EVO West vs. East 5v5. Who should get drafted?

OMG SPOILERS. j/k Yeah, I’m watching it and that battle just ended. Guess I’ll throw down a url just in case anyone else wants to see it. http://www.justin.tv/leveluplive/b/287948765

Personally, I enjoyed his match with Fatatiq.

Competing for spots makes sense.

Your just mad seatle isn’t even though off. If they are so “good” why didn’t any make the effort to go to a major? If you haven’t played in a major you aren’t shit tbh. You can win all your locals beat your whole area but until I see an actual seatle person come to a major and do well then they aren’t getting on the 5 on 5.

Luckily the only thing left in your hands is yourself then.

You’re way too narrow-minded.

You are well aware that winning locals generates no revenue to travel to events right? Traveling from the 206 to the bay is bank. 16 hour drive plus plane ride and what not. The cost of living in CA is higher than any other state. Misrepresentation is due to lack of funds. Actually the same goes for the 925 scene they arent willing to travel to SF or any where else. So how do we know the 925 have heaters? Same concept with Seattle/Wash.

MarlinPie has to register today if he’s going, Josh Wong isn’t apparently, and Masta CJ got sponsored by DRS so he’s going.

EC:
NerdJosh
MastaCJ
Chris G

Demon Hyo (Pretty sure he’s going)
Noel Brown
Ryry

WC:
Justin Wong
Combofiend
Viscant
Filipino Champ

Clockw0rk
Clakey D
Shady K
Ghengis
Fanatiq
Mine

The WC can have 2 teams :frowning:

Dude, do you have ANY idea how impossible it would be to do what you’re asking? Open challenges for spots? Do you realize the administrative nightmare this would be? How the hell do you accommodate this when the players are living hundreds of miles away from each other, and a virtually infinite number of challenges to be played? Why would they even waste their time organizing a match against some random asshat who will probably get pwned anyway?

Open your eyes man and just think about what you’re asking, because it ain’t gonna happen as it’s not even really possible!

The perfectly sensible and reasonable thing would be let the Captains choose from players that have already proven themselves. Easy, quick, and works. Not perfect, but the only perfect thing would be have a league with ranking battles in every state, yada yada, pipe dream, basically impossible.

If you (or someone else) hasn’t been out to a major, that’s ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT. It sucks, but that’s the truth man.

They could saved up… the fact is no one is gonna consider a random washington head over fchamp, viscant etc just because someone says that they are good. The opportunity to be on the 5 on 5 should be a privilage not a right. You get on the 5 on 5 because you proved yourself somehow to the community. Not " oh I am on the west coast I should be on there "…

Actually I’m from 925 and I travel a lot especially with a lot of the guys sometimes…

Well you’re dumb. There’s this thing called money. It isn’t infinite, man.

Riiight.

Well, you don’t have to agree with it, but the reailty is that people should always have to compete for their respective spots on any roster, or any team, in any competitive sport.

Also, I’m from the SF Bay Area, and don’t get the chance to go home to visit friends and family enough let alone for events (even though I’d really like to), but not being able to travel isn’t just a money issue – it’s a time issue. Other things might be happening for other players during these events. For example, NCR I was supposed to attend, but had something that came up last minute that I couldn’t get out of.

My point is that player’s shouldn’t be discredited because they haven’t had a chance to make it out, when some of these events are cross-country from some people – just as the players who “have” been able to travel and have placed well shouldn’t just be given a roster slot when another player might be better than them.

End of story.

It’s still their own fault for not going, and as for money, they can go make some! Get a job! Save up! It’s what the rest of us do!

If they REALLY wanted to go to these things, they could.

I completely agree with you. However, what you propose simply isn’t possible. Think of the time constraints, the organization of such a task, the logistics, etc. Ideally yes, you would absolutely want everyone to earn a spot, but it can’t be done.

You hear that, poor people? You need money, so go out there and get yourself a job. Simple as that.

(I’m sorry, I had to.)

Lol…

The best decision is the day before the 5v5 if they can’t decide or have an open slot we do a quallification mini tourney. Make it hype like a 50$ entry fee ( if your that confident back it up with cash ). Kinda like salty suite then stream it. Say eastcoast has 2 empty slots ( they will half of the top players aren’t going ) top 2 slots get entry and 60/40 split of the cash.

Simple as that.

And before anyone say " why not make it free " cause then everyone would enter and a 50$ entry is a good kicker to make or break your decision.

Maybe the money can go towards a side bet and split among the winning team.

Ryan Hunter

Unsure if Flash will be going. Haven’t check option select but last I heard, his bank account had suspicious activity and was frozen and he had not bought his plane ticket or EVO stuff yet.

It’s going to be a rough road for EC if EMP doesn’t participate; they are really going to miss Andre, I think.

Nah, I think even Justin will recognize F. Champ.

Nor Cal hasn’t received as much attention yet because they were really first seen at NCR9. If they got out and traveled more, they’d be better AND people would talk a lot more about them. I was incredibly impressed with Xray after NCR for instance. Lot of potential showing weekly at Starbase

I’m counting on it. If Justin only recognized F.Champ, then that would be 80% SoCal, 20% NorCal. So I’m hoping for at least two NorCal names on the team. In terms of size, what NorCal is to the West Coast is looking like what Florida is the East Coast. At least when it comes to MvC3. The majority of the players are on the opposite vertical end.

Additional representation would be nice but in the end, it’s about getting the W. If the other Nor Cal players aren’t as accomplished as Viscant, Combofiend, Clockwork etc, then it’s tough to justify giving up a spot just to change it from 80/20 to 60/40.

EMP not being in the 5v5 wouldnt really be that big of a deal guys…theres only 2 people from there that i’d consider to rep the EC…which are jago and remix.
But even without them, EC still got some strong killers (assuming they are going):

  1. Chris G
  2. PR Balrog
  3. Josh Wong
  4. RyRy
  5. MastaCJ

I’d choose most of these guys over any EMP players anyday.

Yeah, in NorCal, if FChamp is at a Marvel tourney, chances are he’s gonna take 1st, and if he isn’t… maybe K-beast or Chrisis or Dacidbro. Only a few players have stopped him a while ago, but his track record on getting 1st is pretty consistent lately. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for those who have either beaten him or placed just beneath him. idk any history on X-Ray. He seems to be just coming up.
