I’m glad to hear everyone’s feedback that lives in So. Cali =) because they definitely know what’s going on in our region.
Credibility:
I’ve placed top 8 in EVERY EVO except 2005 from all iterations of SF including mvc2( I was a day late for qualifiers that year) and LOL at the ST placings that year without me.
For those that are new: Hi my name is Alex Valle aka CaliPower… yes I’m good at SF and I place top 8 every year.
Which turn out do you call consistent? your local arcade turnouts? or nationwide turnouts aka FR,Sinsation, EVO etc?
What placing is consistent?? top 3 or top 8??
The only true consistent player I see is Gootecks and he’s on the team.

I vote Mike Watson for wild card captain.
The other thing to remember is that SoCals best players could easily fill the Wild Card team, and then some, so it’s going to be harder to narrow down the selection for our region than some other regions
I don’t think anybody will deny what you can do on a big stage overall in all incarnations of street fighter. And most of us will be willing to admit that you are very good in Street Fighter 4 as well (anyone who doesn’t is either retarded or just leagues better than you). However, the main complaint most people had is that many of us feel that Mike Ross is a better player than you in Street Fighter 4 alone. And under both definitions of consistency you provided, he has been more consistent than you. Almost any tournament he hasn’t won, he’s placed at least top 5.
That said, I will not question or deny your will and determination to win this event. You have chosen 4 players who are more than qualified of representing our region and Mike Ross will get first selection on Team Wild Card. So maybe this will work out for the better and we’ll have two So Cal represented teams in the finals. Best of luck to you.

Then again maybe since I don’t participate in the East coast vs West coast I’m missing something? But all I see are people getting angry for Mike Ross, who as I can see from his posts, isn’t even angry.

Combofiend and I have not been entering tournaments lately. Do you understand the impact we have on tournament placings? Or are you still bent on the fact that since we are not there we suck.

Mike Ross places higher than me in 2 tournaments I was present at and the rest I wasn’t. WOW he’s a better player than me cause he plays in more tournaments. Do you think if Pyro or Geeo came back for 3s ranbats would impact ranbat placings?

I think Valle is a good player in SF4 but I can see why people in Cali are complaining. Even though you or combo do have impact on tournament placings, its just that Mike Ross has been more dedicated than you because he’s been traveling to all these tourneys and placing in them.
Not to ride valle’s nuts but just like you Justin, he is a beyond established player. He has nothing really to prove except for when it comes to Evo. He has faith in who he picked. People won’t like it, so what? I’m sure there are tons of people that think “so and so” should be on their regions team but it won’t happen.
The captains are the captains for a reason and you guys will do what you see fit with the teams. People need to unbunch their panties.
Is it gay Mike Ross isn’t on the team? I guess. I haven’t read much into it, but he seems very dedicated and a solid player, but like I said, Valle and the other captains know what they’re doing.

Let’s see here, first of all we’re far away. We can’t attend many continental US tournaments for obvious reasons. It’s fucking expensive to travel and our expenses for living here is neck and neck with the Bay Area.
So I’d like to inform the rest of SRK that at CR SF4 Singles -
- Shigz beat Valle
- DanHibiki beat Gootecks, Magus1234, and Emphy
- Dagger_G beat Keno, Kai and some other notable players I don’t remember.
- I only lost to Edma (1-2) in the entire tournament and lost to Shigz in top 16.
In casuals -
- DanHibiki and Dagger_G both got 30 wins (gentlemen’s club @ Denjin Arcade)
- Shigz and I both got over 20 wins but didn’t quite reach 30.
Also we’ve gotten considerably better since then. We’re dedicated players and we deserve spots.
Ah just read he was playing for his spot, didn’t notice that lol. Figured he was going to be certain since he’s captain and all.
Edit: Yo why not do the wildcard team as a qualifier Thursday night before evo or Friday sometime? Just post up when the quals will be and i’m sure you’ll get some great players, if hawaiins plan on attending evo and they are as good as they are saying they shouldn’t have to much of a problem securing a couple spots in the tourney. Just name the captain before hand, could be mike ross if the srk community believes his contributions and skill are up to snuff.
