Execute! The Decapre Matchup thread

Working on the OP update, won’t be done today but will be done before next week. Need to filter all the informations from all the topics.

Thank you, I know these things take time and people should be appreciative that you’re doing it - hope to see the updates soon

anybody can show me how to begin my offense with Ibuki? Her 3 frame jab buff is getting annoying and I am not quite adapted to delayed wake up. I used cr mk buffer to hands but it got stuffed by her cr mp buffer to neck breaker. After that is the hall of pain…

vs characters that like to jump in - ultra 2
vs characters with fireball - ultra 2
vs characters that don’t jump or have a fireball like balrog - ultra 1
vs grapplers - ultra 1 probably. unless you have a read on something you can punish with ultra 2.

I did the first eight chars of the cast, didn’t think that it will take me so much time to gather and filter all the informations. I will make the other characters tomorrow now that i know where i should looking for informations.

If something is wrong (or not worth it, give an explanation why though) or you think something can be improved, feedbacks are always welcome.

If you think you have enough experience in a matchup to write a post about the mindset against a specific opponent, it would be greatly appreciated!

Choice of ultra I ask myself once I see who I am facing if they have an easy ass way to get around the fireball that is safe or safeish. If they do or if I know the player likes to jump U2. If I feel that U1 mixups will actually work and they have no real way out then U1.

This usually means U2 is the one that gets the nod.

what the fuck? i did some testing in regards to how punishable lp psycho sting(version shouldn’t matter) fadc backwards is. every other recording abel could punish with reversal u1 and every other he could not. i am absolutely certain that i’m backdashing on the first possible frame and blocking on the first possible frame. can someone confirm? obviously point blank in every case

If you recorded make sure you have the dummy block for a while to account for the ultra freeze time.

now i just feel like a big dumdum. thought i was losing my mind for a moment. didn’t occur to me that i might’ve not been blocking long enough as the entire up portion of blanka u1 whiffed and was still blocking when the grounded part connected, with the same recording in which abels u1 connected.

anyway, out of the first set of characters (abel to cammy) only akuma, with either raging demon, and cammy, with super, can punish psycho sting fadc backwards. so, it’s a straight up free escape in most circumstances, even with a hard read on the backdash. sucks that akuma won’t have to take a guess on the dash, but otherwise, good news all around

Chun can punish it too

Ill save you some time…Yang can ex dp either direction too

yep yep, just trying to flesh out the first set of characters for now

some punishes:
adon
non ex rising jagga FADC backwards: DCM

akuma
every shoryu FADC backwards: DCM
sweep at any range: DCM

balrog
far hp: DCM

blanka
ex upball FADC backwards: DCM
sweep at any range: DCM

c.viper
hp tk FADC backwards: DCM
lp, mp seismo: DCM

cammy
non ex cannon spike FADC backwards: DCM

I usually use U1 with grapplers or people with slow walk speeds. Always U2 with characters who like to jump a lot (Akuma doing demon flips, vega, etc)

Also OP please note, the target combo that goes into the air throw is TC1, not TC2 as you have it listed in the posts

Nevermind, I’m dumb.

hi friends

not doing too well vs balrog

any suggestions to approaching the mu?
im normally a u2 player but i use u1 here

Just got a few games in with a good juri and it looks like her cr.mk is good at shutting stinger down, very easy to time by the looks of it. Probably null and void though as it is kind of shutting down something decapre shouldn’t be doing anyway… but its really generous in either stuffing the startup or avoiding it completely.

Not sure if it was mentioned here but I didn’t see it. Might run through the cast to see I’d anyone has something similar, Guys cr.mk I thought would avoid it to but it gets smacked.

there are a couple of low profile moves like cr.hk from DJ that stuff stingers

First of all, you need to keep your space in this match. Rog loves to jab, and his jab WILL hit you out of everything and every time you get hit its going to lead into a painful combo and leave you on the floor so do your best to stay out of its range. Go in and get your hits, then get back out. Another reason your spacing is so important is because you need time to react to his rush punches. Basically if you see one coming you can just hit him with stinger. It’ll kill his super armor on EX moves and put a total stop to his offense.

Secondly, on the subject of EX moves and super armor, Rog players use this to eat a hit and retaliate immediately and theres usually not much you can do about it, but Decapre actually has a great counter to it in the form of HANDS. USE THOSE HANDS. I really dont even use this move in other matchups even though I know I should, but anytime I play Rog im mashing hands all day and it works wonders.

Lastly, be careful with U1. His headbutt can go through it and he will knock you out of the sky if you try a scramble mixup with it.

Hope this helped, good luck!

Still learning Decapre myself but here are a few ideas speaking as a Balrog player:

-Have you tried using U2? Rog has trouble reacting effectively against well-spaced FAs unless he has charge, and stocking U2 makes your FAs that much scarier. You can also use U2 on reaction to his dash punches and TAPs if he gets careless or predictable with them.

-You’ll have trouble getting into cr. mk pressure range against Rog because of his hp and hk buttons. Use FAs to scare him into not using them. This may also get him to use TAP and his unsafe armor breaking dashes. If he starts throwing those out, be ready to stuff them on reaction with cr. mk xx hands. If he doesn’t stop poking, just make sure that he feels each combo you land after each crumple.

you really don’t need u2 to make a crumple scary, you can do crumple, u1, cr.hp, dp(plus another dp in the corner) or like cr.hp, ex RES etc. etc.
