What do you guys think of the Gouken match up? I don’t really have much experience with this, any tips will be great!
I don’t have much experience with Decapre yet, but some things I noticed against Gouken are that (hp) stinger seems to beat even his ex flipkick clean and to look for patterns in his fireball game, most online Goukens seem to really like doing the slide after throwing a fireball, especially once chip matters, that’s a free U2 every time (don’t get baited into his U2, though). IIRC it’s free to nj.hp on his wakeup, it tends to trade with/avoid his EX hurricane kick (will need to test this further). As always against Gouken, if he likes parrying, empty-jump-low and empty-jump-throw will make him stop that real quick, don’t get thrown when he has ult, and kick him when he’s down.
Re: MU-discussion, I’m surprised Bison and Chun aren’t generally considered 7-3s to Decapre’s disadvantage, on paper they certainly should be imo. But then Chun is 10-0 against me no matter the char, so it’s probably moot.
Bison does win 7-3, Chun i feel you just have to play slow.
chun is 5-5 with work. by that i mean you have to play patient. focusing her pokes helps.
bison is pretty bad depending on the player but it’s a 6-4 to bison though imo.
I’m far from a pro, but the chun match feels like 5-5 to me. She has better normals, but you have better damage and mixups and setups.
You can airthrow so much of her stuff…
Chun is not a bad matchup I’d say 5-5. You can fight her on the ground pretty easily because you have enough tools to deal with fireballs. Chun can keep decapre out of the air pretty well due to her floaty jump and the angles of her buttons.

Just do this all day
[/quote]yeah, wasnt aware of that bs at the time of posting. certainly turns that matchup around
I wouldn’t say it turns it around considering it seems to rely on landing the TC in order to set it up. Definitely helps
uh, what? The whole thing about Chun’s anti-airs is that they’re good but meant for specific ranges/approaches. Decapre can alter that (and screw up her anti airs) by when she pulls the trigger on a divekick. Chun can’t low profile anti air those with cr mp or sweep either. The twins and Rufus have always been bad matchups for chun because she can’t keep them out and Decapre can level a similar advantage.
Scramble is a different scenario than a jump in. To be honest most characters will have a hard time AAing an ex scramble dive kick. Was speaking about jump ins specifically.
think i’m switching to u1 on ryu/sagat as it allows you to play much more proactively. Instead of getting u2 then daring them to throw a fireball while you have charge focus absorbing fireballs gives them a real threat to deal with and there is no ifs or anything, u1 is coming maybe twice and they are going to have to block.
old but you can start the unblockable off of ex stomp and possibly u1 too, it’s not just target combo.
I don’t think I’ve played any high enough level ryus long enough but I still prefer U2 over U1 for the matchup (though your points are valid for U1 as I think either would be useful for this matchup). My main reason for U2 is because it conditions a lot more ryu players from making bad jumpins, fireballs or even just jumping in the corner, and the fact that he can’t escape meaty ground pound setups without meter (maybe not to my knowledge or experience so far) which means more confirms to U2.
I’m with you for Sagat though. U1 shuts down more of sagat’s game plan and I see more opportunities for U1 setups than U2 for this matchup.
I still cant figure out the Abel matchup both fundamentally and choice of ultra. I think i saw EH tierlist from an top abel player (801 strider i think) and he said that it’s a 5-5. I disagree unless I’m doing something wrong that I should be doing.
vs. abel u2 is much better cause roll/ex wheel kick go through u1 which limits your mixup options. Decapre gets extended combos on him, and he doesn’t do well vs. spiral/ex divekick and is vulnerable to crossup j.hp.
You might just be bad vs. Abel in general, he takes a different mindset than most of the cast.
I have found it very hard to land u2 vs sagat. I end up hitting whiffed normals by chance more than fireballs. To add on, sagat tends to back himself into the corner. Mixup is obviously way better in the corner but also opens up ex dagger combo to u1. Plus his jump is shit. Seems like a great idea.
As far as u2 as anti fireball I’d still bring it vs sim gouken and rose
i don’t like u1 vs. seth either cause of walljump+teleport+ex legs it’s just too many variables and limits you in both neutral and in mixup situationsR
right now my split is
u1 - Ryu, Guile, Ken(use W sometimes, depends on playstyle), Gief, Makoto, Sagat, Balrog, Fei, Deejay, Hawk(anything u2 punishes slide/dp does too), Gen, Cody, Adon, Dan, Guy, Oni, Elena
u2 - Evil Ryu, Blanka, Honda, Dhalsim, Abel, Dudley, Bison, Vega, Seth, Gouken, Akuma, Rolento, Poison
W -Yun, Juri, Rufus, Fuerte, Decapre, Cammy, Yang
Undecided -
Chun lots of variables u2 punishes not just fireballs but whiffed hazanshu, neutral u1 is not that good because of her u1
Sak U1 is great vs. her, but I sort of like the one time get out of jail free provided by W
Ibuki U1 has some issues in neutral because of u2 and ex neckbreaker trades, u2 doesn’t punish much and and she can punish it if you use it for mixup avoidance super easily on most setups. W i guess?
Hugo u1 is good for getting momentum but u2 punishes cr.mk on block which is a problem poke, and it lets you whiff punish his meter building
Rose u2 is good for punishing fireballs and as an os option off of a safejump divekick, but u1 is great as a neutral u2 check, leaning to W but not sure
Viper u1 is okay here, u2 punishes seismos unless she does seismo sjc feint. I just like that u1 can give you comeback factor without getting a solid hit. U2 or W
Hakan u1 is very very hard for him to deal with especially unoiled and without ex meter with his short jump. u2 checks oil up attempts and has a very long animation this burns a lot of oil so comboing into it even with half ultra can be very helpful. u1 or W i think.
Yeah seths fireball recovery is shit I have been using u2 as well forgot about that one. I have got caught with an ex cancel back dash after his fireball though so watch out when be has 2 bars.
What are you punishing abel on, cod in between hits? Obviously blocked cod grab/throw is minus 10000
Dudley - ex mgb?
Bison - ex psycho but anything else? I guess his mobility is solid enough to negate u1 too
Vega - u1 is pretty shit vs Vega because of his good air and probably reaction rolling crystal
Rolento I think rolls? I’m still shit at that match some dude raped me the other day I think the name was royal mist
Dudley I just combo into it. He’s the easiest character to combo into u2 on. Neutral u1 can get blown up by his u1
Bison u1 he can negate easily with his invincible options so it sucks to mixup. u2 punishes ex psycho+devils reverse crap
Vega u1 is crap vs. him on wakeup midscreencause of backflip and EX ST, so might as well have something. He can ultra u1 on reaction too.
Rolento he can get out of u1 stuff and u2 punishes rolls.
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but what are her best punishes against Rose, especially those that are abusing her HK Spira?.
From experience, both in actual matches and testing, Stinger only works if they space it wrong or they press buttons afterwards. The ones that want to mash our cr.mp into spiral after a blocked spiral can also be beat with a scramble into Cannon Strike. If they just mash out HK or EX Spiral again after a blocked HK Spiral, then fuck. Only somewhat reliable things I’ve found to work is throwing, but only if the spacing is right.
