EVO West vs. East 5v5. Who should get drafted?

I just hope West Coast representatives won’t be 80% SoCal, 20% NorCal. Would like to see a 60/40 socal/norcal. 100% socal wouldn’t surprise me.

Honestly if you havent made top 4 or 8 at a major you shouldnt even be considered in the east vs west coast i mean lets be real we wanna see who the best is might as well pick all the consistent strong players from each coast and have them fight it out…Also why are ppl sleepin on ClakeyD smh

Maybe because there are really good players who haven’t been to a Major for this game yet? It’s only been out a handful of months. I promise you there is about 5 players from the Seattle area that can shouldn’t be slept on in the WestCoast.

Where they at ncr? Ect? Ceo? Revla?.. nope…

So because a player hasn’t attended a Major for MvC3 since it’s 4 months release, means they’re not good enough to make the roster by default? You’re an idiot. That doesn’t even make sense.

I’m guessing none of you have seen Genghis play.

It’s one thing looking awesome blowing up netplay scrubs or your friends in your basement, it’s another thing beating other top players in tournament. The spots should go to those with proven track records.

While I agree with you, I still think they should have to compete to hold those spots. Your logic implies that since A, B, C, D and E players have proven track records, they automatically should be awarded a Top8 finish at EvO also. Which is fundamentally flawed. Any one of the players listed that people “think should be on the team” could lose in bracket play, right?

Do you not agree it’d be good for the scene to have them have to earn a spot on a 5v5 roster as well? We might end up finding some hidden talent that just couldn’t make it to any other Majors(so far) aside from EvO?

The game has been out for all of 4-5 months. Some people might just not have been able to attend any of major event yet – but are still animals at this game and could potentially body half of the name suggested so far. I.E: Rowtron

Rowtron was grinding MvC2 24/7, winning local events and placing high in EC majors. He wasn’t considered gdlk until those big wins. All that new tech that the Seattle crew came up with didn’t mean anything until they successfully debuted it in a high-pressure environment. The thing with playing for spots, with a game as random as MvC3 DP and lvl 3 XF means you’re always just one wrong guess away from having your entire team decimated. No one should be “automatically awarded” wins, but when choosing representatives, those who have represented well should be chosen, right?

Of course, and he’s still winning all his local events, and I’m fully aware who has represented well and who hasn’t…yet. But these people who’ve done so well, have had to play against all types of comp, DP teams included – and they’ve still done well. So why couldn’t they do well against those same type of teams again when having to compete for a roster spot? Also, using the DP and XF lvl3 argument is invalid to me because no matter what, everybody who plays this game has the same tools, characters and xfactor available to them.

So, in a competitive sport where nothing is just “given” to you, playing for a spot and playing to keep it shouldn’t be too much to ask for. Who is to say that Row, or me, or you, or some random player from Iowa isn’t just as good or better than some of these players that have placed so well – and just haven’t had the chance to attend a Major for “this” game yet?

Like I said before, not taking anything away from any of them because they’re all great players – but I hope I’m not alone when I say I’d like to have the best players representing me and my coast, and not a roster full of players that have just had alot of face time and media exposure. (Again, not taking anything away from any of them)

Competition is what our scene was built on. I don’t think we should throw it all to the wayside based on the “popular vote”.

We all kno there are good players that havent been to a major but we dont kno how good they are to be just throwing them on a team like i consider myself to be good and think i should play on the west side but im an unknown nobody knows me so what purpose does it serve…This is meant to be about the best on each side going at it…To crush all the deliberation they should just have an all east tournment and all west tournement and the top 5 from each should play each other in the 5 vs 5

That’s what seeding is about, you get seeded because you have proven yourself. You can say player Y is hella good or even the best, but if no evidence other than the small circle is there they arent. Why pick a player you havent seen compete before with someone who you know can actually handle pressure and other responsibilities.

I see what you mean, they should earn their spots. But Mine and Xray did just that, no one knew who they were outside of their local scene. Also I know the 206 has hella competition, it’s just we havent seen them yet.

Evo trying to be hype by copying MvC2 5 on 5 but MvC3 is dead on the East Coast (the godlike NYC players don’t travel, you never saw them and never will) and Triforce doesn’t care about the East Coast so I don’t see this Evo event being exciting at all.

You’re more likely to see an EMP vs Team USA MvC3 event.

Trust me, I understand that 100% and I don’t for one second think anyone who hasn’t had the chance to prove themselves on a bigger stage should just “get a spot” over anyone who “has” proven themselves, but they do have the right to earn a spot if they’re good enough to win. That’s all I’m saying.

Recycling the same names over and over again without giving the rest of the community a chance to shine is never good.

i get that you want your norcal boys on the team and all but seriously? i can understand if you were to say fchamp ,xray , and thin are better than marn and cw , but to say combofiend isnt as good as those players … no bias there at all… clearly. he has gotten the best out of viscant the majority of the time , outside of clakeyd beasting him at ncr i dont see why one would get the idea combo isnt as good as the 3 norcal players youve mentioned.

Haven’t seen Clakey in a while honestly.

his performance at revelations was pretty good . it was the first time i seen wolv do berseker charge and slash loops with the charge still on . he has some pretty extensive combos with wolv and mag , you should check it out

The b.slash loops were like day 2 Wolverine combos, but I’ll check out his Revelations games. I mostly kept up with the tourney on the east coast.

That’s dumb.

ClakeyD beat combofiend and ALMOST made it to the finals with viscant he’s been a sleeper for a while now
