How long are the same things going to be mentioned. Some of the Guilty Gear players fucked up at Evo 2007, there is no denying that. To take it out on the entire community, which absolutely deserves a spot now that it has a bugless American release and a continuously growing community is absolutely ridiculous. Disqualifying players who aren’t there for the time of their match is an easy way to solve all of the issues with tardiness, for all of the games. Also, saying that GG doesn’t have a dedicated community because not everyone went to the early morning finals is ridiculous, it’s a Sunday morning in Vegas, or course tons of people aren’t going to be up, especially those who weren’t there for Guilty Gear specifically.

I always thought evo was a compilation of Street Fighter games, to be honest idk why we have tekken/smash/VF not to say those games suck but the main events are obviously MVC2/CVS2/3S add STHD and SF4. Id say when SF4 comes out hold tourney’s for both and evo then depending on the reaction you can keep/remove 3S. AlsoEvo should be a day longer imo, I know its hard work for you guys but it would make the experience better to have it longer even if its a day. Just my 2 cents…

In any case, yeah there are a lot of fucked up people in the GG community and there are a lot of lazzy bums. I’d say 60% of us whatch anime all day in front of the cpu and never go out of the house, probably dont have jobs either. However, some of us arent in fact we could be pretty reliable. So I would appretiate it if people would stop sterotyping everyone who plays GG as an anime fag and uses the past bad expereinces they had with the community to shut the rest out.
About the sleeping in: Looking at it objectivly it does look real bad and if it were me I would have sleep earlier. I think some of the GG community disagrees only because we feel we are the minoritys being pushed around. So in essance they may think that having the tournment that early was done in spite against them. In any case I hope everything works out, I would love to see GG on the big screen and some interviews by the top players.
All you guys should stop living in the 1970s and join us in the new millennium. Evolution is for all fighting games, not just street fighter. Hence, thats why the main site is at www.evo2k.com not shoryuken.com. While SF will be a big part of EVO it wont be only series of games to be there.
Its a fighting game community not a SF community and its high time people started realizing it, instead of being so narrow minded.
Yeah I remember being down there at like 8:30 and seeing SIX stations set up, and all of them being played until the GG players had to actualy ask us to make use of some for casuals.

People just need to stop being sore about “anime” games coming into Evo, they’re good fighting games and everyone should at least give them a try. Hell, I did and I couldn’t stand the anime games before. Just get you heads outta the ground.

I don’t have a problem with the weird people seeing that they’re only becoming more of the norm with the rise in popularity of Japanese culture in the US. Short of totally blowing off the many weird people at conventions and tournaments…you can only learn to understand them. Deep down I’ve always felt “weird” myself as I’m not the GTA/Halo/Madden playing, Basketball dribbling black guy that is the norm of American society. With that I feel I can relate to them a bit more. I like fighting games and they do too so it works for me. I can understand if their traits and personalities are a bit too much for some. Some of them just aren’t normal people at all.
Good to get an official statement from the Wiz on the direction that Evo is taking. With so much emphasis on SF in the past it’s hard to see Evo branching out from that but, it makes sense. There are other very popular fighting games out there and the only way to keep promoting the fighting game scene is to also make room for them so that we can grow together.
Well, if its a fighting game community that’s great I just didn’t want to see SF games get pushed out for Smash Brothers, but that’s simply a matter of preference. I do agree with Havoc though, tournaments are starting to become really weird. I went to this past NEC and that was probably one of the most awkward tournaments I’ve been to considering I used to go them when they were at UP.
Well I guess a lot changes in 5-10 years. I’d much rather play or watch any of the “anime” games than SSB. SSB just gets on my nerves. Don’t like the way it looks…don’t like the way it plays…it just doesn’t work for me as a fighting game. I prefer the way games like SF and Guilty Gear play. SSB just plays too differently and I’m not a big fan of Nintendo characters. Doesn’t help that the characters are all extremely small and makes it tough to understand what’s going on when you’re watching it. Anything with Pokemon characters in it = auto fail for me. It’s just not hardcore enough for me I guess.
Older SF games getting replaced by newer stuff is almost inevitable but if we keep bringing the numbers that shouldn’t happen too soon. 3S isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and SFIV will make sure at least one SF game is still in the roster. CVS2, MVC2 and ST all have a possibility IMO of getting knocked out but if people keep showing for those games and keeping them hype…it’ll be less likely. We also know that if any of those games do get knocked out people will be running side tourneys with the quickness. Guilty Gear should have a strong turnout this year seeing that the newest version of the game is accessible to everybody now.
Is that why you only play GG with me and Pat?

eddy gordo dj was easily top tier highlight material though
he was incredibly sick and apparently clogged up 2 toilets already, when someone asked him for some money to stay in his room, he MONEY MATCHED THE VERY PERSON for the exact amount to stay in the room. it was his own fault for not being prepared. idk about anyone else though.
