EVO West & SBO Quals (3s/ST) at Family Fun Arcade: 7/19-7/20

are you seroius?
i have a New Astro City SSF2X cab if they wanted to rent it
if anyone wants to partner and/or practice on a real cab, let me know i’m from westminster.

and oh, this is going to be on the same day of the fedor fight… :shake:

Can i come ? <3

LOL! Why can’t people just play on a stick during a tourney and not complain for once.

Yo no Japanese sticks is like qualifying for a basketball tournament and the qualifiers are played with a soccer ball. You gonna tell the celtics to play soccer?! It’s 2008 why are we going back in time, we should stay with the standard.

There’s plenty of Japanese cabs at FFA. Although Family will probably use the h2h American cabs. People are going to bitch regardless of what cabinets and sticks are used. :\

i didnt know us arcade standards were jap sticks/buttons/cabs?

I thought it would be a no-brainer to run a qualifier for a Japanese tournament on Japanese sticks

But I guess not

Its not , cant say the same for SBO tho. :looney:

HEY, WATSON DO YOU WANT TO TEAM UP?:looney:

Sup…Well, my potential partner hasn’t said if he wants to be my partner yet, so I’m waiting on that. But if he says no, I have no idea. sim/guile combo could be good.

Old sim, eh?

while i may agree. some people rather use american sticks to heighten their chances of qualifying. it really goes both ways. but atleast ffa has the luxury of possibly doing both. at mwc, we are stuck with american only for SBO qual. thats just how it is, unfortunately

I understand having the option for American sticks, because some people prefer them, but to ONLY have American sticks seems bizarre to me.

I know there’s not much that can be done in some cases, it’s just a bummer

its times like these that i am glad that i am fluent on pretty much any working stick

Stick arguments again.

How can you have the options of using both? You need three sets of linkable cabinets then. One with J vs J one with A vs J, and one with A vs A sticks. That way everyone is happy.

Why do people not realize how difficult it is to get all this stuff together when only 30 people show up anyway?

Standard in the US is US Sticks. Yes, some people prefer Japanese, and some prefer American sticks. For every person you hang around with that wants or plays on Japanese sticks, I know of at least 5 to 1 that prefer American sticks. It’s all preference.

If they have a japanese cab handy they might as well use it even if it’s just so that los hermanos wolfe can get a more authentic warm-up.

5 to 1 currently is stretching it. Maybe amongst the OGs but the alarming majority use Japanese these days. At all the last tournys ive been to sans MWC most people are using Japanese.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

no love for cvs2?

my scrubby ass can’t even play any other games…

i guess no EVO west for me

Hey, JROD! HOLLER AT YOUR BOY! WE BEAST.

Tourneys are not exactly the majority audience of people buying these sticks. Keep in mind, the tourneys you talk about are basically handfuls and “groups” of players. No Japanese stick has ever sold well in the US, it’s just not sturdy enough. US Sticks have sold extremely well since that is what people played on at the arcades beforehand. Believe me, we did market testing and research on this stuff. Real Arcade Pro (Pelican, 100K units) and SFAC (NubyTech 20K units, only two production runs) are the top selling “arcade” sticks ever in the United States (this does not include those little “fake” arcade sticks like Soul Calibur stick, and Pelican arcade sticks in blister packs.

Most people going to tourneys have custom/expensive sticks. It’s not as popular as you think it is. Just because you see 50 people play Guilty Gear in a tourney, and 10 people play DOA does not mean DOA is not more popular, it’s just more popular with a non tourney crowd (sales numbers, DOA wrecks Guilty Gear)
