F.A.N.G. General Thread: Nothing up the Sleeve

Edit: nm.

And you dont think that this would be the most broken shit in this game if it did?

It’s guaranteed damage if they block or hit you or not.

They can’t have that kill,

It’s a shame in a way. Seeing Gief or Birdie frantically running away from Fang would be hilarious.

I just wish the poison damage would be increased during VT, because right now it really looks like a weak option compared to blowing all your V bar on VR.

The fact that FANG has j.MK as an instant overhead/fuzzy option helps mitigate poison not killing. That’s pretty strong.

The V-Trigger is ok, I can see it as a pressure/combo V-Trigger primarily (similar to Karin). It lasts a pretty long time, can really help the reward for offensive momentum.

In addition, being able to use the V-Trigger to eat reversal inputs is nice, especially for the above situation!

Considering that poison doesn’t allow the opponent to recover white life, has anyone tested the best ways to take down white life safely?

His c.MK is +2 which is nice. Thought s.HK might be nice too since its +1 but he doesn’t have a 3d move so might not be that effective against chars that do, since you’ll just trade.

Hide behind poison trap and abuse down-forward HP or sweep, maybe?

Can someone test his CH links?

if you anti air someone with either the 2 hit poison cloud or his fireball, can you dash up or command dash and get extra juggles like cr.hp afterwards? if you can get cr.hp that would be pretty sick because then you could cancel the cr.hp into another command dash and get the fuck out of there.

if this doesn’t work, can you check if it works if only one hit of the cloud/fireball connects?

2MK CH links into 6F or less moves (meaning 2MP)

So some folks are starting to notice that FANG causes very high amounts of stun.

Can any of ye urleyboys test to see if poison state makes the opponent take more stun damage?

I’ve not had very much time with him but I thought I would take him online and play a few games. Unfortunately for me, my first match with him was Alioune…

Anyway, I seem to mess up my down charge with him more than any other SF game I’ve ever played (I’ve played charge characters for most of the series).

I can confirm he does do a good amount of stun, but you won’t see it in this match because I just get my arse handed to me

People are saying that FANG’s stun if bugged, he is doing counter hit values on all his moves.

Can someone test?

is meaty coward crouch > kick after cr.hk crush counter as good as i imagine it might be?

it’s stricter than sf4.

Checked it out, seems fine

EX Poison Bomb… Oh my goodness.

I’ve been watching a lot of Fang footage lately, and he seems real interesting.

However, I do have one major gripe about him, and that his v-trigger seems really shitty. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, since I didn’t play him yet; I’m interested if anyone has/can tested how much damage his v-trigger does if the dull duration is active on the opponent. I’d wager based on the footage, even this best case scenario is very little. If you factor in that it doesn’t stack with your poison, keeping them poison is relatively easy, and you’re aren’t in their vicinity a lot, it seems abysmal on what it adds to Fangs game. (Best use being a combo extender)

I think Fang’s v-trigger would be much more interesting if it had an added effect on the opponent, provided they’re already poisoned. For example, the player, and their life bar would turn a deeper purple (or whatever color works well), and take triple the damage of regular poison in the same duration. This would encourage Fang’s opponent to play differently, either by wanting to desperately land a hit to remove regular poison, or back off the v-triggers range that stacks.

Of course the number is just an example, and can be balanced accordingly. As his v-trigger stands right now, it offers nothing to the table, and is best ignored.

I’d say it looks like poison damage is in the ball park of 200 dmg for the aproximately 20 seconds VT lasts, with the poison effect potentially lasting about 10 more seconds after VT runs out. Doesn’t look that great compared with the utility of VR for a defensive zoner, unless extending your combo is going to kill.
