Evo yun vs fei edition

i wasn’t bummed at all. i knew juicebox was gonna lose soon as he picked juri vs akuma who takes advantage of her weakness. and i do hope yun win. he’s a cool character.

First of all, Tokido threw the fight against Daigo, which lost major respect points with me. Second, as good as Tokido was, his shit has been seen time and time again in tournaments. Juri is rarely seen in such high end play, let alone at such an incredible mix up game level. IMO, it looked like an even matchup to me and could have gone either way. But Juicebox’s Juri had gone into Evo much stronger looking than Tokido’s Akuma, so I don’t know where you were getting Tokido had the upper hand.

And I really hope he loses. He’s a fad character, everyone only picked him because of his OP’ness in Third Strike, and now in AE, and on top of that, his voice annoys the shit out of me. Sorry, but I want a person to win who uses a character who is not hyped up on caffeine and crack. XD

Akuma beats Juri

Meh, I still say it wasn’t an outright slaughter, so that point is invalid. Had he perfected her ass twice, or basically stomped her in, then I could see this having merit. Going in, sure, that opinion could have been used. But after that match, you can’t tell me you felt the same way. =P

DANCE PUPPETS DANCE

but srsly, yun is op, and evo is gay now cuss we only see like 5 characters.

it doesn’t have to be slaughter to dictate that juri lose to akuma 6-4. once juri is on knockdown, safe jump df palm os sweep basically insures that juri cannot do anything other than block. if you watched the match over, you would see that tokido started winning once he whore’d out palm on her wake up. juri just have no options to fend off palm. and once he keep you honest because of palm, akuma is just free to mix her anyway he wants.

Akuma beats Juri 6-4

Akuma has options to shut down Juri. It’s not unwinnable for her but it’s bad.

Must be your first Evo. If you watch for character variety, you’re doing it wrong. Evo is about dat high level stuff, playing to win.

Did you just pick up the game last week or what?

Almost all the matches where good except for tokido vs Daigo either that shit was hella free or he was sandbagging like a bitch.

It just boils down to experience. Latif comes from an environment that carries over very well to C.Viper (He played Guilty Gear before this game, particularly Eddie, so his mixups and execution have been honed over the years already.) Wolfkrone hasn’t had nearly as much time in the scene nor the close competitive community that he has had access to.

Also, shoutouts to Sanchez and Chris Hu commentary right now; shit is priceless lmao.

QFT. This isn’t 2003/2004 Evo (sans Evo moment #37).

Chris Hu talking about donkey shows I almost died laughing.

I completely agree with this. I never got why Wolfkrone is so hyped up everytime he plays. I mean he is obviously great, but as far as entertainment goes Latif plays Viper in a much more ‘technical’ way if that makes any sense. It’s because he used to play guilty gear, a gamein which a lot of characters are cviper status as far as execution goes. I just like his playstyle so much better, with the many feints and the crazy mindgames etc.

i am actualy dissapointed there was no yang players in top 32 :frowning:

So am I being a Yang main and all but I guess it was to be expected. His representation overall in the tournament was pretty poor, with none of the people specializing in him really showing up to play. Was kinda hoping to see a little bit of technology that people were cooking up with him.

Dunno, this evo seemed overly similar like last year’s.
Strong characters appearing a lot (like 4 times), a few other strong picks, and a few oddballs like Juri, Guy, Adon(exact same oddballs btw).
Vanilla certainly did not have the best variety either.
So, SF4 wise?
Same shit.

Yeah, I was kinda sad a few Nemo grandmasters could not make it.
But the less attention he gets, the less he gets destroyed to appease whiners perhaps, haha

They were there, but they played Yun and Fei instead.

Has anyone looked at the top 32 battle log at Event Hubs? 20 of the 29 matches listed involved Fei and/or Yun. Pretty funny.

top 32, 13 fei longs and 7 yuns

Fatofi said it. This character distribution says its all about the tiers in this game. Yun, Fei, Viper are clearly the most capable characters overall with the fewest bad matchups. (I also think Yang and Akuma are there, but they are underplayed.) These characters don’t know what a bad match up is - only ones in which they have to work a little harder than their normal routine.

There were NO charge characters in the top 32. I wonder how far, Honda, Rog, and Dictator made it? These characters were nerfed to hell (minus rog)… and Dictator never had good showings at majors. He’s an overrated character that only beats the low tier cast well. (And a big ??? at the commentary on Dictator as well. Pyscho Punisher = a flashkick motion? And Dictator gives Yun a hard time? I am sure that’s why the dictator specialists like Yipes made that match look even. Oh wait, they didnt, they got wrecked.)

I’m not complaining about the stream here. Loved it , will continue to watch on Sunday. I’m glad top 8 is a little more diverse than top 32, but that’s mostly because of feis and yuns eliminating one another.

Yeah it was ridiculous watching fight after fight with the same characters. And Yun’s style gets boring after a while.
