The brackets reset into semi-finals, which was really nice. There’s probably minor mistakes up above - lemme know what’s wrong and I’ll update. Thanks to epsilon for details on the final 8.
Thanks. I thought I’d be in the tied for 33rd spot but good to see I’m slightly above that at 25th (Johnathon Braxton). Considering I went 2 and out last year this is good. My match with Ino was crazy good. Got a special Japanese hug from him and everything. Five Star handed me my ass and my match with Rockafeller was crazy close. The look on his face when he lost was priceless. Like the buttons stopped working or something. Still got mad respect for him holding down the 3S scene the way he does.
Well…there wasn’t really much to see to be honest. Outside of honoring his roots he’s better off with Chun. It was obvious even last year that Nuki just knows him too well and Tokido’s Urien is too out of practice to even make a difference. Like Tokido would get close to winning a round just to end up losing. Still gotta get hype for it though. He was one of the original Urien players.
LMFAO still DDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNN
it just comes to show even the best us players arent taking the japanese style single elimination format too serious unless it was unforseen until the last min…that shouldve sucked…but good shit devil jin for placing higher than most of the best US players…Ibuki got that magic workin for her ass lol
My bad. It was single match…double elimination. It felt like single elimination though cuz you only got one match to do what you needed to do and if you messed up you go to losers. . Mess up again…you’re gone. Only difference is in Japan if you mess up at all that’s it. It was just different and the whole getting one chance to play gave it that Japanese tourney feel. Some reason in my pool the first person I had to play in my losers bracket I beat. Then S-Kill told me I had to beat him again. He said that was just the way the brackets worked out. I really should learn how to run brackets to figure out some of this stuff. I like to go all out any ways so I didn’t have a problem with that. Mad people still weren’t feeling it though. I think I was the only person that actually liked the change. Gotta come out with them tricks all da time. Thx for da props.
lol oh i see…did they tell you at the last min or was it said ahead of time about the format…and how many ppl joined anyways…to see those kinds of results and MAADD new ppl it got me wondering what was the entry count
I’m sure the entry count was over 200. The only game that could have been higher is obviously SSBM which is easily the most popular fighting game in the US. SF playaz dont necessarily like it but they still are gonna help us promote the scene.
Pretty much everyone was notified of what was going down in 3S when they put the rules up on the projection screen. “Due to time constraints…3S pools will be single match…double elimination”. CVS2 the night before was under the same rules so I only assumed 3S would be the same. Game takes a long time simply because there’s just a ton of people who play it. One of my other players from the area wanted to back out at first and had to convince him to just go in and play. I dont think Evo was giving refunds any ways.
My bad. I really didn’t even play much casuals at all. I just wanted to go in hard when it was time and show everyone wuz up. Lemme know if you’re hitting up any east coast tourneys.
We all have a right to feel cheated from the format changes. All we can do now however is hope they are prepared next year to not force any game to become best of 1 from best of 3.
EDIT: Preppy, AZNHitler lost to Mike twice. I am pretty sure Tokido lost to Nuki twice also.
