Players on XBL that have laid a consistent beating on me, off the top of my head:
EatableTech, Papiizy, Cadis Razel, Sandybags… there’s more but that’s all I can think of right now.
Here’s some of the guys that don’t beat me down quite as bad as those folks above but always offer good competition:
Everdread, Clayman, cpt egrageous, Mintchip, Poe22222, Mutant XP, hold dat, katsudoro, Artayes… look for a while and you will see some good ones, it’s all about the player lobbies though
Your judgment is good. Sandybags is just nasty. I think I’ve played him like 10 times (most likely more). I win about 3 out every 10 (but probably on a 10+ game losing streak) He knows his matchups (or at least the Makoto one where you can abuse any of his specials and it’s always a 50/50). I think he plays a more psychological game than reactionary. Goes to lab to review replays I know exactly what he does but it’s really impossible to guarantee the outcome of coin-flips…
Evilyryu78 is probably the guy you love to hate. He taunts me w/ every round he wins. I know it gives a bonus but the way he does it seems more directly insulting. I think I’m better than him. I’ve beat him more than he has beaten me. I’ve probably pulled off more fukiages on him than any other character in the game.
I thought I’d done something to make him troll me. Guess that’s just how he rolls.

Btw, that message I sent you wasn’t meant to be insulting or whatever. Sorry if I came across as a dick. ONE THING I WILL SAY THOUGH: Akuma online is full of shit -__q. Actually, my only peeve is the lack of ability to truly punish hk & mk tatsus online.
What can I say, Gouki is my main so when I need to play hard I gotta stick with em.
Urien’s my second main/warm-up so I feel you on characters with online stigma. Just stick with it though, fuck what other people think.
What’s wrong with Urien?
The biggest problem against Urien online is it can get harder to reactively block Aegis mixups, making it a total guessing game. Against players with bad connections, his dashes become flickery, kinda like he’s “teleporting”. Again though, this is all dependent on online connections. If you know how to properly fight Urien, then this stuff shouldn’t be much of a factor.
ah okay that makes sense. yeah Urien doesn’t strike me as a character who gets a lot better online. I lose to online Uriens a fair amount but I lose to offline ones a fair amount too!
the only characters I struggle more against online than offline are Akuma and the twins. And I think with the twins it’s just a function of having a lot harder a time dealing with their dive kicks. the rest I’ve never understood complaining about.
Online footsies
Urien is top tier online and what makes him top online is why he is only mid or so offline.
As for who is good that depends on what you think is good. The few people I have enjoyed playing against were japanese even though the connection was shit.
PS playing mak against people who do not know the match-up is boring

I love playing against Urien. I know I’m in the minority but playing against Ken, Urien, and the Chun mirror are my favorite online matches.
I’m not going to lie, sometimes I get desperate and do stuff I know would be unsafe offline in order to turn the match around. (lot’s of command cross up and low mk into lk hozonshu)
I think just about every character has their added strengths and weaknesses online. Akuma/Gouki is easily the worst and I hate playing against these players because the matchup is just not fun. …even as Chun, online I can’t count the times I’ve hit confirmed something only to see the opponent blocking after I’ve activated super. I’ve given up on poking with low mk in hopes of landing super, I stick to the back fierce hit confirm and even then…
Also, I find the Yun & Yang matches not as tedious online. Gaijin (however it’s spelled) is certainly easier to deal with online. I often taunt Y+Y players by using’s Chun’s head stomp as oki the way they would with dive kicks. I find a lot of Yang players using the SRK super as well. Chun’s low lp is still awesome as an interrupt online.
None of the chuns ive faced in mirrors online are anygood. Even the 1ST rank chun on psn. They jump too much and do random bird kicks…i wish I could get at these fools on a cab

EvilRyu78 gets his ass stomped by me. Anyone who is usually taunt happy to me gets the favor returned 10 fold. I don’t mind taunting but don’t taunt me if you don’t want to get taunted multiple times during the match and after.
Don’t forget my Akuma gets a free one after a hk tatsu juggle 
Oh, and all the Akuma tatsu hate, keep it coming. I spam mk tatsu on urien all day for free offline and online. Don’t really care!

I’d love to run into more Chuns and Makotos. I see Yuns every once in a while but that’s it. People seem to have this pride about not playing top tier and I wish they didn’t.
people get really pissed when they pick top tier and still cant win because they thought to win with chun all you have to do is press hp and low mk, spam divekicks with yun…etc.
people like to pick low tier because it gives them an excuse when they lose. “you only won because i play ______.”
