the constant attacks on your settlements. Brings me back to the annoying bit in GTA IV when friends always wanted you to do stuff at the wrong time.

I accidentally failed to protect a settlement. 8 settlers got reduced to 1 after the attack. They literally can’t do shit without your help, it’s pathetic.

And sometimes the warning for a settlement attack doesn’t even show. I have to go to Quests and look under Misc constantly just to be sure.

Pretty sure those are “Radiant” quests and will never end, just bump their defense really high and never talk to Preston.

Yeah, I do wish there was more fine control with regards to your ability to be hands-off with settlements, or at least have the option to decline taking personal responsibility for any given one of them in the first place.

On another note, anybody else here completely avoid getting molerat disease? Turns out to have any chance of it you have to go at it without any companions because for some dumb reason YOU can catch the disease when your companions get bit. Probably just a programming oversight, but frustrating as hell if you are trying to be meticulous about not catching it.

There is, you cannot get hit at all. Power armor might make you immune as well.
Just be careful since your companions and the protectron can become infected as well.

There’s also a bug to cure it

[details=Spoiler]When curing Austin, while the doctor is talking but before the item leaves your inventory after you agree to give it to the kid, face away from them and pip boy, use the cure.
If you do it right it’ll cure you and the kid.[/details]

I did eventually manage to get through without catching it, but that involved reloading a huge number of times before I realized Dogmeat was the one getting infected.

Yeah you can just say “no it’s mine” when the doctor asks, back away a little and turnaround so that you aren’t locked into the convo, take the cure, then go back to the convo and give it to him.

It’s what I did.

So the thing that kind of bugged me about the weapon/armor system that kind of bugged me but I couldn’t quite figure out why is more clear.
By having relatively few types of guns, and many small variations, it takes away the sense of discovery. I don’t have any hope of scavenging a really powerful gun…I feel like I have reached the end of the tech tree. Unless there is another tier of weapon(s) that just doesn’t show up until you are say…level 50+, I feel like I’ve seen everything. I feel like I saw everything a WHILE ago. Even the “unique” weapons are pretty much just regular weapons with mods. The exceptions being things like the Broadsider and Cryolator…who unfortunately are too heavy and the ammo is too scarce for me to really use.
The problem with Diablo-esque loot is how worthless everything becomes outside of a very narrow “band” of equipment. I don’t even look at combat shotguns, fatmans or assault rifles. My inventory space is better served picking up coffee pots, desk fans and alarm clocks.
Also, why is there no .50 caliber sniper rifle outside of the hunting rifle conversion? Like, an entire category of ammo that doesn’t have its own dedicated gun?
I suspect this will be addressed when the DLC starts to come out…but still.

There is a molerat disease?

Only as part of the vault 81 questline.

It is a quest related thing, and you’ll know about it before there’s a danger of catching it. Normal molerats in the wild don’t carry it.

I kind of get why the weapon variety is what it is. Regardless of the variations they might throw in it get’s figured out pretty quickly exactly what for each type of weapon is the most optimal, and at that point any work they put in on the alternatives is pretty wasted. Like, why put in 3 different 10mm makes of gun when only one of them would get used, etc.

When you don’t have Gun Nut or Science it is still worth checking out normal weapon drops. And the real loot game is mostly in legendaries anyway.

I did the quest 81 quest and didnt catch it. Hell I got bit to shit as well I did that quest with no ammo and had to punch em to death. I was wondering why the doc made a thing about only 1 cure left huh.

Found a partial Enclave power armour suit, which is awesome cause the lamp is actually its eyes haha gonna have fun with this, missing a left arm and left leg but Ill use some T-60 equipment in the meantime as its visually quite a close match.

Got the suit in the caves beneath Goodneighbour.

There’sa full set of power armor here. I went there at 30 and got a full enclave suit. There’s this weird glitch tho where it looks like t-60 before you jump in but then it changes to enclave. Still says one of my legs is t-60 even tho i’m pretty sure it’s enclave.

You don’t have to talk to Preston to initiate. Sometimes random settler will come up to you and ask you for help. It doesn’t matter what you do, only way to avoid is by not having settlements at all.

It is a good way to farm xp though and get reputation with Preston and they are easy so I do not mind.

Man, I did so much that Preston wants my d. The option to flirt popped up. Smh.

I already have Codsworth, Piper and Cait maxed out so just trying to get as many perks from companions as possible.

I know what I’m gonna be looking for today.

Yeah, Railway Rifle was one of my favorite guilty pleasure weapons in FO3.

Killed a Legendary Deathclaw Alpha last night- burned a ton of ammo on it but had a huge positional advantage at the time so I pretty much had to. Got Staggering brass knuckles off the corpse, which sounds like an awesome weapon for a hand-to-hand build.
