EX Moves: Are you having problems performing them in 3SOE?

doings ryus step kick, i can do the normal one but when it comes to the ex it does not come out sometimes.

just tried offline in training mode. ex came out 100% for me using the macro.

Tested a couple different characters (Ken ex fireball, Makoto ex oroshi). 25 reps with manual two button input, 25 reps with 3p macro. PS3 version. No problems, no drops, no weirdness of any kind.

shrugs Anyone have a programmable controller? Removing human error as a variable would make testing this a lot more accurate.

I’ve never had a problem with EX-moves coming out playing 3rd Strike: Online Edition. The only problems I had were quick rolling on time and the timing of Gigas after tick hits, but this is because GGPO PC is faster and I’ve adjusted since then.

I use a first edition Madcats TE.

Well I guess it could just be human error…

More people are saying everything outright works than people saying the opposite… so it is what it is…

Can’t really go on what Alex Valle and Wong say considering that while they can play 3S competently, they probably haven’t touched the game in years…

I’m not sure how a macro registering as 1 punch as opposed to 3 punches is an execution error.

Anyway, it’s not that major from what I tested with the macro. After about half an hour of testing with various characters, it’s only happened twice (Ryu getting a regular FB instead of EX). I tested with Elena, Chun, Ken, and Makoto and got nothing similar to the EX FB issue.

I did do a test with Makoto’s Kara fukiage using the macro for 3P though and got similar results to what BullDancer did with Ryu’s shoryu: half the time I’d get a regular Fukiage instead of EX (I did this test with the chop as well and got the same results). I don’t think that’s a big deal though since no one really uses kara EX fukiage AFAIK. Edit: This kara ex issue is also in the ps2 version.

I make execution errors sometimes and had similar results on arcade build.

it could be dropped inputs. i’ve only noticed this happening offline for me personally. i’ve had dropped inputs every now and then even when the match isn’t that laggy. also, in general ex moves seem to be a little harder to do in 3s compared to sf4 for some reason. could be that some of us are used to the leniency of sf4 and are surprised when ex’s don’t come out in 3s.

Online or offline, I’m having a bitch of a time performing EX moves consistently. I haven’t tried the 3P/3K macro yet, so I will sometime later today.

theres no problem.

played on cab with sanwa buttons yesterday and on a TE with sanwa buttons later that night in OE. no issues. If you’re playing online that’s definitely partly a possible answer. otherwise if you’re used to like sf4 or something it feels different in 3s and you may not be used to it quite yet. my guess would be people who havent played 3s in a while or at all before arent used to how ex feels so it seems weird.

give it a month and i doubt people will be having nearly as many issues.

when you do an ex move try keeping your fingers pressing for slightly more time than you normally do and see if that helps.

We actually need to do the correct inputs in 3S. o.O
No EX problems for me, but I didn’t started playing FGs with SFIV. But I can see how too much IV can ruin motions for people.

Solution, stop using the f’cking 3x buttons.

who knows how 3s read the 3 button macros? the game isnt designed for that so maybe it gets wonky depending on inputs in a row in a certain span of time. it might be dropping one of them because its uh…‘cache’ of inputs is full. or something like that.

because thats 3 buttons at once not like drumming or something where there is a gap, so who knows. may just be a weird quality that was never apparent.

I very much doubt there are any issues with the 3P/3K shortcuts, they’ve been there and like that since the Dreamcast version and I for one have never heard anyone say they sometimes miss EX moves with them.

i’m having similar results on my ps3 as with emu… just execution problems.

There wasn’t an option for I play gouki.

I use 3P/3K, so I don’t think I’m a good enough source for that.

No issues on my end obviously.

I use a madcatz pad so I use 3p 3k macros as it’s otherwise it’s impossible to press two buttons with just my thumb.

I have experiened EX moves not coming out consistently, even in the training mode. It definately isn’t an execution error. The EX moves often come out as normal specials but only in combos. Examples like Ryu mk to ex fireball and makoto low lk to ex overhead spring to mind. It’s pretty infuriating, I really hope Capcom patch this.

Not using 3P/3K macro

I’m definitely experiencing problems offline on the 360. I’ll try to confirm again on the PS3, but I’ve never had this problem with the PS2 versions, the arcade or PC emulators. On the PC I use the SE stick though.
