Evolution X (2008): Decade of Domination!

Out of curiousity, when are the dates for Evo2k8 going to be decided? I know it’s way too early but last time I had to fight with colleagues to get that time of year off -_- I would like to request the days off as early as possible.

yea…i second this.
plus my ass likes spendin dough so…i wanna know the dates asap too

School started on the same day as Evo last year for me. T_T

Yeah…I don’t like that either.

Oh shit that’s right. I got school this year too

i hope vf5 is back this year! i’ll definately fly out there again for sure. i’m sure with the advent of vf online, more people will show up for this one.

TRAG, can you make this possible sir?

I know I’m probably going to get banned for saying this [or at least flamed like crazy, possibly with some death threats], but honestly SSB is Tekken with downplayed graphics, some projectiles[actually, also in Tekken - ala Devil Jin], and a Virtua Fighter out system, and no tech throws. Simple as that. They even have an equivalent to the back back, down back, back, down back Tekken technique, its called wave dashing. Think about it. As soon as you knock a person up, its like 40 percent bar at least in Tekken [relatively the same in SSB]. I say get rid of Tekken and SSB and get CVS2 back in with VF5 or Tekken 6. Screw DR and SSB.

You must like getting banned.

As someone who can play all the games mentioned I feel like disproving some stuff for now…

SSB has projectiles that are useful in high level gameplay (hello lazer hop spam). Tekken has only one projectile, but they are useless in high level gameplay (who the hell uses Devil Jin’s laser in high level tourney matches? That’s practically giving the round away right there, along with that dreaded universal uf+2 attack that everyone still has despite it’s usefulness being outdated waaaaay back in Tekken 2…).

Wavedashing in SSB and backdash cancelling (what you posted isn’t wavedashing in Tekken; only a select few can wavedash in Tekken) in Tekken are hella different from each other; it sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about since you probably don’t play both games at a competitive level, but oh well.

And juggles are different in SSB and Tekken; you can control your character while being juggled in SSB to try to fuck up their combos via directional influence, while in Tekken, you’re fucked until the juggle ends. Besides, Tekken juggles do way more than 40%…

And lol at comparing SSB to VF out system. Last I remember, VF didn’t have any system of trying to recover once you got thrown out of the edge, whereas it’s not the end of the world if you got knocked out of the edge in SSB…

Then I saw this. :shake:

u dont use the money for anything but cooter :wgrin:

but plz dont remove VF5
this year was gonna be my first year going to an Evo event (The Epidemic is paying) and that’s the only game i’m half decent in right now (currently)
im sure im not the only person that would be highly heart broken if it vanished

Evo will eventually HAVE to expand to 4+ days, but the scene isn’t quite ready for that yet, I think.

As such, 8 games is simply too much. And sorry, but VF5 is the easiest choice for removal. Every single other game has a proven track record of solid attendance, which makes those decisions tough, but VF5 is the lone exception.

Wait, you want to get rid of DR, yet you want tekken 6? You do know that if anything, T6 is more unbalanced then DR is right? Especially with rage, combined with the new Bounce system makes 100% Damage death combos right? I agree with SSB, though. I hate people who call themselves fighting game players if their sole game is SSB, no health bars? Not a fighting game for me. SSB is more of a party game in my eyes. And what’s this about putting CVS2 back in, I thought it was already in there in the first place.

First off, replacing DR with Tekken 6 makes no sense.

And second, while SSBM isn’t a traditional fighting game, it has as much/more depth when compared to every other game on the potential Evo list. It’s a true competitive fighter, which is something I’m sure you’d understand if you ever tried to play the game competitively.

While there aren’t any guarantees that Brawl will be as deep as Melee, there is the guarantee that tons of people are going to travel to Evo to play it. Besides, I’m willing to bet that the SSB community accounts for more of the turnout at Evo than CvS2, VF5, and Tekken. Like MvC2 and 3S, SSB shouldn’t be dropped.

VF may not have gotten numbers, but it also has the most potential for growth. Nobody new is gonna start playing Marvel…

That being said, it’s up to the VF community to prove that it can build itself before Evo stamps it, IMO. I don’t think it’s up to Evo to build a scene.

Tekken 6 is the newest Tekken. So yeah EVO always has the newest Tekken game out. Make the CVS2 tournament Single Match to revive CVS2 and so that the game goes by faster and everyone can have 2/3 matches instead of just one :lame: match.

I totally agree.

With VF being online for 360 and having steady comp going online, VF could definately blow up.

The line up should be simple…

Mvc2
3s
GG
SSBB
Tekken DR
cvs2
Soul calibur 4
sf2

Possibly
VF5
Tekken 6
Streetfighter 4

Which is why I didn’t go last year.

How many people would show up for SC4? I’d much rather have VF5 unless SC4 plays like SC1.

Also, I really hope GG makes a comeback. There are a lot of new heads popping up at Dustloop so thanks to the US release. If Marvel didn’t bring so much hype around it, I’d say cut that.

Whats all this talk about dropping CvS2? Thats just lame and ridiculous. If your smart, you should know that this is one of the big money makers for the tourneys. And its still mainly popular in the fighting scene. Would be a “BIG MISTAKE” not having it at this years EVO. I don’t care if it has to be single rounds to make the tourney run smooth. Just don’t drop it PERIOD!

cvs2 is usually single game til the end
