Makoto’s normals beat you 99% of the time. Outthink the Makoto and maneuver her into a bad situation.

For the most part, Louis is correct. Makoto has the advantage here, so go with that. Hugo is scarier off of parry and without meter, IMO. Work the Hugo and go from there.

Mak’s normals are almost as bad as Chun’s for Hugo (st.mk, cr.mk, occasional cr.hp to keep him in check), and her mobility is so good for playing runaway. Hugo should never be able to jump in on Mak because she has too many good options (jump back mk, dash under -> whatever, EX Fukiage, instant EX Tsurugi, etc). Not sure how feasible this is with lag, but you can also reaction SA2 through some of the slower stuff that the Hugo player will chuck out when he’s getting desperate (st.mp, Claps, Meatsquashers, etc).
If you’re getting bored and want to be riskier then get in on him and annoy him with ticks and karakusas, but you have literally zero need to do so.

then as you’re finishing your super animation and he starts his SA1 you have a couple seconds to think about what you did. in that moment you realize you are SO DUMB and you deserve everything bad that could happen to you

I went 0-10+ to a guy called “EvilRyu78” a couple days ago. I’m not very good though but I usually managed to grab a round off most people I’ve run into so far (I’m very new to SF3) but this guy perfected me a bunch of times.

I know ranked doesn’t mean a lot but he’s #1 ranked current on the xbox 360 version (I forgot that in my original post like a derp).
I have a yellow connection to that guy and he always refuses to play me after a few easy ranked wins I got off of him. I sound like a douche putting him on blast like that but I hate it when players shy away from a challenge. It’s not like your arms are going to fall off for losing to someone not in the top 10, nub.

That said it depends where in the world he is, I get really awful connections to yellow ping players if they are in the US/Canada (I’m in the UK) but it’s spotty, equally as many are playable, so he should just play them. I back out of any red though, my net connection isn’t great as it is, red matches are usually slideshows.
I’ll play reds too but just aim to keep it a footsies game at that point because then it’s like that fight that ends with us rolling around on the floor while I have him in a headlock. It just looks stupid.

Wait for him to XCOPY, then get him while he’s crying for the timer to run out. Then do a KKZ and feel good(even without a taunt, it does like 80% damage lol).
He does the same thing to me, I came across him again today actually. I thought I’d wait and see whether he’d back out, but he just sat in the lobby refusing to ready up, for well over an hour. I only won once, I guess it must have been that humble pie I fed him immediately after.
I did notice something odd though, him going up from rank 16, to 19 in five minutes. That’s well over 2500 exp, maybe I had a time lapse, but it couldn’t have been any longer than 10 minutes.
