Mr Wizard, you should really step into this and make this a Fair event for everyone, because remember this is an event for EVERYONE… not ONE or just SOME… set a standard rule for each captain to follow and Bam! there you have teams built up everywhere with no one left out incoherently! I mean for anyone being in the wild card and NOT represent their respective ‘region’, instead teamed up with people from somewhere else, is not really relevant… and having 2 socal team is just not right either… people, im sure, would like to represent their own region… I’m sure you might have considered this…
the goal is the reach outside the box, not stay within the box…

So what do you tell the people who complained when there are qualifiers? Your only seeing one side of the issue. Anyone who’s seen all the 5v5s and sbo qualifiers will tell you that there is no solution that is going to please everyone.
Your just accepting posts as the problem, and not looking at the real issue:
Any system will pick 5 people, some players are a friend of / a fan of / a cousin of / someone that is not in those 5, therefore they will find a reason to complain, 100% garunteed every time.
What is a democracy? an internet vote? a tournament? how does that change anything? There will still be worthy players left out, people will still be hurt, except now they are directing the hate towards the people there to run the tournaments, instead of discussing it among themselves, the people that wanted the 5v5 to begin with.
If you want a fair exhibition, make a tournament. If you want an unfair tournament, create an exhibition. Evo has both, what’s the problem?
Just don’t make SRK Wildcard a top japanese team. This would be just a way to f*** US IMO. US gets splattered among many teams and Japan would be bale to concentrate its strengths.
A good, powerful, fair and fun for the audience wildcard team, IMO, would be made of fan favorite rejects from the other teams. Or, for a better name, You Just Don’ Know team.
I like Potter when he talks about Marvel strats. I don’t think his posts are made to be taken too seriously anywhere else. Valle seems way more reasonable. Before the hate comes, I even hink that Watts on a separate team (wildcard) can bring a lot of extra fuel to the exhibition. It can only be better if he moves to NY.
My vote is also for Mike Ross for Wild Card. Dude’s got a sick Honda game and is consistently doing awesome in his tournaments. Plus runner up at the Gamestop national ain’t bad either
and another spot should go to ultradavid
he maybe hasnt attended as many tourneys as ross, but he has placed in the top 3 pretty consistently. his zangief is a beast as well, and there arent too many US gief players
