Oh, and SF4 tournament results so far are only one piece of the puzzle when talking about who the best players will be at Evo. Access to SF4 was extremely limited before the console release. A lot can change in four months.

That’s what people are trying to do. That’s what they try to do every year there’s a region battle, but everyone of the “best” players on the team refuses except a few people. X offered up his spot on the EC marvel team a few years ago with the agreement that anyone who wanted it had to MM him in a set for a minimum of 50 bucks. If you’re really the best, this should be a no-brainer and easy money.

That’s a bigger argument for holding actual qualifiers than it is for appointing a captain.
I probably plan to hold a side tourney at Devastation 09. For 2 reasons:

It’s far enough away that it gives everyone ample time to learn the game and get good.

It’s gonna be without a doubt, the largest tourney in the southwest region that will attract a lot of players, so it just makes sense.
Also, I WILL be playing for a spot too, on the team. I believe this is the most fair way, IMO

probably not. most players from this region attend devastation, it makes the most sense. if texas decides not to come, its on them. its gonna be a big tourney regardless. the upcoming arcade ufo tourney is too soon anyway, not fair to the majority of the players that just got their hands on sf4 for the first time in february.
