Update
We came to the tough decision to postpone the tournament. We decided that we don’t want to interfere with Quantum X event and that if we take more time we can guarantee more. We are pushing the date of “Fall Brawl” to November 7. We are promising a phenomenal event and with perfection there is time. Due to the economy, GameStop has retracted there sponsorship but we will still add more to the pots of the major events. I am not sure what we will have but we are promising it will be worth the wait. This will also give us a chance to host the first big Tekken 6 tournament in South Carolina. Also, this is not a tournament for us, it is for SC. Any game that anyone want to put on the schedule is fine by us. We will do our best to have anything and everything. Trust me, you want to be here. Thanks to Avatar2. Awardtour, JamsLegs, and everyone else for their help.

Since you have time, I recommend adding all games that are tourney-worthy and, depending on participation, simply drop those who don’t get enough players.
I think we should add Soul Calibur 4, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, ect.
Also, since we’re adding Shaq Fu, how about some old school stuff like Project Justice or (please, please!!! Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers!) Both would be super-fun additions that would be unique, just like adding Shaq Fu for kicks. Make them bargain tourneys just to add value to coming to the tourney could be a good idea.
November 7th is a good month and a half from now so I hope I can make it, but I do have a few questions since I have never been to a tournament before.

How long is this going to be? It starts at 12pm so is everyone going to play and there will be a winner for each game in the same day?

What system is shaq fu going to be played on and do we have to bring our own controller for that?

Dude!? WTF?! Major Dissapointment… I went through some trouble getting the 26th of September off from work to make this, and now its delayed?! I mean, I understand if you want to delay the date to plan out better, but to wait unitl one week before the event?! blegh! Bad Taste in my mouth…
I understand and am very sorry. I too had to go through alot to get that day off, and now I have to go through the same thing again for the 7th. One of the biggest reasons we decided to postpone is because we lost GameStop as sponsors. Turns out the saving money was the major topic of the Conference held in Los Vegas last week. I think the added bonus to the prizes were a major draw for most people and it would be in worst taste to disappoint people after they arrived to the tournament. Besides, Nov 7 promises a bigger draw. More money on the pot is always a plus. Again i understand you disappointment but forgive us for this.

All tournaments will be ended on the same day. In my experience tournaments can be held in a fast manner as long as the tournaments start on time and people are required to be at the match when its there turn next. We will display all brackets for everyone to see and plan a smooth quick transaction.
As for shaq, I think it would be better to allow people to chose the throwback games then to push one on them. (But I will have Shaq Fu there even if it does not win) Not sure the format but expect emulator we will provide controllers for these. I plan to build at least one arcade stick to be used in the throwbacks. If I can get the funds I will build more.

Just so you know, i doubt many of us were coming for any Gamestop credit. All that matters really is turnout and we had faith in the turnout. Turnout means new players to play against and larger pots, but for me its about playing others. For instance, I always look forward to playing out-of-staters like Dru up there because it doesn’t happen often. It will still be awesome in November. No doubt. Just no more delays or changes. If the date changes one more time the tourney loses cred.
postponing the tourney one week prior is pretty awful. Many of us out of towners (myself especially) cancelled prior engagements, got days off from work, or said no to friends or family who wanted to do something on that weekend. Cancelling it one week prior does not give much time to reschedule things. I’m pretty disappointed.
Also, for those who got days off of work, they may not be able to get back to work b/c the schedule has been filled which means that they would not be able to get off from work again to go to the next tournament. Most of us never cared about gamestop or their credits as avatar mentioned previously. It’s all about the comp and the turnout. This weekend was good timing for a lot of us in Augusta but hopefully we will have free time in November to play T6.
I hope there is more time considered when canceling an event. A poll should have been done or someone should have asked before canceling imo. oh well.
