I duno, I guess the answer to that is subjective and will vary with everyone, but I’d like to believe it does. To some degree. It’s a way of measuring progress, and who’s up there with the top currently. I mean in the grand scheme, according to payout especially, no, it doesn’t matter outside of the top 8. But I do think the top 30 or so is a good measure of who’s strong at the moment, regardless of how the tournament is ran.
But take that all with a grain of salt lol. I’m slightly tipsy and in philosopher’s mode. I’m the answer to the latest news story and offer opinions for free in this mode.
America is not Japan, and there are a lot of people who don’t get exposure to every character. You can try to be a hardass about it and blame the players, but that’s just the nature of the American scene.
When money is involved for 3-8th place, yes it does matter.
I think everyone would like to see players who play mid tier characters doing well, but not because they randomed a lot of people out, but because they are just really skilled.
I agree everything but the last statement and yes, people like to blame others.
I think it does take skill regardless if it is 1/1 or 2/3. Nuki and Tokido, the top two players at EVO, had no problems plowing everyone, regardless of what characters people used, over and neither did Valle. I was not surprised to see Fubarduck, Ricky, and Ed being on top 8 as well. AznHitler took down Ed Ma on 2/3 at the finals and Ed Ma is a good player. Mike Wakefield took down Ino and 5 Star at pools and took AznHitler out of the finals who took out Ed Ma.
I mean, come on. Could it be possible that these people might actually have some talent? I think most people are angry at Mike and AznHitler is because they had never heard of them before. Personally, I congratulate Mike and AznHitler. There was a lot of pressure at the pools considering that it was 1/1 and they managed to get top 8. But, I’ll stop here, considering that I have not watched these people play. I can’t wait for the DVD.
Anyways, Evolution should be 2/3 because money is involved and people actually paid to enter.
Who said anything about anyone not having any talent? I’m just saying it’s more likely for people to get wins due to random tactics than consistent skilled/smart play when you have less matches. That’s why people don’t play MM’s just 1 game.
I would assume it would have been Dagger G since he’s pretty much the best Remy I’ve played at Evo. Or at least IMO would have the highest chance of placing. There were a couple other decent Remy players but they didn’t quite show off the expertise that he had.
I forgot all my money matches this year. I just wanted to focus on the tourney this time. Next year I’ll promise to get at least a couple money matches in.
