Well college just started for me a week ago, I couldn’t just up and get to evo. Wouldn’t be so bad if I wasn’t all the way in Alabama. Good thing FR is only 2 hours away when it happens. Maybe next year I’ll go to evo. I really didn’t want to go play if I couldn’t put on a good show and I don’t feel I’m good enough for that.
Seeing Exodus and DevilJin do good makes me feel better though!
You’re good enough. There were a lot of good peepz but a lot of scubs too. A lot of people I’m sure knew they weren’t coming out of their pools or even winning more than one match. U just gotta believe and put on a show after you pick your character.
Well it is ONE game that I “specialize” in.
That’s a long ways to go just to get my butt beat in just one game. And it’s not even about being the best. I think I’d shit my pants just to say I was in the top five of evo at 5th place with Q. Don’t worry, ATL has got some fighters waiting to wear me out in a few months. Part of the fun for me is putting on a good fight for those watching, even if I do lose. Will I ever be as good the top US players? Jury is still out on that one but I can’t help but compare my abilities to the best of the best, even though it isn’t in their league. That’s why I’m always negative even when I do win against people.
enough sob story: congrats to those that made it out there and represented the fighting game scene for every game played at evo. Keep it going.

I guess that spices things up, but sheesh…I’m sure alot of people felt like they didnt get their moneys worth.
Not me…LOL. I just turned 21 so I got my money’s worth either way. Yeah…like everyone else was complaining though. I even tried to call people who I knew didn’t really play 3S to tell them the news and see who they could random out. By the time I found out though the tourney had already started and I dont think they announced anything till after registration was over. Scrubs didn’t find out the “good” news till tourney started. I’m pretty sure even a lot of scrubs were complaining because they wouldn’t get that second match to try and win one on somebody decent. It’s all about the first round baby. Win that first round. If you don’t…play like someone lit your seat on fire for the 2nd.

True…everyone could use that extra match. I’ve advanced/won tourneys where I lost the first match as well. Single match is not necessarily smart for an event where all the top players dont play each other all the time to begin with. I dunno…if you take the prize money out I just see it as the idea that we’re all playing for that top spot or at least somewhere near it and if we’ve got it we’ve got it. Especially if we still get double elimination. Meaning we can lose and still get another chance to go at it. Once you qualified the brackets were reset as well which was nice. You got another 2 chances to whoop ass. Last year if you lost a match when you qualified out of pools that loss carried over to semis. If you lost again you were done.
I definitely agree that the whole thing was really sloppy and should be dealt with for next year. Yet I know from playing in enough tournaments that things just dont always run on schedule but in the end if you are in it to win it you’ll win it. I mean unless you are wrongly disqualified from the tourney or the game resets or something that doesn’t allow you to hit the buttons right happens…just get in and win.
